Wen has 110 inch 2@55 inch for about $70 or less on sale. For dust control I got a cover for the opening. This improves it dramatically but not perfect, yet. With a track square it’s a dream

I've been sold on the WEN track saws for a couple years now and have been using the cordless version for several months and really like it. I agree to your conclusion on the unique battery platform, but I now have their cordless biscuit joiner, so the batteries are starting add up. Great job. Scott

I picked up the WEN 7+ inch corded track saw (with Powertec tracks). Very satisfied with it, cut quality is just as you describe--nothing to miss compared to high-cost brands. Corded is fine for those who are using a dust hose anyway (and enables remote start/stop of the dust extractor). Thanks!

Great overview Mike! 2 things, Wen has a newish 55in track that I have. Pad seems more sticky (not sure though, never touched the smaller track) and I like the connector better than the Powertec. Not sure of the longevity of a steel grub against the aluminium track. Second I designed a dust cap for the corded that looks like it would fit the cordless. If you have access to a 3d printer, it's a thing I vers model that's free to print. For my use, Wen track saws just work, no need to overpay to mostly process ply. Cheers!

I found the Wen CT1272 7-1/4" track saw in open box condition for $50 over the weekend. Plan on going with these Powertec tracks. But I wanted to note, Wen has a 110" pair of tracks now too like Powertec. Not just the 100" pair, though they are still for sell too.

I hear more positive things about Wen than negative.

I have the Wen corded track saw... I like it. I don't do beveled cuts with it. It seems too wobbly. But for straight cuts on plywood... it's pretty nice.

For me, between the charging time and the price difference, I think I would prefer the corded version . Wen seems pretty good about updating and redesigning their products every few years, maybe they will add some of these updated features to the corded versions in the near future.

I purchased the Makita corded track saw. It’s a very nice saw, but I almost think I should’ve saved some money and went with the WEN because I don’t use it near as much as I thought I would. Especially after I got the Dewalt 10” table saw. But alas, it’s paid for now, 😆. Love your channel.

I have this saw. Made the mistake of buying the WEN tracks in trying to save a measly $50 (over the Powertec). I was making a "wood slat wall" project. I ensured the screws holding the 2 track pieces together were properly tight, and my super long ruler confirmed it was straight. The first ~20 wood slats I cut from my plywood were very straight. But all my slats after that have a very slight bow in the middle (becasue the track is slightly bowed or something). My bad that I should've periodically checked the straightness as I was cutting the plywood. So 20 of my wood slats are straight, and the other ~80 have a slight curve. I can deal with the slight curve, but for some people who can't deal with it, it means ~$200 worth of plywood was wasted becasue of the cheap WEN tracks. Moral of story - don't try to save a measly $50 but end up wasting hundreds of $ when you're working on future projects.

Good review, matches almost exactly with my thoughts on it after using it almost daily for the past 3 months. Battery charger sucks, and dust collection is blah. Other than those 2 things it’s been amazing.

I'll go for the Wen, cause the track is same as the Makita and Festool. I'm sure there's a battery adapter somewhere online. I'll check and see if the blade is parallel to the base, When I brought my Makita, the base is off by 32nd, and could only tell then I did Plunge cut. I think it's their way to combat kickback.

Another good job, Mike! Hey I must have missed some of your stuff, looks like you're maxxing out the pack out gear. One of the frustrations I have with track saw tracks is that when you have a different with kerf on your blade, you have to make the clearance cut match. After doing that twice, one generally has to replace the strip and I find that to be a pain in the neck.

I'm a woodworker and use the Ryobi platform for my shop and some lawn equipment (it's a double win). So I wouldn't buy the cordless version of any track saw except for Ryobi. After seeing all the positive reviews on the Wen, I would still go with the Ryobi.

WEN also has available a bench sander which got very good reviews. As for me the only negative I see is the absence of a riding knife which could potentially avoid kickbacks.

Thank you. Nice review. Something I’d like to know is how it does on 45 degree bevel cuts. The corded version was shown to have so much play that it wasn’t viable for such a cut. The play was between the upper unit and its base; it wasn’t about stability on the track. Any chance you could try it and post an assessment? Thanks.

I have the Wen that takes a 8 1/4 blade. I also bought the powertec rails after watching reviews. I then bought a rip and cross cut diablo blades. I've been too busy to do anything with them so I can't comment on performance. I get the idea of cordless power tools but if you're running a dust collector, you have a massive cord behind so why not just use mains power? What's an extra wire? Just clip it to the vac hose.

Mike, I have the corded version on the older Powertec track system. Mine came with only one track connector but the Wen track clamps work perfectly. I will see if E-bay has additional rail joiners. For dust control, a small piece of clear poly taped to saw on 2 sides gets it done. Nice review & where's the orange cat?

I remember that on some videos said that the corded version has some wiggle when you put it on 45° giving you not precise cuts at this angle, does this cordless version have the same issue? I bought the Kreg tracks a couple-three years ago. They come with a universal sled that also fits the T-square they sell. In honesty, I have used it for one project. I use the T-square all the time. Two Phillips head screws and ten seconds later, my Makita cordless circular saw is secured. Easy-peasy. Knowing what I know now, I would not have purchased the tracks. I am fully cognisant of the fact that the above statement is counter to current sheet goods handling standards. I don't care. I do fine with the T-square. Perhaps thirty years of breaking down sheets has taught me serviceable ways to cut sheets, or maybe I am old and set in my ways. I just think I would have been better served by buying 3 sheets of Baltic Birch than buying the track.

POwer-Tec plastic strips will come un-glued if you keep them in a non air-conditioned shop or garage..

I have the WEN corded track saw which is perfect for what I do, but I would never buy the Cordless. The problem with these cheap chinese brands is the batteries are always sub-par. They die in a very short amount of time and end up costing you more than buying a better product in replacement batteries. My dewalt Tool kit I bought (drill, impact, sawzall (I know, but it's easier to spell) circular saw and light) about 10 years ago is still going strong. The batteries still last as long as when they were brand new.

The only thing it doesn’t have is a riving knife, but coming in at under $200, I’d take that trade off.

Personally I wouldn’t move to the Ryobi because I have the batteries since the Ryobi is nearly twice as much as the Wen. Cheaper just to have the dedicated batteries

Needing a vacuum hose hooked basically defeats the advantage of being cordless. I am almost certain that a power cord would be more flexible and less cumbersome than a vacuum hose.

I purchased both the corded versions of the Wen track saw, they both had issues with the pot metal (poor construction) and unfortunately both broke within hours. The cordless version construction and durability is much better in comparison, and has been working great for me. I am extremely happy I returned the corded versions and spent a bit more for the battery powered version. I also purchased the Powertec guide rails. Those are not great as the adhesives holding the rubber on the back started losing adhesion very quickly.

there was a day when i wouldn't even consider another brand of cordless tools because to me dealing with multiple tool brands that each have their own proprietary non-interchangeable batteries is just plain stupid so for a long time ryobi was the best bang for the buck so for me it was ryobi or nothing. fast forward 20 years and ryobi is now the worthless fat soon to be ex that keeps wanting more and more money while having less and less to offer so if a company like WEN can get their battery systems straightened out and efficient then i'd have no problem buying their cordless products but right now, having a saw that needs over 4 hours to charge the battery's is just not an acceptable option......
