And then you spend six hours and three different exploits to get Chad's ultimate weapon in the first section of the game even though the game is easy enough without it and you could have gotten the weapon normally with a ten minute quest if you just waited to where you were supposed to get it.

I did this with him too I totally underestimated his stats he was kicking ass as a sniper with good stats I gave him one speed wing cause his lack of his growth rates but I was totally shocked when he got to his 3rd tier stick with double bow his strength is not his best growth rates along with his speed but man I was satisfied until up I used the dawn brigade team except Fiona cause she suck’s terribly

I like using the knight on the free the prisoner's map, because there's the option to train Tormod's group as well like this. One time I spent like 5 hours or some shit training Volug, Vika, and Muarim to SS and S rank strike. And I got every other Dawn Brigade member to promote that was there, as well as a few levels for promoted Fiona and Meg. I had to rescue up a light unit with each of them eventually(cept Vika can't carry anybody so I just had to stop training her) to cut their speed in half so they wouldn't kill the guy lol.

Reminds me of when on the cave level in part 2 I beat all the enemies on normal, but then tried to grind Leanne to level 40 using vigor. I may have given up after level 22, but still.

The amount of time wasted just to do something so silly reminds me of the time I played through FE8 from start to finish because I wanted to do something with a bug I'd just found out about. Long story short, Moulder one shotted the demon king with a crit using Gleipnir.

I remember boss abusing Jarod with Vika kicking him for about 20 turns, but I did give Vika paragon so she got like 4-5 levels up. But since Vika can only counter in human form, I had to use her laguz from to boss abuse a bit longer after 20 turns. This was on Normal though. I think I could have used spectre cards while Vika is in human form in order to get more EXP from Jarod, but I thought 7-8 levels up with Vika is good enough.

This is a hilarious waste of time, but incredible demonstration of dedication. Some time ago, I had begun to love the concept of Prepromotes, and soon after I had decided that less and less grinding makes a funner experience. I was not wrong in my findings. Most games have better Prepromotes than growth units to be honest. But this is a whole other level of grinding.

Y'know, there is a fanfic on AO3 about this exact scenario from Jarod's perspective. Breaking his weapon in a doomed attempt to scratch the Black Knight, Fiona poking him with several bronze spears and being handed several more, as the rest of the group plays cards in the back. He has been reduced to nothing but a training dummy.

it makes me wonder about the game design, like every fire emblem does this. they give you powerful overleveled units alongside weak underleveled ones and the underleveled ones can get strong, but require a huge xp investment. . in a game where xp is limited and there's not enough to go around. and then they give some of them terrible stat growth on top of it. it's almost as if they don't want you to use these units. . .

There's bonus exp in the game, that you can use to get 3 stats minimum (Which is mostly useful with capping other stats first), so it was probably expected that they would be viable enough to use should other characters die first.

@@ZT1ST yeah, if you save scum it, you can make any unit reach their stat caps, but still, what i'm saying is that certain units are just great right out the door, while others require exploitation methods to makemthem just barely on par. i get the concept someone said in a forum somewhere that fire emblem is "meant" to be played "hardcore permadeth", like if a unit dies and you just keep playing and just replace them with a benched unit, but then those benched units are usually terrible and really far behind and take forever to get as good as the other ones the game just hands over to you. and i'm fully aware of "bonus xp", but again, that is a limited resource and it requires you to complete stages fast, meaning you aren't allowed to resort to,other methods, such as breaking the enemies's weapons and farming xp off them for 100 turns. you have to make a choice, do i finish the stage quickly and get enough bonus xp for 2 levels that i can save scum for good stats gains or do i exploit the stage to potentially farm dozens of levels spread across multiple characters, but then i miss out on the bonus xp and have to eat the random zero stat level ups? in the end, i took the latter strategy. it's literally the only way to max out your team levels before the game ends. especially since this particular game lets you carry over data to the sequel, but it only carries over a few bonus stats from characters that you completely maxed out. if you didn't max them out, like that one thief character, the stats don't carry over

This is just Fiona's problem. She's not bad statistically, they just screwed her up by creating her for the Dawn Brigade who have horrendously bad maps for cavalry. She'd be a lot better if she was a Pegasus Knight which are also missing from the Dawn Brigade. Fiona exists probably because they wanted to have a Cavalier in the Dawn Brigade (as well as just having any sort of Tier 1 Cavalier at all, given all the PoR Cavaliers now start as Paladins). They just forgot to design the Dawn Brigade maps to make a Cavalier actually usable. Even if she was a prepromote Paladin she'd probably be a lot better. The map usage is still not great, but that's made up for the fact that her stats would be good enough at base to make her usable after you're done with all the maps she's useless on.

i had a friend who basically sidelined all the members from the dawn brigade. i was so upset. i mean i get it, you can manage however you want but if you play smart, you dont even need to boss abuse to get them all up to the same level as any of the rest of the end game units. i actually beat ike with Sothe on the castle siege. you only benefit if you make all your units equally strong for every occasion
