I love how Sebas was horrified of Cocytus's act of blocking the attack. Probably thinking that Cocytus had just disobeyed Ains

Everyone is busy here saying how Ainz is actually Pandora’s actor, but I think some didn’t notice the best scene is actually how Demiurge is carrying Victim like a stuffed toy, it’s adorable.

How horrible this girl's life was that she didn't even feel any hatred or at least disbelief that she was about to be murdered by her savior and was more concerned about him.

Interestingly, I think the biggest hint here that Ainz is actually PA is that he asks Sebas if he is a loyal dog. I don't believe the real Ainz would ever ask that, given how fanatically he admires his friends and loves their creations.

I love how layered this scene is. On the surface layer, there's not much going on except for the obvious test of loyality. But there's so much to discover if you just stop to think about: 1) Ainz being replaced by Pandora's actor, without the show explicitely telling the audience. 2) Tuare accepting her death with a smile in front of the man who allowed her to live to repay him for his kindness. 3) Tuare not really being scared by seemingly terrifying monsters, because her trauma originates from humans that she regards as the actual monsters

After his punch got blocked by Cocytus, he was about to follow up with another punch to instantly kill Tuare, in order to fulfil his master's orders. Ainz's "Sebas, back away!" has more urgency in it with that in mind.

One detail I love. After Cocytus blocks the punch, Sebas readies himself as if preparing to fight. Maybe it's just me but I read that as he was prepared to fight Cocytus for going against Lord Ainz's orders, further proving his loyalty.

In the LN Ainz says he did not call Sebas back to Nazarick during Shelltear incident because they were travelling together and he suspected Sebas would be followed if he returns to Nazarick. They even assume Sebas might be the next target of whoever mindcontrolled Shelltear, that's why Solution was extra suspicious of Sebas.

Cocytus: Hmmmm Cocytus on the inside: GNNNHHHHHH! my freaking hand! Stop! Don't... Show... WEAKNESS!

This scene is brilliant - Ainz himself was probably watching this from Nazarick while Pandora's Actor (who is "Ainz" here) is testing Sebas. If Sebas was "brain washed" away from Ainz Ooal Gown things could get messy real quickly. That explains why Victim, Demiurge and Cocytus are also in the room - despite Sebas not being a floor guardian he has the offensive capability matching Shalltear - at this closed space Ainz's safety cannot be guaranteed, but with 4 floor guardians in the room, Ainz's safety can be assured while testing Sebas.

*This intense scene* Ainz, one minute later: "I'm so excited for their grocery shopping date."

Lets see the LN Volume 6 Chapter 6 version of this scene: “And despite my clear instructions to you, you got yourself into trouble because of this meaningless little woman - am I wrong?” “No, you are not.” The word “meaningless” made Tsuare shudder, but Sebas only answered the question and made no other response. “At that time… did you not think you were ignoring the orders I had given?” “Yes. My thoughtlessness has displeased you, Ainz-sama. I shall reflect upon my sins, be more careful in the future, and I shall not make the same mistake ag-” “-It is fine.” “Huh?” “I said, it is fine.” Ainz shifted, and the chair creaked once more. “People are not perfect, and mistakes are to be expected. Sebas. I shall forgive this trifling mistake of yours.” “-Thank you, Ainz-sama.” “However, mistakes must be rectified - by death.” The air in the room suddenly grew tense, and the temperature felt as though it had fallen by several degrees. No, that was not it. Only Sebas felt that way. The others - the denizens of Nazarick - remained serene and still. Sebas gulped. What did his master mean by “death”? No, that went without saying. The thoughts “As I expected” and “I hope not” weighed heavily on Sebas, but still, he asked: “...What… do you mean…” “Hm… what I mean is that I expect you to eliminate the source of your mistake in order to wipe the slate clean. How can you be the representative of everyone else when you leave the origin of your error untouched? You are the butler of Nazarick, and one who stands at the head of the manservants. If you do not handle the matter appropriately…” Sebas exhaled. Then he took in another breath. Even when faced with a mighty foe, Sebas’ breathing remained calm and regular. Yet, it was now frantic, like a small animal that had run into a predator. “Sebas. Are you a loyal hound who obeys the orders of my exalted self - of the 41 Supreme Beings? Or are you a man who believes that your will alone is righteous?” “This-” “-I do not need your answer. Show me your conclusion.” Sebas closed his eyes, and then opened them again. He hesitated for only a moment. No, it would be better to say that he had spent an entire moment hesitating. This time he had spent in indecision was enough to earn the palpable ire of Cocytus, Demiurge and Solution, people whose loyalty to the Supreme One was beyond reproach. After that long, interminable moment, Sebas finally made his decision. Sebas was the butler of Nazarick. He was nothing else beyond that. His foolish hesitation had brought about these consequences. If he had pleaded with his master earlier, the outcome might have been different. All this was his fault. A hard lustre filled Sebas’ eyes. They gleamed like polished steel. Then, he turned to Tsuare. The hand clinging to him let go. Its fingers clutched briefly at empty air, wavering for a moment before falling powerlessly. Tsuare looked at Sebas’ face. She had probably guessed his decision by now. She smiled, and closed her eyes. That was not a look of despair, or fear. She had accepted what would happen next, had accepted her impending fate with all the grace of a martyr. Sebas’ movements did not waver. His heart had long since descended into the abyss. In his place stood a steely servant who had pledged his utmost fealty to Nazarick. That being the case, there was no reason not to obey the absolute order handed down by his master. He had cut through his confusion. Only loyalty remained. Sebas’ hand formed into a fist, and then he struck at Tsuare’s head, seeking to grant her the mercy of an instant death. And then- -Something hard intercepted his fist. “-What are you doing? Why are you interfering with me?” “-!” “...” Something had blocked the fist which should have obliterated Tsuare’s skull. Cocytus had reached out a hand from behind Tsuare - whose eyes were still tightly shut - and stopped Sebas’ fist. Was Cocytus a traitor, given that he had blocked a strike which the Supreme One had ordered? And then, the doubts in Sebas’ heart were immediately answered. “Stand down, Sebas.” Sebas was anxious and doubtful, but he was still halfway through another punch when he heard Ainz’s order. The strength he had channelled into his hand dissipated in an instant. His master had not censured Cocytus, but had instead told Sebas to stop. That indicated that he had also arranged for Cocytus’ interdiction of Sebas’ strike. Indeed, all this had had been planned ahead of time. The fact was that his master wished to verify Sebas’ intentions. Tsuare timidly opened her eyes, and saw that the headman’s axe which awaited her was long gone. Now that her life was no longer in danger, her wound-up emotions snapped inside her. Tsuare’s body convulsed with shudders as the tears streamed from her eyes. She very nearly collapsed from the shaking of her legs, but Sebas did not reach out to support her. No, he could not. What else could he do, now that things had come to this? What right did he have, given that he had left her to her fate? Ainz paid no heed to Tsuare’s fear and began addressing Cocytus. “Cocytus. Was that blow intended to take that woman’s life?” “There. Is. No. Doubt. That. It. Would. Have. Been. Instantly. Fatal.” “Then I declare that Sebas’ loyalty is no longer in question. Thank you, Sebas.” ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Way better if you ask me.

I never noticed that it's actually pandora's actor and not Ainz until this video, it was strange to me why he did the high note. *The more you know*

The last moment where she eyes Sebas what he is doing and quickly copies him is so adorabel.

Lol not only the high pitch but the fact that he changed "Supreme One" to the 41 made it obvious it was Pandora's Actor. Pandora's Actor was created by Ainz and is his "son" so his loyalty is to only Ainz.

Even though he almost slips up, Pandora's actor was even able to hide any murderous intent from sebas. When he replied that he didn't deem Tuare as something worth to report to ainz, Sebas felt murderous intent from everyone, even Victim. Shows that PA truly knows how to act and do his work according to the will of his dad

Oh so pandora did make a cameo after all. I wanted to see him in action but that works too.

The Shogun did a similar thing, asking one of his Samurai to slaughter his entire family, as proof of loyalty. The Samurai went to his home to do the deed, but found his home empty. His family was with the Shogun this whole time; his wife and young children. Harsh? Yes. Necessary? Yes.

In the original LN, it’s even more chilling. You see Sebas’ unspoken thoughts in that moment. His brief inner turmoil, before resignation to being nothing more than a loyal servant. How he sees Tuare’s acceptance of her fate, and how he steels his resolve to avoid feeling anguish at what he is about to do. His confusion at Cocytus’ interruption, his mind racing at the apparent treason. How, frozen in shock, he feels horrified towards himself for treating Tuare so coldly.

Cocytus externally: Mhmm Cocytus internally: Mannnnnn FUUUUUUUUUUCK, MY HAAAAAND.

And Tuare was completely fine with it. Sebas gave her a perfect life free from her addiction and her abuse. She was safe and happy, and that was enough for her. Terrific writing.

If you guys read the light novel, the image of this scene is amazing. With the way the illustrator drew the surroundings in black and red, it feels really tight and suffocating. Add that with the struggling thoughts inside of Sebas, it gives this scene much so more tension.

What I like is that in the manga, Ainz pointed out Sebas resembles his creator. So he wasn't surprised that anyone was having their emotions the way they were.

Demiurge hugging Victim looks so dang precious until I remember that Victim can float and he needs to die to cast a curse…

the fact that he intended to give her an instant death hits me with the feels

so she was never meant to be killed but it was to test his loyalty and everything worked out in the end

Seeing how ready she was to just have her life snuffed out because she's used to people turning on her hit me as hard as Sebas was about to.

I kinda like how they show it's pandoras actor not only with the voice crack, but also because he can't copy lord ainz red dots. His eyes are just hollow. And when ainz returns the eyes are normal, that shows ainz carefulness as he uses pandora to see if a situation is under control, as pandora is one of the strongest guardians, and can escape easily. Just shows again ainz is a man of tactics and easy footsteps

And extremely short yet an undoubtedly powerful moment and I'd have to say my most favorite emotional moment in the entire show. Tuare was absolutely ready to die just for the sake that she wouldn't ever possibly be a burden to Sebas and that mutual glance between her and Sebas telling him that 'She accepted her fate'....... bruh........ *holds back tears* My cold dead heart be melting tho......

Imagine if he took the form of Touch Me just to fuck with the guy wonder what kind of face he would have made : D

Shoutouts to Tuare for being ready to get killed by Sebas tho She did not even FLINCH! A true MVP in my book

1:08 I just realized that she takes a step away from Sebas after realizing that he did in fact mean to kill her with that punch.

Ainz always does this. He acts evil and then uses his “punishment” as a way for the guardians to grow. (excluding, shalltear, but we won’t talk about that.)

I love this animae of just how loyal his comrades and guardians are to him. This is how the word loyalty is definition seriously. I not sure if anyone loves how they would stand by Ains side no matter what till their last breath, but to me this is what I call loyalty.

I believe this scene came too soon, at the time I still thought ainz wouldn't let to kill her, If I had seen the "arena episode" before, I would really fear for her.

the greatest lol from this scene is when pandoras actor teleports out of there as ains he over dramatizes the casting of the spell and the guardians all think its cool.

It's quite easy to spot Pandora's Actor when you analyze his speech and some exaggeration even by Ainz's standard.

This was a splendid rendition of the good ol "Abraham killing Isaac to prove his loyalty to God" story and I especially love how Cocytus represented the "Angel" who nullified the attack at the last minute. Also by having Sebas use blunt force to carry out his killing blow instead of a knife or blade, they were able to have Cocytus not just block said killing blow, but also asses if the attack was powerful enough to kill her. By implementing this simple yet profound concept change, they're able to pay homage to the original Abrahamic story, while keeping it unique by expressing a multitude of emotions, reactions, and getting the loyalty point across brilliantly at the end... Magnificent!

Ainz: prove your loyalty by punching your waifu. Cebas: domestic violence! Cocytus: to that we say no!

You can't hear it in this video, but the soundtrack that first played when Ainz (Pandora) showed up is Pandora's theme but with Ainz's rhythm. It's a very cool, extra subtle clue. A youtuber named 51vk5 managed to enhance the audio so you can better hear the soundtrack. Look for "Overlord2 secret song" to hear it.

i don´t know what is more cruel: 1) tuare knowing her life is worthless, even to the one who saved her life earlier and nursed her 2) sebas (seemingly good guy) having to deal with the fact that tuare knows he was willing to kill her, without any resistance

The novel was far far better First in the novel sebas didn t question ainz order And he excuted it Sebas had a fear that ainz will live them someday That he may get disappointed and leave them What i love about the novel is that it portrayed very well the guardians growth.

After the Shalltear scare, the possibility of disloyalty wasn’t off the table. He needed to do this, and after all that happened with Shalltear’s depression after her incident, he realized he needed to do this as much for Sebas as for the other guardians. For her…well, he saved her life. Her life was going to end if she wasn’t saved, so dying with the life she loved for a man she loved was still better than living a life that destroys the man she loves. For Sebas, I think he certainly needed this moment for hundreds of reasons. To learn to trust Ainz as the first and foremost reason. He knew from the beginning how loyal Sebas was to go through with it and made sure to prepare for it, but also not to be unfeeling afterwards. He was ready to adopt Tuare as one of the only humans in Nazarick specifically because Sebas wanted her to be a part of it. As far as Ainz is actually concerned, they are all equally important and irreplaceable treasures, and preserving those treasures and their wants is his only want as a leader.

Just watched S1, 2 and 3 in week. It's super fun anime, I am sure that the light novel is better but enjoyed this one too. Hopefully season 4 is in the making. I also would love to see an origin movie or serie (20 episodes or more if good), where the game get launched, how the guild get formed and how they created those NPC's.

Ainz might not have the knowledge of a dark lord, but he sells himself short sometimes - that was very shrewd...

Might I just add how powerful this scene was. Instead of causing unnecessary bloodshed he decided to test Sebas's loyalty in the most epic way possible, gawd that blows me away, imagine having two friends and giving both a gun and telling them to shoot the other before the next one shoots or both dies.... I understand my example needs more then that to explain it but trust me the results would be as good as this

At 0:17, Pandora’s Actor slips up. In the subtitles, he says, “Supreme One”, which Ainz would not refer to himself by. It’s audibly noticeable too. You can hear Pandora’s Actor’s dramatic voice seeping into his words, though he quickly covers it up.
