Proof of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya? Prof. B B Lal on Ramayana site archeological survey and Babri Masjid

Prof. B B Lal, Director Project: Archeological survey of Ramayan Sites speaks about the Babri Masjid. He says: "To the rest of the Babri Masjid and one to the south of the Babri Masjid, our trenches were hardly two meters away from the outer wall of the Babri Masjid so in fact almost touching it."
Now here is the photograph of the Mosque and the trench on the western side, this is the wall of the Mosque is of course the peripheral wall. Now from here, downwards we have different levels. The early medival levels, The uttar levels, the kushan levels, shunga levels and further to 3rd, 4th century BC. In the deep trench here which you cannot see right now we went further down about 7 or 8 feet and in the lowest level in the sense we found materials such like the northern polished layer and other things which go back to about seven hundred before Christ. This is the lowest deposite and this probably is the time of Lord Rama because similar evidence comes from other places like Shringverpur, Bhardwaj Ashram, Chitrakoot which are associated with the Rama story and a similar trench was put on the southern side of the Mosque where again we went to the 7th century BC level conforming what we get on the other side.

BABAR NAMA which is a record of Babar's life clearly mentions that his general Mir Baqi invaded Ayodhya ,destroyed a big Hindu temple and built a Mosque there!.Moreover ,GuruNanak visited Ayodhya and prayed at the Ram's temple a few years before its destruction!.This is recorded in his biography!.What More evidence required!.

Its written gurunanak visited Ayodhya, but there is no mention of Rammandir. Sipreme court verdict says there is some structure. More chance for Budhist structures. If Baber demolished Ram temple, it would have definitely mentioned in Ramcharita manasa written 50 yrs after the construction of Babri masjid.

@@sahlarahim kalidasa contemporary of Gupta times wrote in his book raghuvamsa that there was a mandir...travellers huen stang fa hein observed the temple...Gupta prashasti has been found from the temple sites ...European merchants teiffanthaler and Francis Buchanan mentioned in their work that the temple was destroyed..archaeologist kk Mohammed mentioned that there was a temple ..baburnama mentions he sent Mir baqi to built a mosque ....is this enough evidence ?

A very convincing argument...I saw the Akhuwatul Islam mosque as a boy and we saw the sculptured pillars inside which seemed very odd to me as kid visiting from Pakistan. Islamically the mosque should not be built on disputed land, nor this mosque has any connection to any religious history in Islam. Now even the other 2 mosques need to be handed back in Mathura and Varanasi.

Regardless of whether there was a temple or not, Muslims for the sake of national brotherhood can gift the land to Hindus and strengthen the trust and bridge relationships between communities. Muslim leaders should think constructively and lay off any claims on the disputed land as long as Muslims are allowed to pray elsewhere and construct new Masjids when needed.

It is a known fact of history that many Invaders came to India and defeated native kingdoms/people and forced them to accept new culture and religion...It is also well documented that barbaric invaders like Mohd Gauri & likes of Babar ruined several ancient temples and raised structure over them....As per the learned scholars of the religion of peace...any Mosque built by destroying a pre-existing place of worship is impure....And the Almighty calls for not reading namaz at such places.... there's should not be any issue at all!...Lord Ram is the COMMON ancestor of Indians (sans religion) and has remained so for last 2500-3000 years....Let the brothers of Ayodhya themselves rebuild the Lord Ram temple at Ayodhya and also build the mosque at a suitable place...A building was constructed over an ancient and very important temple by an invader and now the native people themselves are fighting

I know that the Babri Mosque might be built by destroying a temple ( may be ram mandir ) , but , It is also proved that the existing babri mosque was not built by Babar , one of his mughal governor just repaired the existing mosque almost in 1527-28 & named it " Babri Mosque " to honour his then ruler , Babar . before claiming 700 bc as time of lord Ram please do some basic research. archaeology, astronomical observation in the epics, hydrology and many more other streams of investigative science reveal anywhere between 7500 to 12000 bc. a good starting point is some groundbreaking work done by Nilesh Oak

Exacavation carried out Dr B R Mani in 2003 (after demoltion of Babri Masjid) revealed the deepest layer was not 7th cent BCE but belonged to 17th cent BCE. Dr Mani's report also says that the site was used as reigious site not before the Gupta period. Earilier layers were 'habitational sites'. So, Dr Lal's claim that the deepest site was of Lord Rama's time is without much merit. He had been an icon in his own field and I have huge respect for him. I agree with all other observations made by him in this documentary. Historians/Archaeologists are also human beings with human emotions.

Congress could have developed a Mandir in 1950s itself but they hated Hindus so much that they keep it delayed forever. We are lucky to have PM Modi whose resilience and pro hindu stature really helped Hindus restore their faith in Prabhu Sri Ram!
