Well... he's been listening to Eminem and other rap songs since elementary I think so he obviously very inclined to actually read the lyrics and search for translation to understand them better.. Music can be a great motivation to learn a language informally. I think I know quite some korean language myself after indulging in tons of Kpop, K-drama and K-variety.. yet, I can't really read, write or speak them well.. just throwing a few words here and there.. hehe... I can relate to Yoongi. I can understand Korean pretty well, but I can't speak it. He obviously can still speak some English so hes better in that sense but I understand the idea of knowing what is being said vs speaking it. When I'm at work (in retail) I get lots of Koreans shopping and I understand when they are speaking to each other, but I can't actually respond to them. So if they ask me a question I know what they are asking but I'm not sure how to answer it xD

the bts song i would listen to forever is called 'tomorrow' i can't remember if you've heard it but i feel like you haven't, it's an older song and one yoongi produced, & wrote. it's my favorite bts song. the lyrics are amazing and it's a straight bop. hope you'll check it out someday! the live performances of it are great also.

I have a best friend whose name is "Classified." We're in high school now and we've been together since the fourth grade. She was actually the one who introduced me to BTS and Kpop (a couple of days after she discovered them herself), and we grew to learn more about the boys together. We also have the same bias, which is Jimin, so sometimes we play argue over him. Lol!! I love her so much because even though we kind of have opposite personalities, we also have a lot in common. She has always been by my side and took care of me, even though I'm the oldest. Usually, I have to act mature because all of my closest friends are younger than me, and I feel a need to protect them, but when she's around, I'm free to act as dorky and childish as I please. I'm not scared to show my emotions around her. I'm sorry for ranting so much, but that just shows how much I care about her. Yoongi actually learned English from RMs old videos. RM learned English from friends. But yeah he watched RMs videos. He doesn’t speak English often because he’s afraid he’s going to pronounce something wrong so he often doesn’t speak English.

Also! okay so English in Korea and Japan is based on reading and listening, rather than speaking. So that's what happens with Yoongi, he understands English very well but it's harder for him to speak it. Tbh, I think this applies to all of BTS.

I actually watched a video not long ago, unfortunately I forget the name of the channel, but they did an experiment and had a little western looking boy who was around maybe 12ish? who spoke fluent Korean act like he was lost in Korea and only spoke English, and he would go up to random people and ask for help, and though not many knew much English, they knew enough from their time in school to communicate with the boy well enough to let him use their phone to call his brother, and they all waited with him until his brother came and did their best to comfort him. the experiment was to try and make Korean people feel better about their English bc they apparently think they're bad at it since they don't really use it, but the experiment proved to these people that they can use it if they need to, and to inspire confidence. So, I think all of the boys can understand English pretty well, I think Tae even said once that he can read in English well, but has a hard time responding. I think they also have a hard time bc some interviewers speak really fast, and they can't keep up.But they're all improving, JK's gonna be fluent soon enough, and Tae's been studying too. I know it's gotta be hard to find time though, I'm sure with how busy they are, the last thing they want to do in their free time is study, and I don't blame them :') Also I was NOT expecting that intro jfcccccc
