Excellent. Thank you! It's hard to imagine that lint build up can have such a catastrophic outcome as a fire. Still, it seemed like a daunting task until I watched your video. My dryer's now all squeaky clean and safe. Another thing I learned recently is to never turn a dryer on and go to bed, or go out. It's an element...like a stove!!! Men you need more views, your info is spot on. Just recently my mothers dryer stopped pushing hot air and with your videos I discovered the previous owner bypassed the thermal fuse, so now the high limit and the heat element thermostat were toasted instead of just a cheap little fuse, ended up replacing everything just to be safe and cleaning the ventilation tubes.

That's the part he removed from the back. The entire duct comes out in one piece. Two screws at the top where the lint screen slides in and 3-4 at the bottom. there will also be globs of lint behind the blower fan, which needs to be scrubbed with a small brush (toothbrush) and the outlet duct can be cleaned out by hand. What he didn't bother to show was all the lint inside the dryer body than builds up. Takes about 15 minutes to pop the top up and remove the front for a thorough cleaning.

Informative video, My Maytag bravo XL dryer is not catching lint in the lint catcher. Only one inch of the very bottom of the catcher traps lint on it. If I take it apart like in your video I will I most likely find it clog up and will just need cleaning or more likely it has a bigger issues. When I removed the vent pipe from the dry to the wall it had a cup of water in the line. Thanks
@LeanOnYourRep
@LeanOnYourRep 3 жыл бұрын
If you have water in your line, most likely your dryer vents through the roof and the screen on the roof vent is blocked causing the moisture to trickle back down. If this is a case you're going to have to go into the attic and disassemble the pipe you'll just need aluminum tape for when you put it back together. No need to climb on the roof

Started again today and actually did everything in your video, however, the back of the lint vent would not just come out like it did for you after removing the screws. What am I missing? Last year the dryer stopped working the temp thermostat failed The dryer alway had as slight chirp when running so while we had it out I tool it apart and cleaned it of lint and changed the belt tensioner and the belt chirp sound is gone. I didn't notice any improvement in drying speed but the dryer want clogged up just had lint laying in the chassi. The dryer has always dried well up till it stopped heating properly. Now I have a steam dryer at work that's mine also that one was pretty clogged up the main vent line was clear though.

I don't know if you can stop it, but if you go to a big box store like Menards or Home Depot, look for a dryer lint brush set. They are specifically designed to go down in the that chute and cling to the lint so you can pull it back out. Also, you can clean out your exhaust tubes. Works great and they aren't too expensive.

Question: what would cause water to condense in the vent hose? I just took apart my whirlpool dryer (front and back) to clean out all the lint. I cleaned out the vent hose and the vent to the outside. some of the lint trapped in the vent hose was wet (not just damp, but you could wring water from it). I rinsed it out, cleaned it thoroughly and hung it up to dry. Then I reattached it to the dryer and the outside vent and ran the empty dryer on high for an hour and an no heat tumble for 30 minutes, alternating that 3 times. It then sat overnight. I thought it would be bone dry the next day, but when I uncoupled it from the dryer, there was about 1/2-1 cup of water in the hose and dripping out of the dryer vent in the back. This was an empty dryer!! What on earth caused this??? Is it just latent humidity from the air it's sucking in? Is there a way to prevent this? If it's happening regularly, no wonder my dryer gets stopped up so frequently.

@MsLizRich

Lint doesn’t always get caught on the lint trap screen. Some goes around the screen and builds up in that compartment where the lint screen fits. As the lint trap goes in & out when you clean the screen, bits of loose lint get jammed in the bottom and it prevents the lint screen from fitting all the way in. If you have a vacuum cleaner with a hose, you can use the skinny vacuum attachment or even a flattened cardboard tube (from empty roll of paper towels) to extend your vacuum’s hose and reach the bottom of that compartment. You might have to duct tape the cardboard tube onto your vacuum’s hose to get a good seal. Once you vacuum the lint out of the compartment, the lint screen should fit much better. You’re also preventing a possible lint fire inside your dryer, so Good Job!!! FYI - check the lint you removed for coins, paper money, buttons, earrings, etc - anything that could have been forgotten in clothes pockets. If vacuuming the lint out doesn’t work, you may have to remove the screws that hold the front of the dryer on. There are other videos here on KZfaq that show you how.

@@rachelewilken930 WHAT IS A DOG ON A DRYER?
@rachelewilken930
@rachelewilken930 Жыл бұрын
@@mikel.laughridge9480 a dog is a four-legged creature, also known as a canine. I took my canine to the exterior yard of my home to use the restroom, which also happens to be where my dryer is vented to, as it turns out that venting it inside your home can kill you.... and your canine. Anywho, while outside with my canine (my dryer was still inside with no canine in or near it), I removed the dryer vent cap and found it was full of lint; removing said lint caused the dryer to begin drying properly again. No canines were harmed in the making of this statement and I always make sure to keep my canine out of my basement and especially my dryer. I would recommend others also do not install dogs onto their dryers.

Hi, I’m having an issue with a brand new dryer. There is no lint going to the filter. I removed the back panel and I do see lint on the opposite side of the filter and out the exhaust.

Preciate the thorough video. Was fixing my washer and decided I might as well take a lot at the dryer. Didn't see the screws on the lent trap and undid the brackets connecting the controls 🤌 Got me straight

I dropped a plastic lid down the lint vent, would I have to remove it to get it out or would leaving it not cause any damage?

My mom has a old Maytag dryer and she doesn’t want to replace it. She has never had a deep clean done on it that I’m aware of. With the burning smell prob coming from the element in it or build up… is it worth it for me to open it up you think? Or just retire it out. She’s stubborn and doesn’t want to let it go if either I can fix it or have it fixed 😂
