U forgot to put oil on the brakes, so they don't rust
@kw2519
@kw2519 Жыл бұрын
That was sound advice. Most people don’t realize that if you have oil on your threads, when you tq them down, the oil fills the gaps and increases the tq reading. Then over time, the oil seeps out of the threads and reduces the pressure and in turn reducing the tq tightness of the thread. Leading to a wheel coming off. So he is 100% correct, this is not over kill. It’s just doing it correctly.

Were the chords showing on the tire ? Why was it wearing in the inside ?
@cone7073
@cone7073 Жыл бұрын
Looks like it. It’s caused by a bad alignment. Wearing on the inside of the tire is caused by having negative camber, when the top of the wheel is tilted towards the inside of the car. More than likely this is because he lowered his car, which naturally adds more negative camber if everything else is kept the same.
@nathanaeleckstein914
@nathanaeleckstein914 Жыл бұрын
Yup, could be poor alignment, but I've found alot of wide performance tires will tend to wear like that.
@mad1337nes
@mad1337nes Жыл бұрын
That's how all tires wear on bmws, due to the camber. Can't see it unless you've got it up in the air or taking off wheels. Pretty sketchy doing 60-130 rolls all day, and noticing when doing an oil change the next.

I find this so funny! Admittedly, I'm a mechanic with a couple of decades experience- I always used to chuckle at people's tendency to believe the marketing hype about German engineering being of higher quality than anyone else's... Yet the have love for WHEEL BOLTS! What the heck is going on THERE? We all know a stud and nut do a better at clamping than bolts. Wheel bolts make roadside tyre changes a nightmare for their customers and are more likely to come lose than a stud and nut... Someone tell my WHY we all put German engineering on some kind of pedestal that it doesn't deserve to be on. 🤦
