The owner of the property is so correct 💯 as long as Central Christian Church continues to provide food for the homeless, homeless people are going to stick around forever

No he is gaslighting. That property should have been developed long ago, then this issue would not have existed. If they cannot develop the property now, they need to sell it. And no, they should not write off losses. That is one reason why we have a affordability crisis right now.

I don't think they actually feed the homeless at that church location. They work with other non profits to provide food for families who can't make ends meet or anyone who needs it. I have never seen them distribute food from that location, I could be wrong, but I have never seen any distribution of food, only events related to holidays in which you have to have a vehicle to access. Even if they do provide food for the community there, they are seeing the humanity in people and not judging them for their situation. There is nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with helping people. There is something very wrong with refusing to help people because more people might need your help. Furthermore, I have lived in this area for 12 years, and the homeless have used that spot consistently since I have lived here. I would argue that there are other reasons the homeless use this spot consistently. For example: They have easy access to bus lines off of boulder HWY which can take them to downtown easily (where they also feed the homeless)- should we shut down the bus lines because the homeless use them too?-- They are close to some sort of water source (albeit inconsistent and very dirty) - should we just forget our flood and water system because it is too easy for homeless to use the infrastructure for their benefit? they are close to bike paths that can take them the wetlands or other areas across the city,- maybe we should just get rid of those paths that lots of people use who cannot afford a vehicle or prefer to bike.... There are multiple large parks with public restrooms close by (even closer than Central Church). Should we demonize the park department for having public restrooms too? No more parks - sorry kids-- The homeless use the restrooms, and so long as there are restrooms at the park, the homeless will stick around forever. Seriously, this is the core logic in your argument which is basically-- Stop providing any service to the community if the homeless can use it too... sheesh. It is upsetting how many people on this thread are cold and unempathetic.

I don't know how people are surviving now - with investment companies buying up all starter homes. We got out bid for eight moves in ready homes. We had to buy a fixer upper to get into home and spend $10K to clean up the house. Our house payments are less than a current one bed apartment! This isn't Biden - it's greedy Corporate investment companies that can out bid a young home buyer with cash!

Eliminate corporate and business tax writeoffs for undeveloped properties and add high undeveloped fines if not developed by the due date. Undeveloped urban properties that have the urban infrastructure ready for development should not be 'holdings' that causes loads higher costs for real taxpayers, real homeowners, real properties with building on them. I fyou don't the financing to buy the property adn develop, don't buy the property. How many cases do we see where corporations and investment numbered businesses 'sell & buy = trade' undeveloped lots in ready areas to enhance their bottom lines by writing off losses until they sell high. It's led to this unaffordability crisis & bubble we are in. Enough. This is feudalism! The property owner needs to develop this property now or sell it to someone who will develop it now. So many comment blaming the church who is actually doing the charity work religious organization are supposed to be doing and the reason for religious tax exemptions. Helping their local neighbours who are poor, fringes of society. I know, so unexpected of a religious church doing what it's suppose to. Most of the religious industry puts on a show for tax exemptions, they ship charity far away outside the eye of scrutiny and buy property, art, investments, build obscene temple private clubs only for themselves. No, that church isn't the problem. The problem is that property hasn't been developed. It was held onto for the tax writeoff and financial opportunism. This has lead to the unaffordability crisis we all suffer now. There must be development deadlines in areas that have the infrstructure installed and ready to go. Otherwise the tax burden of societal problems are unfairly imposed on real homeowners, real businesses and socialized on society. If you cannot afford to buy an urban property with installed infrastructure and develop it within a short timeline, don't buy the property. New deadlines and rules must be imposed in urban areas and on financial lending institutions.

homeless are everywhere across this country! I blame it on the drug epidemic and honestly... laziness. I live in a nice area and the homeless are aggressive, pan handling because they made it legal saying people should be able to make $$ the way they want. I wrote to the city where I live about them banging on cars and yelling and blocking traffic, drug deals and openly urinating in the bushes and on sidewalks. They sent a resource officer out and they wrote me back saying they were "regulars" and they refused help. 2 years later the same people are out there blocking traffic with their "anything helps" signs. Yet i saw one take a bite of food someone gave him and throw it on the ground. People buy them food and full fast-food meals unwrapped are on the ground. its awful! and they do have resources they just don't take advantage of them.

Also the people that bought the land planned to build a home for seniors.... it would be a large and complicated undertaking to build a place for homeless. They did that in FL and now the neighbors are seeing an influx of drugs, car break ins and violence. I'm not trying to be mean but if someone is homeless there is a reason they don't have friends and family letting them sleep on their couches. Think about people you know, if you were about to get evicted do you honestly think the people you know would let you sleep in a tent in the desert? These people have things they are struggling with and have to decide for themselves when enough is enough. They do have resources available. And i have someone in my family who was homeless. He had so much help but long story short friends and family bent over backwards for him, let him sleep on their couches and spare rooms for years but he was so entitled and acted like the world owed him stuff and he didn't want to work even though he had someone who was trying to help him & hired him with no set schedule, he could work when he wanted, any day he wanted and get paid under the table. He quit & told his boss to go f*ck himself when his boss asked him to cut a piece of wood different. One person who let him live rent free with them, asked him to leave when he lost his temper and refused to pay for groceries, and he refused to leave and they were afraid to try to kick him about because of his temper.

Has either of you ever been homeless ? I was before and thank god im not there anymore most people dont accept the resources because of the conditions of some of these places that they say help it’s dangerous you sleep near literally strangers to you some are thieves killers or even sex offenders….How safe would either of you feel to sleep next to someone like that ?! And not know anything! So alot of them feel its better to set up camp around the city where they can try to establish some type of life. Furthermore these places won’t get involved in disputes involving the homeless until AFTER THE FACT what good does that do these places need more security and food and shelter helps these people but after they eat and already had a good sleep its then up to them to figure the rest out and thats harder for others sometimes when its a person with no identification no family no money so what do they do they sleep until the next meal and should we blame them or the city of vegas for dropping the ball they seen this coming but there are no resources for the homeless nothing but food and a place to sleep with them wandering the streets all day no where to go and nothing free to them at least to get them to a better place in life and back on they feet its not just the homeless alot of it comes from vegas pidd

Blame those who have the complete authority to help open more doors for these people and change things and just doesn’t….it’s definitely a growing probably thats only getting bigger by vegas tryna ignore it.

@@MareMarMarie you cant speak on a issue you have never went thru personally yourself because your comment seems like your talking down about them they are still human have feelings and are pretty strong people (the ones that try at least) to still push forward and not give up in such a stressful point of they’re lives so to me that alone is commendable. Who cares that they throw a burger away that was given to them they are still people and thats they’re right to do so that person probably had already eaten earlier or didn’t like something on it who cares after it was given its his business to do wtf he wants to do with it and if your that concerned to watch a person and see what they do with a burger that was given to them sounds like you got too much time on your hands
