Shout-out to the team for showing me around their brand new township in Genting Highland. For viewing arrangements, do get in touch with them directly via -
Website : tropicanagrandhill.com
Phone : 018 - 390 9988
This is definitely that address that's on top of every KL person's weekend list due to it's proximity. It's a mere 30-40 mins drive away for families to escape the heat and stress for the weekends. But now, the development pace is way beyond my expectation.
Tropicana Grandhill will be one of the first township development in Genting despite the challenges of topography, engineering, logistics, infrastructure, and etc. TwinPines, is then designed to be somewhat that hotel/homestay/home product in order to cater to the huge demand of visitors to Genting every weekend. In terms of numbers, the day rate returns are very convincing against the monthly installments.
However, the unfortunate lockdown gave us a great lesson about such investment products. That high dependance on tourism didn't work out during lockdown. But after the vaccination activities, confidence are building up once again.
Also, I've observed so many other competitors around this location. That indicates the demand for accommodation within this area is incredibly high.

iherng, I think it's worth highlighting the recent cases of landslides affecting either infrastructures (roads) or houses (condos and landed). In my opinion, development on hill top or next to any hill should be curtailed. This development is sitting on a slope. Perhaps that's the reason you see the road being design as a bridge ramp. I mentioned in one of your earlier video before that I am a civil engineer. Hence, I know any/every building can be designed and constructed to last hundreds of years or withstand tornado or explosion but price tag would be sky high. I believe the developer is not going to spend the extra money to do improvement works to the extended slope/hill area and there lies the problem. Those landslides cases you read in the news recently after the flood, when those buildings were constructed, they were definitely safe (meaning slope was stable then). But the slope / ground gets disturbed due to new development or due to weather and slope could become unsafe in an instant. There is just too much unknown factors that could cause slope to fail. Do remember that landslides that affect the buildings in the news were due to failure of slope next to the building, not within the building ground and that's why developer usually "wash their hands" off such problems and push it to the government. I think it's wrong for them to do so as the slopes are usually created by the developers in the first place. Another problem is over development at Genting which you mentioned at the end of your video. More development means more rain water runoff (excess rain water that cannot be absorbed into the ground quick enough). And rain water runoff is the main cause of landslides and flood. I think same thing is happening at Cameron Highland. If you have money, best to buy property elsewhere and away from slope. Don't believe if guaranteed by developer that slope 100% won't fail.

i think this is a fair point, e.g. the case of Highland Towers collapse in the 90s, the condo was on a slope

Agree with your statement....Will blame the state govt for allowing private developers to develop? And do we NEED having another development that houses thousands of trees?

1. Hard to maintain the indoor and outdoor of the building due to the moisture level 2. Need to be aware if anyone would jump off the building (quite common in genting) and causing the diminishing of the property value 3. Due to owner not always around and so many strangers coming in and out of the building the security is a main thing to be concerned of

Few days ago I drove up Genting, saw a lot of landslides (like a lot a lot), which causes them to close parts of the roads extensively. Might need to consider the factor of natural disasters such as the recent flood and the risks of these kind of highlands developments faces. I really like the idea and really love the atmosphere. As a car enthusiast myself, it's one of the best spots to just chill. I do it mostly in the weekdays or midnights. Really interested to look into it as investment and maybe a weekend own/family stay once in a while.

I have to say, I'm sold! But the weather can be detrimental to the house and everything in it. I used to live in Genting, one year in and my house is already covered in molds. All my leather goods are unusable. Not to forget my laptops and power bank. All damaged. Still, I have to say that I love my time staying there. On weekends it is hell with all the congestions and crowds, but on weekdays it is heaven on earth.

I am sorry but i am horrified by the monstrosities you have presented and you have not even reacted to the environmental destruction. These are overbuilt developments that has no sensitivity or try to be friendly to the natural green highlands. How much of the environment we go up to enjoy in the first place are they are actually damaging by turning it into another massive ugly urban sprawl.

There are processes and checklists that developers will need to comply before they can launch their projects. So the relevant studies or reports will be provided, just not to the public. It'll only be in between the authorities and developers. So I'm just the messenger 🙂

Well, urbanisation is a form of environmental destruction. Genting highland that you love to visit - not a form of environment destruction? The dam that generate electricity for your household - not a form of environmental destruction? The highway that connect cities - not a form of environmental destruction? The house that you lived in which used to be the habitat of wild animal - not a form of environmental destruction? Oil mining that provide petroleum to your car - not a form of environmental destruction? You might argue that the above examples are essential to human being, but how about Genting? Is Genting essential to human being? So if we really want to be sensitive about environment, then perhaps we should first boycott Genting.

Cmon, the place u are living now is a product of deforestation and destruction to the environment. So as the malls where you enjoy your shopping, and the hotel and resorts where you enjoy your vacation. We can argue all day about this but what is the point? Now the whole world is talking about ESG, hopefully that can bring some positive changes to the mother nature.

@@ten9195 He is just there to promote the property, not helping spread awareness about environment or going green. You won't see him raising concern to the developers too, as he is not qualified to do that. Best you can do is complain to the goverment or raise a protest outside the gallery to bring out more awareness of environmental destruction.

Good review. Come and review Midhills in Genting Permai, where it's more condominium oriented than Twinpines and it's located at the quiet end of Genting Permai. You can spend a night in my unit there if you wish for a more wholesome review of not just the property, but as a staycation experience. I actually requested your firm to do the renovation but at that time you guys were not setup for Genting yet.

Hmm love the design and everything that it stands for..but huge concern on the auxiliary supporting facilities..there is no clear plan by the local authority on the management of traffic and environment. I would buy just to tick of a dream of owning somewhere unique, similar like a beach front prop. There are risk but the satisfaction is high too, forest view and misty morning fuh...would buy if 300k/400k installment is considered small change to me..when my pay is like 20k la hahaha. One plus point i can see is that the area size is big and the location is further down, maybe less risk of environmental disaster?
