So how did it all end with the squatter? Did he ever get arrested? Did Lia ever say yes to his dinner date offer? 😂 So many questions to answer in this video. We also wanted to read out some of your comments from the Squatting Series and share our thoughts.
Thank everyone for watching this series and commenting, it's been a real rollercoaster. If you haven't already, please subscribe for future videos including the renovation updates on what will forever be known to us as 'The Squat House'! Thanks as always, Lia & AK.

Sites screens are one way of protecting any future properties. For anyone who thinks I have a commercial interest saying this, no I'm not an agent for them but have seen them used multiple times in the job I do and although not 100% secure, nothing is. The best you can do is make it as difficult as possible so they look elsewhere.

Laughter is also my shocked/nervous/embarrassed reaction (sometimes anger too). Squatters are awful. My sister had some stuff fish in the walls from a pond that her neighbors paid to stock.

Aggression can't always be the go-to response. I think you two handled the situation perfectly. Even while dealing with someone who was obviously off his rocker, you got the result you wanted without escalating the situation (and doing anything illegal yourselves). :)

O, I'm disappointed that I couldn't make the premier! I admire the way Lia handled that presumptuous squatter, as she was very civil and exhibited such self-control! Myself, I'm a bit feral, and would probably have blistered his ears or worse 😅. I was sort of hoping Ak would get the opportunity to perhaps box his ears a bit tho 😜 Joking lol. I'm glad he's finally gone. All's well that ends well! Looking forward to future vlogs & excited for your Wedding. You two seem such lovely people, separately and as a couple. Anybody who called you out are clueless. You handled it well and with A LOT of grace. Clearly the guy was mentally ill and handling it humanely was the wisest and least risk to you. The outrage should be the police lack of response. I spoke to some retired cops they couldn't believe the lack of response from the police. BTW they said you handled it well!

Hi Lea/AK....You guys are quite young,,,,I am retiriing age and have very often thought about investment properties in fact the last 15 years and with the stockmarket ups/downs I often consider real estate...and your squatter experience is 100% the reason I could never be a "landlord"....OMG.... I really admire your energy enthusiasm...but we have "neighbours" we do not really like and the less we have to get involved with certain people the happier we are....I have lived almost half my life outside of UK and the way people in this country behave...hmmm builders reliability, woke attitudes, the gov't rules, police attitudes, the general apathy of UK people (dirty) - makes it a No No No No. Anyhow I really wish you both well and a great future! Thanks for the video. Bye

AK, I was waiting for you to modify that line from Princess Bride, where Wesley was talking about he trained on a pirate ship for years, and the pirate captain would say to him every night "Good night, Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning."....... and I thought you could say "Michael, this is Lia's fiancee. Have a good night, sleep well. I shall very very much enjoy driving over there and providing you with a demonstration of my skill in the martial arts tomorrow morning" lmao..... oh man. Glad you are rid of that guy! Hope he has been influenced to live a better life in the future. 🙂

I respect the frustration but I dunno what arresting him would achieve, unless he totally trashed the place. I don't know what Michael said that is true or what isn't regarding his personal case but most squatters are homeless or enduring huge financial hardship... arresting them or charging them with a crime just sets them back further. It'll make it that much harder to legitimately gain employment or housing because of the addition to a criminal record.
@PropertyCouple
@PropertyCouple Жыл бұрын
Ultimately the most important thing to us was getting the property back so we can continue the project. The planning process already delayed us. We didn't care for wasting time with pursuing any charges or anything with the squatter.

So glad you were able to finally get rid of him. I was really astounded by his cavalier way of introducing himself to you by saying, "I'm a proper criminal. You can ask the police." Yeah, that's how I aspire to be known, too. Not! LOL Anyway, sorry you had people going off on you for laughing at the things he said or not being nasty to him, but honestly, what would it have accomplished? Not a thing, other than maybe making him do more damage to your property. Sorry you had to go through that, but maybe, in the long run, it will help your business, if other companies are interested in showcasing your story. Perhaps? 😄

Squatters want to have rights over property they don't own ... beyond the rights of the owners of the property. In what world is that ok . Squatters need to obey the law. Luckily the Conservative Party made it illegal for people to go squatting in private property. But they still do sadly. I understand that homeless people need a home. But they need to stand up for themselves to sort out their situation and also get help from the homeless charity's out there doing great work 👍 And not try to destroy the lives of hard working people trying to help provide homes for the masses who need accommodation legally. The Squatters hate landlord's. You're lucky your property wasn't completely trashed..that's what I've seen happen many times to friends of mine in the past. before the new laws were passed. It's led many people into financial difficulties..Best of luck with the rest of the year. Wish you all the best for your wedding. Great to see young people get on. Great insights and excellent advice 👌 👏

“…to the WHOLE of Grimsby.”! LOL. Sounds so funny when you say that out loud, AK. Yes I guess Grimsby is big to the local police there. But tee hee, small potatoes compared to the rest of the world. But we do know it was a major hassle to you guys! Too bad the police don’t think that innocent victims are worth their time, no matter what the crime. This guy was such a scammer. He grossed me out. Lied with every breath. Glad you’re rid of him. Hope you can spend all your energy to get on with work and wedding planning from here on out.

As frustrating as it was to be nice to "Michael", in the end it was the best thing to do. Screaming and threatening him would have been a release for you, but it would have "put his back up" and would have been counterproductive. I wonder what would have happened if this had all been in Texas, though! Probably baseball bats and machine guns! Seriously, just an idea, perhaps you could write up a precis of this occurrence, and send it to your MP, with the aim of changing these SO VERY one sided laws into something more equitable? Anyway, good luck for the future!
