@BeingRealGeorge Great exposé George. I just want to make a comment regarding the double-share mentioned by Elisha. If we read the Deut 21:17 we see it is talking about how a father should share his wealth to his children as inheritance. A father cannot give two times his wealth to one of his children. What then was the double-share? I believe it simply means two times what the other children have therefore marking him as the successor. Example: a man has five children and about to die, he will not divide his goods into 5 and give them equal share he will divide it into six and the first son will have two out of six while the others have one share. Hence the expression double share. In Elijah’s case it is similar there was Elisha and the sons of the prophets who were walking with Elijah. The tradition required Elijah the prophet to share his spirit amongst his servants. Elisha asking for the double-share was just another way of saying recognize as your first son so I can have two times the share of my brothers (sons of the prophet) not that I want to do twice as much as you did. But we also know that the sons are meant to do more than their Father. Which explains why Elisha did twice as much as Elijah and not because he some how had two times the anointing. I believe Elijah in scriptures is recognized as the biggest prophet of old reason why when the Law and the prophets are represented at the transfiguration. We have Elijah and Moses. Even John the Baptist considered the highest man born of a woman is associated with the spirit of Elijah. (Elijah being the greatest prophet is my own understanding. I am not saying it is doctrine).
