I bought a original Roland RE-201 Space Echo!! Playing some dub techno chords from the Dave Smith / Sequential Prophet Rev2.

Man everytime I hear this thing I get super GAS for it, and everytime i look it up it's more expensive! What a gorgeous bit of kit :)

I know, right! That's why I bought it now haha. I can tell you it sounds awesome in combination with the raw oscillators and filter from the REV2.

i was thinking about buying the prophet6, but at the end, i i really want to go for the rev2, i just like the sound more, not a price discusion... i am maybe the only one, but who cares :p the only thing i really liked (more) about the P6 is the nice analog dist.

Rev2 sounds great and has more modulation options than the p6

Virus ti2 vs rev2 for this type of dubby hypnotic things? Traditionaly it always has been a digital synth but synths like rev2 and prologue impress me every time i hear em on ytube

I have no experience with the Virus. However both will do fine I guess. I had a Korg Minilogue tho but sold it when I got the Rev2. Prophet sounded warmer/fuller to me. I do know Rhythm and Sound / Basic Channel had a Prophet 5. Analog does give a bit more warmth and little changes in the sound overtime compared to digital, but you can program that in of course.

awesome. I just bought one myself. Is the space echo able to handle the line level input/output straigth from the synth?

Sounds Amazing! how do you get the Stereo? i thought re 201 is mono only.

The delay is mono indeed. But the synth is in stereo, I guess you hear that.

I so want to get into doing this. Where does one go to start learning about these systems?

The RE-201 is pretty simple to use. The REV2 however is quite a complex synth. You will be need to learn synthesis and the basics of audio engineering to connect everything up.
