So true. Its vital that real estate agents see themselves as entrepreneurs and not employees of the broker. So so true.

You did a wonderful job explaining the pros and cons of being a real estate agent. I have thought about pursuing this field for roughly the last 12 years mostly to start on a part-time basis. But I have been warned more than once to not do so because it takes becoming involved a 100% to become successful. Since starting my current video business this year that I do part time, which hasn't been successful thus far. I have given it even more thought.

I'm seriously looking into it. This has helped alot. I've been in the restaurant industry for the past 15 years and I'm just over it. I just got a job offer to be an agent's assistant and I know nothing about real estate. But I think I'm going to take it as a foot in the door while I take my courses. Ill still also be working in the restaurant waiting tables until I can finish my courses and transfer over completely

Hi there =) I really appreciate this video. I'm struggling with that fear of uncertainty as so many people do...however, I know that no job is ever certain. I have been leaning more toward becoming an agent essentially because I wanted to invest. Now, that I am pursuing more info about being an agent, tho, I'm finding it to be more interesting and suited to my needs and personality. I was very concerned that I'd only find the pros of being an agent and would later be blind-sided or perpetually in fear of the un-known cons...so THANK YOU =). Thank you for this candid video. I will be checking out your course also. All the best!Cheers!Vanessa Redford

OK, there might be some cons of being a real estate agent, but when it comes to the pros of having a career in real estate, nothing beats it. I mean is there any line of work that comes with flexible schedule, no tight hours and makes you feel like you are your own boss? We all know what the answer is - a big fat NO. If we keep looking at the negatives, we will never be able to enjoy all the positives that this career path has to offer you. Cutting it short, if you want to become a real estate agent, just do it. lastly, I have seen here many people asking the same question, "what are the courses/classes that you have to take to become a real estate agent." The answer is pretty simple, it depends on which state you live in. Different states have different duration for the course. For example, in Georgia, the hour limit to complete the course is 75 hours, while in California, its 135 hours. Do a simple Google search on your states' requirements before taking the course. And if you're too lazy to do a Google search, then this is the place to find your required information: sellectrealty.com/georgia-real-estate-commission/ And if you are looking to kick-start a career in the booming real estate of Georgia, know what the experts have to say about this, right here: sellectrealty.com/real-estate-careers

@SusanMilner
@SusanMilner 3 жыл бұрын
MC, Thank you for your comment. That's a loaded question that cannot be accurately answered. Some people think working hard means something different than other people. I have found that the majority of new agents, who work hard, with a plan end up earning the same income they were making in their previous career or slightly more within the first year. I hope that helps! Good luck :D

Andréas Remis PLANT BASED VEGAN - This video just about explains it. Most good brokerages have training - Don't sign with anyone else as a new agent. The only way you'd know for sure is just do it and see how you like it. You may want to do an internship for a couple of months with an experienced agent - you'd likely know right then if this is for you. All the best!

Great video! I'm worried about passing the realestate exam. All the legal jargon gets me really confused and I'm worried I'm going to put in all the time for the classes and not be able to pass. Also I'm afraid that I won't be able to understand people's questions because they will ask me some sort of legal question and I may not know it. Honestly I've already sat through all the 30 hours of mandatory classes here in MA a few years back and got scared and never took my exam that's how scared I am. I just turned 30 and own my own dog walking business but can't do this forever so I'm toying with the idea of taking the classes over again but my anxiety about the legal jargon is making me think that I can't do it. What do you think? For someone that reads a legal document and doesn't understand half of the words... is this going to be a waste of time? Thanks for your help!
@SusanMilner
@SusanMilner 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah, thanks for your comment. As a real estate agent you shouldn't be answering legal questions at all. Those should always be referred to the correct professional. I'm not sure where you are located but the real estate schools around me are great at teaching agents the information. Since you've been through it once I think you'll find a lot of 'ah ha' moments during take 2 :D I just made a video yesterday on mindset. This might be useful for you to listen to as well. Let me know what you think & how it goes. Good luck!!

Could i do real estate on the side of a full time job?
@SusanMilner
@SusanMilner 8 жыл бұрын
+Joy C It is difficult. But NOT impossible. I always suggest that someone looking to make their way into real estate part time have a plan to do it full time. Whether it is in 3 months, 6 months or a year - doesn't matter. But make a plan and be prepared to work hard!

Susan Milner The only problem it that I do not know where to start when getting my license becaue I have been directed to may websites to take different courses and I was also told that the only state that you could get your license for is NY, is that true?

Thank you Susan!! I am 15 years old and Real estate is something i've always wanted to do. I've even brought a book on it "Real Estate Investing For Dummies" I've been reading it and seems really interesting! But does it require schooling? Will i need to goto college to be in real estate?
@5050TM
@5050TM 8 жыл бұрын
No. College is not necessary. You must be a certain age, however. I think it is 18, so finish high school :) Good for you for learning early! Good luck in life!

as a realtor do you have to be a mortgage agent
@SusanMilner
@SusanMilner 8 жыл бұрын
Not at all. In fact, these are two very different careers. Very few real estate agents actually have their mortgage broker's license & vice versa. I can't imagine how one would have time to keep up with both successfully.

Is real estate good as a side job?
@SusanMilner
@SusanMilner 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Clyde, thanks for your question. Personally, I don't advise that. If you start off part time with a plan to move into full time it can work but trying to do real estate as a 'side job' isn't going to work out very well in my personal opinion.

Do brokerages at least give realtors health insurance?

Andréas Remis PLANT BASED VEGAN Thanks for your question. And I do not know of any that do. Real estate agents are independent contractors and therefore they are the owners of their own businesses. There are many options out there for getting health insurance on their own or through group plans though.

Hi Pedro, good luck & congrats on getting into real estate so young. I wouldn't really change much of what I did/didn't do but definitely treat it like a business, have a plan, get out and meet people, be honest, continue to learn and have fun!

@SusanMilner
@SusanMilner 9 жыл бұрын
GezzaHD You can if you work hard. Agents can earn anywhere from ZERO to Millions a year. It's your own business so the sky is the limit but you only get paid when you work.

The best advise anyone that actually has $30k or more is to invest it in stocks. In the same amount of time (3-6 months) you can earn the same ($10k) as if you had spent the past 3 months working your keister off trying to sell houses.

That's an insane suggestion. Stocks are the most volatile way to invest your money and it's 50/50 whether you'd gain or lose money in that short amount of time. I sure hope you're not a financial advisor...

Wow, glad you have something nice to say. Why comment on something you aren’t interested in? Clearly your self esteem is lacking and you have to poo poo on someone else trying to put informative information out. Good information to boot. You’re an ugly person on the inside. Guessing You don’t even care about the real estate industry. You are just trolling from your moms basement to make yourself feel better.
