Hello, nice video. Am thinking about moving back to Norfolk, after having lived in West Virginia for the last few years, maybe I really miss the water. I was a Norfolk police officer so am VERY familiar with the city... and Ghent is WAY over my budget. Am curious what is the real estate market like? Incidentally I lived in Cape View and before that in Park Place (a nice street, believe it or not). Also am a veteran so VA loan might be an option.

I’m moving to Norfolk/VA Beach in a few weeks and right away noticed the lack of new real estate . Coming from Texas, there is lots of space , new houses and apartments. Searching in VA everything looks like it’s old & renovated and overly priced for what it is .

Hi, yes I can understand your frustrations! Overall in our area you'll find less on the market across the board, for both rentals and those for sale. What's the best heating and cooling systems to get in the Virginia Beach/norfolk area? I'm from the west coast and i don't understand the systems used in Virginia.

Once here if you need a great company referral of someone to help you with any HVAC needs I've got you covered! But rest assured, you don't need to understand the ins and outs prior to moving, a great home inspector during the home inspection should take time to go over the HVAC systems within the house and answer any and all questions. And yes, I have just such a home inspector to take excellent care of my clients!

I guess you have no listings in Ocean Veiw because you failed to speak on our beautiful beaches. I see houses condos and apartment buildings going up everywhere. Lack of new construction?? Have you drove around anywhere but downtown Ghent and Larchmont?

I was thinking the same thing. Ocean View has new construction. There are so many ethnic communities and they didn't name one. I guess their buyers are White.

You do know that OV and Bayview aren't really desirable urban neighborhoods right? Extremely high crime, bad public transit, little to do as its a suburb, and they're not "pretty" like the areas surrounding downtown and midtown. Shit I lived in OV, and as soon as I could, I did move. Yeah, the beach is gorgeous. I used to go out there and see the luminescent jellyfish and tides...until a creepy guy (and I'm a guy) propositioned me, and when I declined, took his pants off and ran at me. Reported to police..."yeah we keep hearing about him, but he's too hard to catch!...so weird!" Furthermore, the city needs low income housing, it has to go somewhere. But its not a selling point, people do not desire to live in sec 8. They do it because they have to. So yeah lets all move to those "ethnic neighborhoods". Lets go to those communities, gentrify them, and then people, like you, can complain about that.

@@wilurbean ethnic communities don't mean low income. You are stereotyping ethnic communities. Middle Town Arch is a middle class ethnic community. There are many more. Projects are low income. Not all Black people live in the projects. The homes across from Middle Town Arch is ethnic. It is full of merchant seaman and long shoremen and their families. Not all parts of OV are bad.

@@TheLifeofJenelle middle town arch looks like new low income subsidized housing, like the condos next to Kroger and 264 in portsmouth or the homes near Columbia Park. Those other areas I mentioned are shiny, newer, next to industrial areas, and despite the looks are still very high crime areas. The area immediately surrounding middle town arch is also pretty rough. Rough areas tend to be near industrial areas, and highways. If you wanted to pick an ethnic, desirable, and still relatively cheap but up and coming area, park place around 35th and moving towards colonial place would be a good example. As would perhaps Lindenwood. The reality of Norfolk is that the traditionally ethnic areas are impoverished and high crime. I don't believe the intention of this video was to exclude people based on color or ethnicity, only to sell the most desirable homes. The goal of the video is sales. The places they did mention like Ghent, and the gentrified areas around PETA are incredibly diverse, although not really known for it historically.

Well they are mean they don't care if you are a man or a woman, they will also lie to the judge because I should know when I got in trouble back in 1995 they heard what I said about give them an unloaded 38 cal pistol because I took in a couple over the Christmas holidays and they refuse to leave and when I called the police to get them out I didn't want to leave my gun in the apt because I was afraid they would shot me with it

I was a Norfolk policeman for years, and "mean" is not a word that comes to mind! As for "racist", the Chief is black, as are many police officers. And I'm Latino by the way.
