After having lived in most major cities in Canada (growing up an army brat and having served in both the Navy and the Army), I would have to say Ottawa has more cultural diversity and restaurant diversity than many larger cities, because of all the Embassies from almost every country in the world, their staff and their families living here. Ottawa might not have as many, or as large nightclubs as some bigger cities, but that is about all that is missing. We more than make up for that with all the galleries, museums, music festivals, street celebrations etc...and of course Canada Day in Ottawa is BETTER than anywhere else!

Ottawa is o.k. maybe above average, nice places to eat and a lot of nature to see. But traffic is as bad as Montreal , entertainment is nowhere near that of other major cities, transit sucks ever since they opened the o-train and it takes FOREVER to get to and from a Sens game

@@davidmoye5959 I lived in Montreal for 2 years. Worst drivers anywhere in Canada. Worst hwy markings, turn offs literally marked just before the turn and you have 3 or 4 lanes to try to cut through.....end up taking the next turn off and it takes forever due to all the one way traffic and irregular streets. Sure montreal has better nightlife which is great when you are 20 to 30, but it gets old after that. And I live a 15 minute walk (or 2 minute drive) from the Canadian Tire Center. I used to hate travelling to the old Forum and the Bell Centre in Montreal as it took hours to get there from where I lived in the South Shore.....guess it all depends on what you want and what part of town you live in.

Really good video...one positive you left out is all the festivals and cultural events that happen around the city all year round as another pro to moving there. I am aiming and setting my sights on moving to Ottawa from Newfoundland between July and September of next year and reestablish my photography business there, then my girlfriend will be moving to Ottawa shortly after from Nova Scotia. We are both then going to be launching a KZfaq travel channel.

It has a mix of so much eclectic atmospheres and Ottawa is truly a melting pot of so many multiethnicities from all over the world. Ottawa is a very pleasant town that I have visited 3 times. It has some great museums, and the Byward Market, and of course, the Rideau Canal, which is nice in all seasons. I like the "green necklace" that surrounds the city - with nice parks and bikeways, and the pedestrian street downtown is a plus. It is bi-lingual also, which is a plus to me. The fact that it is a govt town (most people living off a net zero system) is a turnoff. Otherwise, it is a quality city (puts Wash, DC to shame!), and Montreal is only 2 hours away for a cultural powerhouse! The Scandinavian spa in Gatineau is wonderful, as well as the NP there. I like Montreal better, but Ottawa is a place I could live in and enjoy.

The first time I arrived in Vancouver in 2018, I was shocked. As soon as I left the airport door, I saw tissue, disposable glasses, and other garbage left in the city. The further I went, the more I saw them. Before I moved to Canada, I lived in Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Serbia, The United States, and for a short time in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Netherland, Germany, and England, but I have never seen the amount of garbage that people leave in different Canadian cities. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec are no less than Vancouver. I'm so sorry for Canada. Canadian and Canadian Governments don't care about this tragedy. I think everything that says about Canada as a clean and powerful culture is not true. You don't need to travel to Canada to see this. Just watch some videos about walking in downtown Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec. You will find the truth. Impossible for you to walk in a Canadian city and you don't see the dark side of that. Everywhere you will see garbage. You will never see like this in Europe or the United States. It is impossible for you to use public transport and not see a lot of garbage at stations or on the route. You will be surprised to find a lot of garbage even in the woods - by the rivers and on the beach. I wish the Canadians woke up and had no enmity with their country. Canada is the best place in the world.

I think every city has its good side and bad, whether it's a specific area, crime or even garbage. But one thing that Ottawa has is stability as a market and an overall safe city to be in, live and raise a family. I've lived in much larger cities before and to me Ottawa is a comfort level. It's not perfect but I'm glad it has what it offers. Thanks for tuning in!

Ottawa does not have a functioning transit system. It is completely unreliable & keeps breaking down due to the winter ice & snow. Restaurants are sad & pathetic very few serve anything but fast pre-frozen tasteless so called food. The homeless situation has become so much worse over the years as well as the garbage littering the streets. The gangs have become a major issue in the city with complete lack of police presence. Via rail and international airline travel have become overpriced, inconvenient and lacking in access. Most people are unfriendly and rude. Trust me I grew up here.
@AndreiMedow
@AndreiMedow Жыл бұрын
I think that, like every city, there are problems in some areas. I do agree that the transit system is taking longer than it should to be fully functioning but this is because of the lack of previous experience and management on such a large scale - but when it's ready, it'll be a very important step in Ottawa's future. The homeless situation I feel got worse during Covid lockdown as they began to explore more streets downtown and now it's a nuisance for many. Airlines in general anywhere are now overpriced - I agree. Let's hope that more open socialization will happen in the next year so that we can get back to how it used to be!
