Mark McClinchie is a real estate agent in #Pittsburgh PA with Compass RE. I am a retired public school teacher and principal, and have first-hand experience and inside knowledge of area school districts and programs. I grew up in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh (graduated from North Allegheny), and now live in Mt Lebanon with my amazing wife and four children (one in college and three in Mt. Lebanon schools). I love travelling (especially to Disney), great food/drink (coffee snob), and love playing/watching sports (PNC Park is the BEST).

I received a question about Eagles/Steelers rivalry. Back in the 30s/40s this was a heated battle. But in the NFL era the Eagles are in the NFC and the Steelers in the AFC. They play once every four years and just didn’t have the energy like the Steelers/Browns/Ravens.

I was born in Lehigh Valley, PA but raised in South Jersey and took the Speedline into Philly for work for many years. We visited mostly the Downtown Pittsburgh area in the early 2000’s. As much as we love Philly, I remember us being very impressed with Pittsburgh. We’ve been retired in the Tampa Bay Area for the last seven years and are seriously considering relocating again. I’ve been watching your videos and Pittsburgh is definitely at the top of our list. Honestly, one of the big drawbacks, no Wawa. 😯 Wawa even followed us to FL. 🍀 We’ve been to Sheetz on our many past PA travels. Team Wawa 😜 But should we decide on Pittsburgh, we’ll definitely give you a call. I like your representation of your city (good & bad) and the different topics you cover. My favorite is all of your Pittsburgh T-shirts. Keep up the great work!

Appreciate your comments! I have only been to a few Wawa's but the ones I went to didn't have made to order food. Is that true with all Wawas? I am not passionate about gas station convenience stores - but what makes Wawa so good? (And, more importantly, definitely give me a call when you are ready to move to the 'Burgh!!)

@@markknowspittsburgh Any Wawa I’ve ever been to has always had a “deli” section where you order your food, salads, milkshakes, iced coffees etc. on a display screen and they prepare it for you. They do also have a refrigerated section in the middle of the floor with pre-made sandwiches, salads and other on-the-go snacks. Wawa is the only gas station convenience store I’ll go to because they truly are like two separate entities that happen to share a parking lot.

@@markknowspittsburgh There's the Blue Route, which took about a half century to build. It reminds me of the Century Freeway in LA, which they say is named for the fact that it took so long to build. I'm really torn between Philly and P-burg. It's very difficult to get to P-burg from Washington by public transit. When I was an undergrad @upenn, I didn't process the fact that some of the towers on Rittenhouse might be owned by students. It's even more true today, and they might be students from China.

According to the data I found, health care and education are a larger segment of the economy for Philadelphia than they are for Pittsburgh. Which isn't to say both health care (UMPC, Highmark, etc.) and education aren't incredibly vital to the Pittsburgh economy.

Visiting Pittsburgh any time of year is a great idea to get a feel. The Lehigh Valley is a nice area but Allentown and Bethlehem don't have the urban amenities that bigger cities have. Sure you are not far from Philadelphia and NYC but still would likely only be on 'special' excursions. Whereas Pittsburgh you can have a quaint suburban or even small town feel and still only be 15-20 minutes from downtown. Check out my video for a suggested weekend trip to Pittsburgh - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gN6FnJlinJ2vaZ8.html.

Philly definitely has worse highway congestion around the city due to the combination of higher population and Jersey drivers lol But I find Pittsburgh itself MUCH harder to drive in just due to the roadways themselves. Steep, twisting, and narrow. Not that Philly itself is particularly fun to drive in, I just think the layout is a little better with how flat it is. Only thing that sucks are some of the intersections with 16 different routes lol
