We thought it would be fun to make a video about the pros & cons of goldendoodles! In this video we'll talk a little bit about grooming, training, and more. We have two goldendoodle puppies and they're the best dogs ever!! If you're thinking about getting one.. just do it!!!
Sorry, we're a little all over the place - we had a maintenance guy over and had to film outside - and we're still getting used to this whole filming thing!

We have an F1B named Chester (other way around for us, mom is a goldendoodle - golden & standard, dad is a standard poodle). Had him since he was a baby. He is everyone's best friend. Gets along with other dogs, even aggressive ones. Except bunnies, which he chases endlessly. He's never caught one (even though he is very fast, they are faster). No matter what we do with him, he acts like it is the best thing he's ever done. He loves going to the groomer and vet. Every other dog we've ever had it was always a struggle to get them in the doors. He lives for car rides. He has a very expressive face. Very easy to tell when he is excited about something. A serious creature of habit. As soon as it starts to get dark outside, he starts staring at me, waiting for his walk. We've had dogs for more than 30 years, random mixes. After having Chester, we will only get goldendoodles. The shedding is significantly less than any other breed we've had, and yes the grooming is essential. Costs us about $100 every 6-8 weeks. He pretty much came potty trained from the breeder. He does have some weird funny quirks, but we just chock that up to him being Chester. All the clerks at Home Depot, Joann's, etc. know him by name. Really nice to have a dog that we do not have to worry about any guests coming into our house. Best dog we've ever had, by far. And we've had some really good dogs.

As a groomer, I would advise to keep a close look at their ears if you’re gonna groom them at home, they tend to get ear infections with all the hair in their ears, that needs to be removed... your babies are so adorable!! Enjoy every moment with them...

Picking up my doodle floof boy tomorrow, and I can’t wait! He’s an F1 GD. I lost my Golden Retriever to old age last September, and my Great Pyrenees/ Newfie mix has been grieving his loss ever since. I couldn’t bring myself to get another purebred Golden, so the F1 GD seemed like a good compromise. My Newfie Pyr only sheds during spring and summer, so it’s been really nice not dealing with tumble weeds of hair flying around, but my Golden Retriever used to shed ALL year, lol. Anyway, I’m ready for the hair this time, and I’m just so excited to hold my little puppy and give him a loving home.

You two make me feel happy- you are very much in love plus you love Golden Doodles. I have a standard Groodle (which is what we call Golden Doodles in Australia) with a shaggy woollen coat just like Silo and just as big! . He doesn't shed at all but sure likes to get wet and muddy. They are hilarious dogs and I agree can be stubborn at times. He is very good at picking my pocket!

Beautiful pooches. I have a recommendation for food. Poodle breeds have a tendency to get ear infections caused by grain in their food. Get a good grain free like Canidae. Once we figured it out we never had an ear infection again. Never give them bread either, it will cause infections as well. Love the video.

Thanks for posting this video Both of you are totally awesome and so are your dogs. I just retired and really want lo get a golden doodle for companionship and exercise. I wonder Your thoughts on two things - First I live on a semi busy road with a sidewalk and see quite a few olher dogs being walked. Is a golden doodle likely to bolt out of a house when someone opens the front door. Any precautions we should take to keep them safe. And second we have a 1/4 acre chain link fenced in yard. How likely is it that a golden doodle will climb or jump over a 4 foot fence. Thanks.
@thegrantfam5787
@thegrantfam5787 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much!! Goldendoodles are definitely very loyal dogs and shouldn’t run off, but it is different for every dog! As long as you make sure you’re not keeping the door wide open, it shouldn’t be a problem! We’ve never had issues with our pups jumping over the fence! They like to stay in the yard and play with the ball ☺️

Ok so I'm late to the party (two years? lol) but hopefully you can answer my question. It's about grooming ... I've heard some horror stories about matting etc ... some say that if you don't brush/comb them DAILY this can lead to matting issues. Other say you only need to give them a good brushing about once a week or so. What's your advice? (We're getting our pup in a couple of days!)
@thegrantfam5787
@thegrantfam5787 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It depends on the dood - one of ours has more golden retriever-type hair and doesn’t need to be brushes as often. The other has more curly-poodle hair and needs to be brushed almost every day or he’ll get matted! Your puppy will have a puppy coat for the first 6ish months and then you’ll start to notice how their hair is/how often they need brushed :)
