@@twotonesmybones John Branch pretty much summed it up in his video lenses are smaller/lighter, the color I get off my Fuji is so much better, the nostalgic feel of there camera bodys I also prefer the tilt screen over the fully articulated screen. So much of what you said rang 100% true to my experiences. I sold my Canon gear on eBay in 2016 (for a pretty good price) and used the proceeds to purchase a Fujifilm's X-T2 and a few lenses (this year I upgraded to the Fujifilm X-T5). It seemed that the older I got, the heavier that Canon gear felt! Speaking of weight, the X-T5 with a 23 or 35 mm lens is so light! BTW, I used to shoot film back in the old days, and the controls on the Fujifilm camera brought me back to the days of shooting film for FUN. And if I want that film look, Fuji's got great film simulations. Man, I could go on-and-on about how much I like my X-T5 (and the X-T2 that I upgraded from).And seriously, if a 40 megapixel image isn't big enough for you, I don't know what you're doing?

Completely agree with everything you said. The size and weight are perfect for me as I have small hands, the colours straight out of camera are amazing, and if you're used to shooting film or are interested in starting then it's a good transition. On top of all that the price point is so good! The quality you get is incredible for how much you actually pay.

I use Fujfilm since X-T2 release (about 2016), when I start shot wedding I think they may not good enough (speed or image quality). At that moment I saw your video on KZfaq, you change my mind and I stick with Fuji till now. And I absolutely agree all your point in this video: 1. Good or bad photo depend on photographers but not cameras. 2. Fujifilm design keep the vibe for photography but not shutter controller. 3. Weight is more important when I am getting old (Fuji726g vs Canon1440g) and carrying 6-10hours for wedding. 4. Less editing time for a huge amount of photos. (especially nice Skin tone) If I need to point out a Cons with my 5years wedding experience, I would say face detect and chasing focus, I remember 5years ago, Fuji and Sony is quite the same but now Sony is crazy powerful even low light or wide angle. I wish Fuji upgrade this so I can rely on face detect or continous focus to capture a better walk-in, exit ceremony photos.

To document my family and kids, walk around and taking pictures or video for fun then the xt-3 all the way. Battery life sucks on the xt3 compared to to a7iii. That’s one of the reasons I might upgrade to the xt4.

I agree that you can do weddings with any camera system and with a crop sensor, after all I was doing it with a crop sensor body before going full frame, I'll disagree about the color science. The colors do look good on Fuji but I prefer the color science of the system I'm using. After a shoot I don't like doing any heavy edits, I don't need to since I learned to get it right in camera. I 💯 agree with your conclusion. It's not about the tool it's how you use it. I make sure I get my shots right to about 90-95%. My setup is heavier than a Fuji setup but I really don't feel it. About the lenses I use the budget friendly versions and sometimes I wonder if I really need the heavier luxury versions😅. I do love your content though, I learned a lot from you and agree with a lot you have to say. Keep it up bro.

I have all systems, Canon 5D classic, Nikon D4,used to have the a7iv, sold it and got the Fuji XT4 the downside and better price on lenses. Immediately I felt in love with Fuji colors, like John said you don’t need to edit. Recently I switched to the xt5 and that 40mp can compete with any full frame sensor, it’s sharpe as hell. I also recently got a a7rii to shoot with vintage lenses , it’s also very sharp and has more depth of field but I prefer Fuji colors and rendering

I am new to the Fuji world. I use the R6 with Sigma 40 & 105 as my main portrait lenses for my business. I have a X100v and X-H1 ( 13-33-75 Viltrox) lenses. John nailed it, the weight of the gear makes it MUCH easier on the body. I have my XH1, 3 lenses in a LowePro BP150 bag and I have room for 3-4 more primes. My R6 bag with just a 70-200 2.8 weighs the same as the Fuji bag. The more I use the Fuji, the more I want to shoot the Fuji system more. Creating fun recipes, having banger SOOC jpegs has become addictive. I feel I am getting “lazier” and don’t want to spend a ton of time on edits for personal work. The 2023 season will be the first for me to use for client work. I am REALLY considering selling both my bodies to get a X-H2 for the expanded film sims and better eye AF. I will keep the R6 rig as there will be a need for those shoots. The R6/105 is just too good for my headshot work but the XH1-75mm will be my creative portrait go-to.

Couldn't agree more with everything you said. I've been doing weddings for about 5 years now and have only ever used Fujifilm - starting with the X-T1! These cameras have come such a long way, but have always been wonderful for these situations. Other photographers in town are often surprised to learn I don't use a FF sensor, and all this talk of noise and low light performance just does not seem to matter to my clients - I love the soft look of the Fuji noise. I've tried both Nikon and Canon and was very surprised to see how hideous their higher ISOs looked, not that there was more noise, but that the Fuji noise just looks so much more pleasing and less intrusive. I also picked up my second shooter's Canon on Saturday and was shocked at how much it weighed - far more than both my X-T4 and X-T2 combined. And the price! Especially for gear that gets so much abuse at weddings, being able to buy backups of every lens for less than the cost of a single equivalent on another system is amazing. I also feel you on the editing, it's sometimes a bit of a quandary when you get home and pull up the images and think... "I'm not sure if editing would improve this photo in any way." I was a classic chrome person for years but this past year have been exclusively using Pro Negative H and really love it - a bit more of the greens back in compared to CC but not that almost sickly green from the Adobe profiles. Love these videos and it's great to get reassurance that yes, these cameras ARE wonderful for weddings (and tons of other applications).

@Julius_S Жыл бұрын
@@christophsauer2857 Looking at my most recent wedding, almost half of the photos were with the 56mm 1.2 WR, 17% with the 23mm 1.4 (the old version), 20% with the Viltrox AF 13mm 1.4 (LOVE this lens! Especially shutter dragging on the dance floor), and 14% with the Tamron 17-70 2.8, which I was trying out for the first time and only used during the ceremony - not quite sold on that lens as it is very soft at 70mm, but not like vintage Nikkor, bloomy dreamy soft, more like a fuzzy, aperture-at-f22-but-with-bokeh kind of soft. A note on the portrait lens - the old 56mm 1.2 worked incredibly well for me until I got the X-T4, which STILL has an AF bug with that lens. So I upgraded to the 50mm 1.0 which is of course incredible, but very heavy and bulky. The new 56 1.2 still focuses much slower than the 50 1.0, but even on the X-T4 it's more than enough for my satisfaction, and it's perfectly sharp at 1.2.

I love Fuji and owned the cameras for about 8 years, but that new AF system isn’t reliable enough for me for any type of event work. I’ve had so many false positives and times were AF will just snap out of focus as soon as I press the shutter, plus quite a few times where the camera just freezes up. I just bought an A7iv for the AF reliability and GM glass. Have you not experienced anything similar?

The cost is so important. I'm a landscape guy looking to sell a full a7riii Sony kit and move to fuji. Lighter for hiking and camping is certainly a plus but the cost factor is huge. Imagine 2 people that dream of being pro landscape photographers. 1 starts saving and slowly aquiring used full frame gear and the other is quickly able to get into apsc. The apsc guy starts creating much sooner. Doesn't second guess taking a light system out more frequently, getting in the reps and practice composition and editing. Full frame guy dreams of what he can do when he finally saves up to afford some 3rd party glass for his system and can reach 400mm. Nvm ever upgrading the body.. You're stuck with whatever the used market lists 6-8yrs after the fact to keep prices low. That was me. I'm full frame guy. I asked myself one day.. Would it be better to start buying all this heavy expensive gear.. Or going on trips to put myself in front of beautiful places with a smaller system. I can finally afford to keep up with innovation or even 2nd body's to play with video or for weddings ect. The perks start to really add up. If you're rich, by all means enjoy, but I don't feel like I'll miss anything being on fuji.

@@jbivphotography so true, the x100v is a good camera especially for those who like the 35mm eq, but let's be honest, it's overpriced and those fashion vitcims who are just hanging it around their neck just for the style are not helping when it comes to price increase. There are many Fuji cameras that are very good to start in Fuji system and that also have the ability to change lenses. I think the x100v is a good camera for those who already know know to take photos, who already know their favorite focal length or those who really want to learn photography with constraints like some of us did on film and cameras with one focal length.

I use to have an XT2, XPRO2 and XT3 but the only lens that gives a f1.4 equivalent in 50mm-ish focal length is the Mitakon or Viltrox 35mm f0.95. Also the highlight recovery is a pain not to mention the poor lowlight capability. You are correct when you said whatever camera you have as long as you take great images, so I'm sticking with my Sonys for fast AF and bokeh, and Fujifilm GFX50S. Regarding color science, I agree that Fujifilm has the best color science SOOC, but I always shoot in raw and edit all my images before I give them to client so that is not a factor to consider. I still have an APS-C fujifilm camera which is XE3, which I grab for personal use only, not for weddings. For the price of the lenses and body, I kinda disagree - the price of an XT5 right now is comparable (or even higher) to a Sony A7iii which is way better in all aspects (maybe except for the physical look). For the lenses, there are very cheap third party lenses which shoot at f1.4 like the Sigma and Samyang (cheaper than Fujifilm counterpart) - a good example is the fujifilm 50mm f1.0 which is way expensive than Samyang 85mm f1.4 mark II for Sony. Anyway, you shoot what you like. Cheers!

Agree 100% with those pros. The only thing someone can argue is about the sensors. Full frame vs APS-C. The benefits of dynamic range, high ISO performance, depth of field is there with FF. But you can fix that by adding a flash for low light situations. Also, Fuji makes amazing, compact medium format cameras. Hoping that market becomes more affordable. So if someone really wants the best out of their sensors, Fuji will be the best option.
@jbivphotography

Honestly I’m not convinced that there are that many cons to crop sensor. If I would more depth of field just shoot with a longer lens. In practice I can take photos and if no one knew what the camera was they wouldn’t be able to tell that it was FF.

I don't see even these specific FF advantages being relevant anymore. The 50mm f/1.0 for Fuji is less than an 85mm 1.4 on most other systems, and the high ISO performance of Fuji is wonderful, even going back to the X-T2. The noise may creep in, but I'd take the pleasing, uniform, soft noise of the X-T4 over the bright red, blue and green dots that show up even in the Nikon Z7 at similar ISOs any day, not that I'm knocking that amazing camera!
@arvanitiszoisxx
@arvanitiszoisxx Жыл бұрын
@@Julius_S I think at the end of the day, it's all about the price and the kind of shootings someone does. In Europe, the XT5 costs the same as a Canon R6. The prime lenses are also about the same price (not the l series ones). Someone who wants to choose one of those systems, has to take everything into consideration.

How is the battery life on the Fujifilm X systems? How many batteries would you usually take to an 8 hour wedding shoot for one camera body?

If it's a system using the newer batteries (like the X-T5 or the X-H2/2s) usually I take 3/4 batteries. So one in camera, and then 2/3 backups to swap to.

I'm not a wedding photographer. I do wildlife and landscape amongst other genres. However there are some points of commonality. The weight issue is key for me. I'm of an age where bits of me don't work as well as they used to and the difference between carrying a Fuji system up big hills or mountains with the other stuff for a day out and say Sony which I also own is considerable. I have several obsessions when it comes to gear. First is weight obvs. Then the range of glass available. Then glass that is bright and displays minimal chromatic aberration. Then last but not least the ability to crop the crap out of an image to print. My A7R IV isn't going anywhere. It is going to be used in future for wildlife, especially the big stuff that runs around, and Macro where the extra MP are well brill.
@jbivphotography

Oh totally. Weight for landscape and wildlife is huge and the fact that your body isn’t adding so much of the weight and it’s mainly just a bigger lens I’m sure is a HUGE help.

I switched from Canon mirrorless to Fuji and there definitely some cons, first of all the AF I found horrible! XH2s seems to be worse then my XT4, i don’t know what it is but it just constantly losses the subject and back focuses especially when there is a lot of back light on locations. I can put up with the extra noise as it is more like grain rather then noise. But when i have throw out so many nice moments because AF failing to get pin focus and it just unusuable for one time events. The colors and skin are great so its a real shame. Still going to keep the XT4 for my personal stuff but im going to hook up with a Sony a4 and tamron lenses i have heard a lot of good things.

HELPPP…Would this be a good choice for family portraits, new born, and young fast paced children photography? I have been doing so much research but i just keep going back and forth between all cameras.. so far i keep coming across the Cannon R6 with RF50mm 1.2 lens, Sony a7IV with Tamron 35-150mm 2.8, and Nikon Z8.. Just watched a review for the Nikon, which turned me off of it. Now I am questioning this before I get deeply invested. I am a mom and I want to start my own business and for some reason the Cannon and Sony just don’t excite me. I think because they are maybe too common? Im not sure what it is about it. I would like a softer look to my photos and more a pleasing to look at. I felt when I look at Nikon photos it seems more wildlife, sport mode, sharper to look at. Please if someone can respond to help me I’m desperate at this point!! LOL

It's fair to say "look & feel" and "colour science" are purely subjective (and ostensibly boil down to the same thing - preference). I tried the XT3 with the best lenses Fuji could offer and found the image quality far inferior to my Canon R5 (although they served another need in my kit). I've since moved the XT3 and Fuji lenses on. As a casual bird and wildlife photographer I'm not fussed by the weight. Perhaps there's something to be said for price, however, with the Canon R8 coming in cheaper than the XT5 and the R6 mkII coming in about the same price as the XH2S, you're basically quibbling about lens prices (which I will accept there is a disparity and is a worthy consideration as a whole eco-system). Ultimately, it boils down to what makes you happy. Strangely, the Fuji system did not make me want to go out and shoot, whereas my Canon systems do. And that is way more important than any other consideration (both ways).
