I'm hearing this again a year later and I'm so awestruck seeing this family singing this altogether like an anthem, like a hymn to Kate. And there's also little Anna who was so much part the duo. So there they are. I saw it on CBC in Christmas 2015 and then late at night on FM2 and I'm lost for words. Come home to Mama, come home to Mama. And I think all the family meant every word. Thank you Kate, thank you Anna, thank you all the McGarrigles and Wainwrights. So much talent is so overwhelming.

One of their best renditions that I’ve seen. It’d be great to have on Spotify.

Don't we all want to join in and sing this haunting, beautiful song by Kate McGarrigle and all the family? Based on a Greek legend of Persophone etc. but brought up to date to tell us all about family and acceptance.

Beautiful! Well done Anna, Rufus, Martha and everyone! Moving tribute to Kate. Thanks for sharing D - very much appreciated as we couldn't travel to Montreal from Hamilton. You're a sweetheart ❤️

Incredibly moving. I don't know that I could handle an hour plus of this. Willing to try next Christmas if I can though.

I don't think it's possible for Humanity in the future to create something in music more powerful and meaningful than the family Kate created

This feels too intimate to watch.

However - her mother is Ceres, not Hera - you'd think one of that crew might have noticed. SHeesh.
@audobone6 жыл бұрын
datson hughes Another way of reading the lyrics is to consider that Hera isn't referred to as the mother. Maybe they're separate. Mother and Hera. It would make some sense considering Hera is considered the queen of the Gods. Secondly, it's a song. Things have to sound good. "Ceres" wouldn't.

Great song but that also bugs the shit out of me. Also, Hera is Juno in Roman mythology...makes no sense to mix Greek and Roman names.

Hera and Ceres are one and the same
@sophiebisson13963 жыл бұрын
@@christinabier998 non Hera= Juno, and Demeter= Ceres; Proserpina is Demeter's daughter. This song is wonderful and so touching though, despite this inaccuracy 😊
