I always wanted to go gold panning and then they discovered gold in the creek I`d swam in hundreds of times and now it`s NO TRESPASSING! In Louisiana! Old people told us there were some people who made money panning for gold here during the great depression and we thought they were lying! Anyway, the name of the creek is Hemps Creek in LaSalle Parish Louisiana. Supposedly before the Civil War there was a successful gold dredging operation just south of my location in Indian Creek in Rapides Parish. Bigfoot was sighted in both these areas too in the past. I did successfully find flour gold behind the hydro dam at the end of Toledo Bend Lake in a restricted area so we couldn`t go back. The water was down so no flow through the dam. The gold was very concentrated along with black sand in holes worn in the bedrock by the current. Large nuggets can be found (some say) in the Sabine River on top of the bedrock below the city of Logansport if you have the equipment and don`t get caught. Making money is illegal in this state! Keep that in mind.

I dug under a trommel once that had a small pin hole leak towards the end of it. Had lots of jine gold. Ran about 8 buckets full over a sluice ended up with about 3 penney weights of gold. To much work for a small amount!
