One of the many verses that hit my heart was “How can I boast on what I have received?” As a physician, I have nothing to boast about. I was given a passion for how the body works, a need to help and be around people, a love of teaching, and the energy to perform. I was given parents who greatly valued a higher education, I was given an intellect to learn hard things, the perseverance to stick with a task, and common sense to put it all together. I have contributed nothing on my own. Thank you, Jesus.

20 years ago during our street preeaching in my town of Zagreb, Croatia we had some foreigners in the audience... turned out it was President of Romania, Emil Constantinescu. After the preaching he approach us and we had a small talk via his translator. That year he left politics :)

My wife was asked about Jesus being loving. She said to her friend, "He is always loving." Her friend asked her, what about the time he fashioned a whip and drove the money changers from the temple. My wife thought for a moment and responded, "That's Jesus showing tough love."

Having come out of the faith movement I almost lost my faith, but Jesus in His mercy and grace brought me to a true Bible teaching church and healed my doubts and confusion. The Bible in context and the Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth. Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart and lean NOT into your own understanding(feelings) and HE will guard your heart through Christ Jesus. Amen😊🕊

Just found this and putting it on my watch list for the week! Looks like I started it almost a year ago and didn't finish. I wasn't ready. But I've officially left the WoF movement now, and just reread Romans 8, which is pretty blatantly a rebuttal of WoF/prosperity. Looking forward to seeing how Mike looks into it.

I always struggle to know or accept that I am saved. I have a strong desire to please God and I have turned away from all my Idols and I daily walk always thinking of ways to please God and making sure I discern sin and turn away but I always question myself if I am saved. Grew up in a Christian house hold and was always doing the ceremonial acts of Christians until I believe I was saved two years ago, so thankful for that day... now I live in awe of GOD because I am learning his mercy on me. I grew up in a very strange doctrinal church that believes allot of weird things like, wearing jeans, wigs, makeup, earrings is a sin until I was saved, if I am. and started to read the Bible for myself and started to question allot of things, instead of answers I got called a Jehovah witness by my own mom multiple times because allot of things didn't make sense and I wouldn't believe them. allot of this makes no sense but Pray for me you guys, really want to believe I am saved with a 100% assurance.

I have been a Christian for nearly 30 years. I have heard this scripture taught over and over again. I have taught it myself many times. For some reason tonight as I listened it dawned on me: "MORE THAN". Not we are conquerors. Not we are super conquerors. Not we conquer better than anything else similar. In fact I would suggest we are NOT conquerors when we are under the sword. But we are more than. Conquerors is not our vocabulary. Don't compare yourself to a phoenix rising from the ashes. We are sheep considered to be slain. Which is better than being a conqueror. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. Being a conqueror is about self, which we can't do this on our own. Kill me, but you can't stop God loving me or raising me up to glory on the last day. All praise to Him. Thanks for listening to my ramblings.

No sure about loving others more than ourselves. I will say the teaching is to love others LIKE ourselves, not more and God above all else. This is a pretty important distinction.

Fantastic message! I especially loved the ending. We have all we need if we are saved and following the Lord.

When you were talking about people who are overly critical because they are overly critical of themselves, I think that is me. I look at myself and am not sure I am saved. Salvation is a Gift. I think too many people think that they already have it. Since it is a gift, why does everyone think they have received it? I get skeptical of so many people assuming that they are saved. Jesus said that very few people get in through the narrow gate. I think it is a dangerous place to assume we are on that road. There is too much "Don't worry... you are saved." I think we are supposed to work out our salvation with fear and trembling.

How I say Thank you, Mike You're amazing in bringing Romans to live in my heart and mind. I've heard Romans before and understood the love of Christ and still fell short and pulled into self and fear. Enough said friend Bring me back to remembering how I should believe once again.

Here is a(Prosperity Busting Silver Bullet Passage) Bible passage he uses 1st Timothy 6:5-8, "These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, A SHOW OF GODLINESS IS JUST A WAY TO BECOME WEALTHY. Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. SO IF WE HAVE ENOUGH FOOD OR CLOTHING, LET US BE CONTENT." I also like how he mentioned how Prosperity preachers do sort of a "bait n switch" where they present what God promised to the NATION of Israel in the Old Testament as if it were a promise to an individual then or now. This is especially a FALSE idea considering 11 of the 12 disciples were brutally murdered, additionally so was Paul the Apostle, and many of the early church leaders. God didn't bless them with a private jet to fly away from their problems. LOL An additional verse I like to think upon when this topic comes up is when JESUS said, "Don't store up for yourself treasures on earth..... .....but treasures in heaven." Matthew 6:19-20

I've seen my old church pass the plate a second time as a love offering for a specific purpose, but I have never seen the plate go around 3 times for the church...

LOVE THERE IT IS ! be loving to others, Jesus was a servant to others and that is what we should be. Yes he was radicle at times he had to be. Yet he is love, goodness, righteousness and truth. My father was a preacher and he showed love to others when he prayed for them in the streets, while they were drunk or on drugs. God precedent me because I am a child of God and he loves me.

Man, I feel like Romans and 1st John, and the rest of the epistles were specifically written to debunk and pre-disprove heresies! ;) Romans got me out of Hebrew Roots, and now is Biblical evidence against WoF/prosperity G, which I’ve also left. During all these years, it’s the epistles I’ve read least... May I never let them go again.

The fruit of the spirit versus the acts of the flesh in chapter 5 should be a way to differentiate those that are christian apart from those that claim to be christian. Idk, there have been times in my life where I was at my wit's end. Joel Osteen's preaching was so helpful in reminding me that the Lord is with me and in me. I was able to get thru hard times listening to his uplifting words he preached thru Jesus. Him and Joseph Prince. I know you didn't name them but I know ppl who bash them for being too "positive".

It just amazes me the numbers of people who fall for what the prosperity guys sell. The give me money sow a seed and you may get some money to doctrine is so obviously false that it is amazing the numbers that believe it and give money.

Was once asked to teach a lesson on the needs of the persecuted church--- need prayer---for strength to go through it ; to be witnesses; and to hold fast to their fath ( and that God would take away if / when His will)-- afterwards talked to the people who had been there-- only thing they seemed to hear was that God needed to take it away!

I think this is the best sermon I have ever heard.

In vs 8:35-39, (what shall separate us...) Paul is talking about what will stop US from loving God and NOT what will prevent God from loving us. In context, we see that every item Paul mentions are things that discourage some people from loving God. It would be absurd to think that God would stop loving us because of our tribulations. Paul is saying that in view of God's great love for him, evidenced by everything God and Christ have done in v 31-34, etc., that there's nothing that will make Paul stop loving God. "Even though He slay me...." - that's Paul's faithfulness inspired by God's faithfulness. This is the fulfillment of Rom 1:17 "...from faith to faithfulness..."

Hey Pastor Mike, I understand giving to get is just greed and greed is wrong, but what about Luke 6:38 that talks about you giving and being giving to in return? You said that when you give, you have less of what you give, but that's not what the Bible appears to be saying there. It said you give, and you have a good measure giving back to you. Mike, I agree with almost all that you said, I’m not under prosperity teaching. In fact, God rescued me from a church like that. I think you missed the fact that prosperity in the eyes of God is not financial and it is His will for us to prosper. When we go through tribulation it may be the enemy trying to bring us down and there is a place for contending against and resisting the devil in such cases. The way you explained it invited people to just accept whatever life brings rather than contend for their situation. Look forward to comments.

Our salvation is made assured by our obedience. 2 Thess 1:8, Gal 2:20. What do you think happens if someone accepts Christ and then returns to sin? Heb 10:26-31, Gal 2:17-18, 2 Peter 2:20-22 This isn't an issue of backsliding. Peter warns that such a person is WORSE off for having accepted Christ and returned to the bondage that they were freed from. This also isn't for me about the pride of works providing security. It's about faith producing death of self, the predestined security is of Christ. As Paul explains, we are dead, (if we are truly in Him) it is Him living through us. This is the same works of which God "predestined" for us, it's His works empowered through us, because we have put to death the deeds of our flesh. Those who resurrect the old man, and *do not repent* are living in condemnation. They are the ones warned about in Romans 1. Romans 1 is not just about the scoffers of God. The end of the Chapter warns that there are those that _know_ the righteous judgment of God, yet do the opposite and commend others to do so also. This is the natural aspect of believing that you aren't responsible for obeying Christ. Faith without works is a dead faith, because faith without works shows that you haven't died to self, so that Christ is living through you. If Christ is living through you, your desires aren't for the things of this world (James 4) your mouth speaks the things of God (James 3) and your salvation is assured in humility. (James 4:6-10, 2 Co 7:9-11) There is a fundamental problem with believing someone cannot lose what Christ bought for them. It makes the warnings of self deception throughout the New Testament without affect. Why does Paul tell us in Ephesians 5, to not partake of the works of unrighteousness if our salvation is secure and cannot be lost? Those that don't obey face the wrath of God. Do you have a study on why Jesus and the disciples warn us so much against falling away to false teachers? [2Co 11:2-4 NKJV] 2 For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present [you as] a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or [if] you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted--you may well put up with it! Was Paul not talking to people that were saved? [Heb 4:1 NKJV] 1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. Was the author of Hebrews not talking to believers? I've seen some who defend eternal security state that. But Paul explains this is an impossibility. [1Co 1:18 NKJV] 18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. Unbelievers wouldn't be listening to or reading the epistle of Hebrews. There is a seriousness to the cost of being saved, as Jesus Himself states. [Luk 14:25-35 NKJV] 25 Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them, 26 "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 27 "And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 28 "For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has [enough] to finish [it]-- 29 "lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see [it] begin to mock him, 30 "saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.' 31 "Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 "Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. 33 "So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple. 34 "Salt [is] good; but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? 35 "It is neither fit for the land nor for the dunghill, [but] men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" Are we the type that lays a foundation on sand, not listening to Christ? Or did you do as is warned about in Heb 10:26-31, and 2 Peter 2:20-22? Did the believer confess His sins, go to the cross with Christ, then return to His sins, rebuilding what was supposed to be destroyed. (Gal 2:17-18) Paul says very clearly if we rebuild what was destroyed, Jesus will not minister over us. Hebrews warns that if _after_ we come to the knowledge of truth, (in other words this person *was* saved) we willfully sin, we face the wrath of God. ------------------------------------------------- Now all that being said, I'm not defending sinless perfection or Lordship Salvation as it's called. But there's no doubt from Scripture that we are _being_ saved. Salvation is eternal life, and not a single human alive or dead has received that and won't until judgment day. Revelations also has a warning of who will and who will not receive eternal life. [Rev 21:7-8 NKJV] 7 "He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." This btw is exactly what Paul _repeatedly_ warns of in Romans, Galatians, Colossians, Ephesians, Thessalonians, Titus, Timothy and Corinthians. Those who are unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God and will face the wrath of God. Again, given the context of scripture and how the unsaved view it, He's talking to believers. It's why He says He can be disqualified. He's not talking about being disqualified as a teacher _in context_.

I don't know you. And I haven't even finished watching this. But I wanted you to know. I mean you probably already know this but the people following Benny Hinn will call you a "religious spirit". I think that calling people who have different beliefs a certain spirit and then constantly preaching that that spirit is bad is cultic manipulation. Not everyone going into "Benny Hinn" type ministires start there. Most gradually get there through other ministries. It ruined my faith. Made me feel not saved because I was not healed. I don't go to any church. I don't know why I'm commenting. I just am. Thank You

I imagine you're pretty busy, and I so appreciate you youtubing (is that a word?) this. if you can, at about 34:00 minute mark where you talk about forgiveness which only God can give me, as He is my only judge, and so I don't need to judge/forgive myself, i'm confused about why I would need to forgive others, because that too would require judging? Or is that because God forgave me, so I am to not judge but simply forgive others? thanks, whether you are able to answer this or not : )

Imagine your mother throws you a birthday party baking you your favorite cake, inviting all your friends, decorating and getting a DJ and the whole nine yards - then the night before you do a horrible thing and you feel like a wretch (because you are) - and you take your dad aside before the party and say "I did a terrible thing; I'm not worthy to have a party - I'm just going to go away and be alone" then your dad might say "you'll do no such thing - here's what you are going to do: you're going to go to the party your mother planned for you, eat the cake she made for you and enjoy the music she prepared for you - you don't feel worthy? well you're not - but it's not always about you; is it? we'll deal with what you did later but your mother worked hard for the joy of seeing you happy - who do you think you are to take that from her?" you see, when God calls us righteous we don't have the right to say "but I don't feel righteous" - after everything that Jesus did to save you you don't have the right to deny him - He offers forgiveness of sin, adoption, justification, glorification, the Holy Spirit and you say "I don't feel worthy" - IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU! - after all He did, laying down His very life WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE to turn Him down? confess and trust in Jesus you've no right to do otherwise

"Name it and claim it" is a derogatory expression used by opponents of the Word of Faith movement. I've been WoF for 37 years and I've never heard the expression once from anybody other than the critics. The WoF is the message that we can believe God for everything that He has provided for us in His Word by confessing, believing, and acting on what He said. I like most of what Mike says but I have to take issue with his characterization of the name it and claim it crowd. I don't know who he's talking about.
