I always try to be SUPER careful with my paperbacks. Even when reading them I don't open the book wide,because I don't want to crack the spin. Paperbacks are the best,but I'm starting to slowly open up more to Hardbacks.

Instead, I just buy secondhand paperbacks from charity shops and secondhand stores... That way, I wouldn't have to worry about damaging it! 😜

I love paperbacks, especially the floppy ones, but this is definitely a concern. Just finished Far from the Tree and it was amazing!

But for those of us who can only afford tatty paperbacks off the Amazon Market place when they're like, a penny, the pages are yellow and the corners are bent and the spine's broken anyway so you just have to suck it up and live with it XD

I identify with this so strongly right now because 7 years ago I bought a copy of Bleak House by Charles Dickens to read for the first time (the B&N classics paperback) and I am just now reading it for the first time (I know some of my books stay on my shelves forever before I get to them lol). So I have barely touched it in 7 years and yet somehow it has dirt and pencil smudges and even a spot that looks like I accidentally dropped a cherry candy on the spine at some point...I HAVE NO IDEA HOW ANY OF THIS HAPPENED😲😭. On the bright side, I now want to get the gorgeous Penguin Clothbound Classics edition that will stay on my shelf looking pretty😆❤️📘

Even though I prefer hardcovers, I have Nothing against paperbacks. My paperback copy of Kingdom Keepers: Disney after Dark was such in disarray in middle school because I was always rereading it and carrying it folded in my pockets. Even my first copy of The Lightning Thief has its battle wounds. Folds/creases/highlights/notations in your Own copy =Book love.
