I have been researching this mounting and waxing subject. Great video and from what I am reading, the Renaissance Wax seems to work a little better than the beeswax based products such as Dorlands. It dries quickly and is easy to apply. I guess the smell is the only issue. Thank you so much for showing this! Best wishes with your art. :)

Awesome tutorial! Love your videos they are very inspiring! I have also seen folks in my art guild use box style wood instead of a flat piece and they cut the paper to fold over the four edges and used wax to finish. As well

Krylon makes a matte finish acrylic spray paint that I use if I absolutely have to protect a watercolor. I also use it to protect my graphite and charcoal works.

,,Mister superclear,, from Japan is similar price but much,much better if you like matte sealing in spray..I use it on all sorts of crafts and arts,pastels,watercolour,charcoal and on sculptures,dolls when repainting those 😉 Highly doubt you ever would go back to krylon once you try ,,mister superclear,,

Thank you for the demo of both ways! I love the picture with mat framing look, and it keeps the painting available to use elsewhere. but dislike how glass causes too much reflection. The sim-licit of the wax protected mounting keeps the simplicity and focus on just the painting.

We used hair spray to protect charcoal and pencil at art college, although my Mum didn’t approve😃

We don't have wax polish available in my country (at least I couldn't find any) but I have tried using varnishes for watercolor. First a matte one(Talens gouache varnish), then a glossy one(Lascaux uv protect 1). They don't work by themselves but work great when I use them together like this.

Did the wax make the painting shiny? I used the popular Dorland’s Wax Medium; but after buffing It turned out very shiny. Which I kind of liked but did not expect

Would gamblins cold wax medium work the same as that stuff your using? Don't know where to buy that stuff, but i do have a jar of the cold wax medium on hand
