The black toad and the devils dozen are good Cornish witchcraft books. I came across these while visiting salem and they've been very helpful

The shoe wards made it to colonial Australia too. They've been found in walls and inside chimneys, sometimes alongside children's toys.

I also use hag stones as a protective necklace! Not traditional but I love having them on me when I leave the house

This was an excellent video! I love that you honor and teach the history while providing a lot of guidance and advice for people to adapt these practices to modernity. No need to use urine or animal parts lol. Really great work.

I use witch bottles buried in a plant pot of soil by my front door & hagstone strings at my backdoor as wards. I also have a version of witches balls hanging at both doors.....I found two beautiful green glass bottles shaped like bunches of grapes in a thrift store. I filled them with protective herbs, broken mirror etc. Each room in my home has a rowen berry charm by the windows. In the cupboard where I keep my witch items I added crushed selenite to white paint & painted the walls & ceiling with it....great way to keep negativity away. I’ve never thought to use old shoes in this way so thank you for this new idea

Ya know, I was thinking the other day I may be able to use an egg in one of my spells at some point if it was relevant! (we raise free range hens and have an abundance of eggs) so it's funny you would mention that. But maybe even funnier than that, my 3 year old son (who I do not yet speak to about my magickal practice) He told me "you should have a crystal ball mom"..... ?! Where did that come from?! I have always wanted one.. So I have now started using your videos and a fresh book (of shadows) to create a new instructional book of shadows for him, should he ever show interest in the craft when he's older. Thank you so much for your videos they are so relaxing, your energy is just fabulous, and your knowledge is seemingly endless. You are like the perfect witch to create beginner witch videos. xoxo

Great video! I knew that the often found shoes in old buildings but didn't understand the purpose, so that info was new to me. Lots here that is very easy to utilize and also to consider when warding your space. I hope you do more videos on this topic.

Really enjoyed this video! I wonder if the shoe charm could also work as sympathetic magic - giving spirits "the boot"/ kicking them out? Love to see more like this :)

Words were very important in a lot of folk magick, so I can definitely imagine wordplay played a part in certain spells. I also wonder if it could symbolise your power over the evil spirits, as by being attracted to the shoe you would have your "foot" over them.

I have a few questions... If i made a witch bottle could o fill the jar with the traditional ingredients such as sharp object, salt and taglock? Then seal with clay and just keep it in my room?
