I was raised Catholic. Married young, divorced young. In midlife (early 40's) went non-denominational. I saw most of the questions other Christian denominations have. This video touches on John 6:53 Jesus says "Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His Blood you shall not have life within you" Then at the last supper. Jesus says "This is My Body" - "This is the cup of my blood" - "Do this (the Eucharist) in memory of Me". Then there Paul's teachings about it in 1rst Corinthians chapter 11 Where he speaks about "Sick and infirm and some died" receiving in an unworthy manner, thus bringing condemnation upon themselves for "not discerning the Lord's body". Then there is Hebrews 5 :4 "Speaking on the Priesthood of Aaron. "No man takes this authority unto himself but only as called by God as Aaron was" Then on Confession Read John 20 verses 19 Through 23. There is much more. If you're interested go to the St Helena Catholic Church website on KZfaq. Search for Fr Mark Beard videos. He passed away August 2nd due to a car accident. But his homilies are very educational. On Purgatory read Matthew 18 verses 19 Through 35. But pay particular attention to verse 34 and 35 and know that it is Jesus saying it. As well there is 1 Peter 3 : 18, 19, + 20. And 1 Peter 4 : 6 But again really try and process John 6 : 53. Jesus words not mine We know every word of God is true. Jesus is not a liar. The Bible says "There is One Lord, One Faith, and One Baptism". Then the is the words of Jesus to Peter. "Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church," (note church being singular) But do check out Fr Mark Beard's Homilies on St Helena Catholic Church website. He dives into why we do what we do. Also if your interested another priest you might want to look into is Fr Chad Ripperger. He is as guest on a podcast hosted by 'Chris Stefanick'.. Fr Ripperger is an Exorcist Priest. But look up podcast titled Q + A with an Exorcist Part 1 (There are parts 2,3, 4, 5, and 6 as well.) Fr Chad relates his communications with the demons in those who are possessed. I know it can be a scary topic. But I learned so much from his talks. As a life long (for the most part,) Catholic, Listening to what he learned from the demons in those exorcisms helped me to understand Mary's place in our spiritual lives The demons hate her,. But truly informative stuff. Also Fr Ripperger has a three Audio Series talk on "Generational Spirits" Also on KZfaq. The Bible tells us "He will strike at your heel. And you will strike at his head". The devil's had full knowledge and understanding of all that would come to be. In Short they knew that one day Jesus would become a man, and Mary would become His mother. But the demons refused to bend a knee to Jesus and Mary Both. Thus they said we will rule in hell rather than serve in heaven. Why? Simply because they were more glorious than any human. They are more powerful than any human. But God's plan was known to them. We have the luxury of having been born ignorant of the bigger picture. The fallen angels had one chance because they had full knowledge of things. It would not be fair to anyone involved. Those who are joining deserve to have fellow catechumens in class. Having the instructors diverted from the purpose of guiding catechumens would not be fair. I too attend the Tridentine Mass, but my journey in life took me from being a "Heathen" with no direction through Protestantism and ultimately to the Catholic Church. Most memorable part of my journey through the "Brethren In Christ" and the Espiscopal organizations. I am very thankful for this journey as well as being critical of it. My journey is similar but a very lite version of Father Donald Callaway's journey. I will always be a catechumen as I learn more about my faith. Coming from Protestantism our Immaculate Mother was an issue at first but over time seemed to diminished. It was once said, "God gave His Son his Divinity and His Mother gave Him His humanity". Jesus is the morning star, Revelation 22:16. The ending of the Exsultet: "May this flame be found still burning by the Morning Star: the one Morning Star who never sets, Christ your Son, who, coming back from death's domain, has shed his peaceful light on humanity, and lives and reigns for ever and ever." @@GospelSimplicity I don't think the calling for you is conversion. There's already enough people on the internet trying to *force* their denomination down your throat. But since you're soft-spoken and have diplomatic skills, you would be good at *inter-faith* dialogue : bringing some catholic qualities to the protestant world, and some protestant objections to the catholic world (for instance, I think polls have shown that already more than half of Catholics think the Eucharist is actually symbolic, ..) They just know for a fact, that they pastors interpretation of scripture is spot on, and they are simply sharing this factual knowledge . Sometimes Christians seem to worship their pastors. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Me too, the lockdowns gave the time to finally focus on my faith and why I believe what I believe. It was a weird journey, I went from a casual Catholic(I held many progressive Christian views and btw, during this time, I wasn't even sure if there was a God) to Agnostic to progressive Christian(I was a progressive Catholic when I was a casual Catholic but during this time, I also no longer identified as a Catholic) to Evangelical Protestant Christian and then finally back to Catholicism and this time, I accept all the moral teachings of the Church including those VERY controversial ones such as abortion (btw, I was always against abortions after 20 weeks), artificial birth control, etc.. I benefited ALOT from this journey. Now I am well equipped to defend my beliefs, everything from God's existence to very important Catholic doctrines such as purgatory, Mariology, etc.. I also now understand the logic behind the Church's SEEM LIKE stupid teachings but actually very rational teachings such as artificial broth control, homosexual acts, etc.. Now I'm very aware of all popular arguments against Christianity among the average non Christians and answers to those arguments as well as answers(at least a good answer) to those REAL objections to Christianity

Amen! I truly believe that God is bringing more and more Protestants back to The Catholic Church. I spent 36 years as a Protestant Christian but the last ten was spent searching for truth. I went down many paths before unexpectedly landing in The Catholic Church! I was confirmed in to the church at the Easter vigil in 2018. I continue to learn more every day, There is so much to learn! But yes, we need the enthusiasm of The Protestants to shake us up and remind us what we have.

there i was recently thinking (i grew up Protestant) is Mary the Mother of God just enjoying her mansion as any heavenly citizen ....maybe her Son visits her once a week as a good son does????? And do I really think Fatima just somehow didn't happen??? I was reading an old book with a firsthand account of Padre Pio. I pray the Rosary daily until Covid ends and then I will talk to a priest. @@chu88y1 The Rosary was popularised By St Dominic in 1206 and is different to the Modern Rosary now recited with its pious additions. Did Blessed Mary appear at Fatima and show small children a vision of Hell and scare the living daylights out of them.? Definitely not Blessed Mary of the Gospels. Test all apparitions by the teaching of Christ and see if they come from God and act on your enlightened conscience.

@peter J I had similar thoughts about Fatima as a new Catholic convert. It just felt so harsh to me! I love Julian of Norwich and her ‘all will be well’ kind of theology 😜 so visions of hell for and brimstone didn’t sit well with me. Then I was directed to the Vatican website and read an extraordinary writing by the former Pope Benedict. His understanding of Fatima completely resonated with me and I felt at peace once again. Sometimes we take things literally ( including scripture) when in fact there is a much deeper meaning behind it.

Where I live here in Sweden they put pride flags on our churches and talk about ”equality” in church. Which has nothing to do with Christ.

Exodus 20:4-6, they still make and bow to idols, statues and body parts. i know, i did it! Exodus 20:8-11, they pretend the 1st day is the LORD's day, while Scripture is crystal clear, the 7th day Sabbath is His, this can't change. (the supposed 'change' of the Sabbath was even prophesied in Scripture - and this 'church' even *ADMITS TO DOING IT!* ) there is much, much more - praying to humans (dead, like 'Hail Mary'), pretending to literally eat Jesus, pretending another sinner can forgive your 3rd party sins, while Bible shows us that God Alone does that. where does one go if they aren't saved? I have the same struggles.

What pushed me away from catholicism was that Marian worship. Yes, I know technically catholicism does not teach the worship of Mary. But somehow, every one of the women I met all they do is tell me and each other to pray to Mary and ask her to do XYZ and that if I would put her statue in a certain place in my house and pray the Rosary in front of it then she'd do this or that for me. So much constantly about asking Mary to do specific things. Where to put the statues or paintings for her to do more for me. It was Never Jesus. Then the infant of Prague. Oh man. I can't tell you how many told me in needed to have a small infant of Prague in my home and to care well for it, changing it's robes and offering special prayer , and that if I pray *specifically* to the infant then he would do XYZ. Not that Jesus would, that * the infant of Prague* would. If I don't buy the blessed beeswax candles we will die when the prophecy of padre Pio comes true. So, in my study I really did change my mind, and could no longer adhere to I western protestantism. I accept perpetual virginity and real presence of Christ in to he eucharist, baptismal regeneration . It's just so bizarre to me that in all instances people are told to burry saint statues in the yard to sell their house, or dress and care for and offer personal sacrifice to the infant of Prague statue to get him to do things . Theres more, but that's the most impressed on my mind. We became confessional Lutheran.

The Catholic view of Mary and the communion of the Saints is a richer view of Christianity than anything found in Protestantism. Our loving Father chooses to use the Saints as intercessors for us on earth. It’s the familial view of Christianity. The Church Triumphant is not separated completely from the Church Militant. We are still one body.

@@louisacapell What you are describing is a type of superstition that some may have adopted and should not be doing. As a revert to the Catholic faith I can assure you that these things are not something the Church teaches. Go to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and you will not find any of this in there. Mary is there to lead us to Jesus not to steer us away from Him. Have courage and find the answers your self. Do not be afraid to ask any questions, but also do not be afraid to get the correct answers and also make sure your questions are directed to orthodox sources. Put principles and Truth above personalities. Peace and Prayers to you in your journey.

@@louisacapell I can respect what you've shared here and I offer no judgement on your religious affiliation. But I will say that those ladies you mentioned sound a bit superstitious. Of course Catholics do believe that Mary and the saints can intercede for us but the stuff about putting images or statues in certain places and connecting that to certain outcomes seems to neglect important elements of faith and a basic understanding of grace. If I met a bunch of people like that I'd probably distance myself from them a bit. It seems like they were putting more emphasis on human effort and spiritual clutter than in simply praying in faith. Tad , it should not be that hard in understanding Blessed Mary ,. The reason it is so hard that 2 dogmas about Mary are not found in Scripture. So they should not be dogmas , just stick to the Mary of the Gospels and not spend 1900 years like the Bishops to finally come up with a dogma of the Assumption.

@@charles2241 yeah, he was declared heretic by the church and he was supposed to be burned alive for being heretic. But he managed to escape through the help of someone who was close to the emperor. When he was about to die, he asked his closest friends to "pray for him". Funny how he taught his followers that there's only one mediator between man and God but he managed to ask his friends to "pray for him" making them intercessors or mediators between God and him.

As I've explained it, you should be thinking the other way around, after all, aren't people in Heaven much more capable since they have God's real favor, of getting your request granted, as opposed to somebody down here whom might be sinner central? I will say though, not completely understanding the Protestant mind, that I think I can see it from a possible angle of theirs, and that is the stranger angle. IOW, all those long dead saints, never knew you, etc. whereas people down here might pray for you (IOW, strangers (saints) wouldn't pray for you). And that makes sense to me, but the problem is as I described earlier, they draw God's favor for sure, whereas you cannot be so sure about your friends. IOW, they won the battle and are up there in Heaven, so wouldn't they have much more sway in almost all cases than somebody still down here? I realize it's not a perfect argument, but as they are so wholly into God up there, how could they turn you down? If they are with God, they will do it, but it doesn't mean God will automatically grant it of course. Sheesh, probably half of our friends would mean to pray for you, and totally forget about it, especially if it were a new thing for them to pray for you. I think also, some people concerning that issue, think too much upon the earthly scene, and just think the dead cannot help you. And yet, there's no people more alive, and more into God, than those up there. Now I'm not sure I would pray to either of my parents, no matter how well they lived, because I really don't know if they made it up there or not, but the recognized saints, there's no doubts. I'm sure the saints often take us up as sort of their children, especially considering so many of them were religious and never had children.

If I could like this 1000 times I would. This is the heart of it; zeal for Christ and His Church, not high-fiving or grandstanding for a political cause.

Beautiful words and synopsis. Both this comment and the video. Brother every thing you going thru is normal and good too but While it can also feel like a crises too sometimes. I was a pastor for decades and eventually became catholic and Orthodox. But then eventually left both. so I spent my lifetime struggling with it all too. It’s very difficult living in these times while also good because we have access and knowledge to everything now. It’s good that we question our faith and beliefs and logical thinking and reasoning and not just blindly accept everything. Plus also the sincerity to find “the truth” no matter where it leads us. I doubt he will be convinced, it takes a long time for protestants to let go of their cultural traditions and biases, & even then, their whole family & community will shun them, attack them, etc. It's a big leap that many take 10years to make, Austin in 1 year with a young new wife would never make that sacrifice. Like Jesus said, “Take up your cross and follow Me” - that' not easy for most of us. He would probably follow orthodoxy if ever, at least his community won't shun or ostracize him. Still better bec it has apostolic tradition though they're not united with the Body of Christ.

I’m a cradle catholic but never really learned anything about the catholic faith. I actually left the narrow road for quite some time and it wasn’t until a few years ago I came back to the Lord. I started reading Scripture and listening to sermons and homilies from various sources but it wasn’t until covid came that allowed me to delve deeper into Catholicism. I’m currently in a Bible study at a baptist/non denominational church and the guys in my group have misconceptions about Catholicism and I can tell the strong dislike they have toward it. Would I love to convert them? Yes. But I tell myself not to worry about that but to just try to clear up any misconceptions they may have and lead them to sources that will help them understand better over time. If they convert, great. If they don’t, that’s fine too because I know they love the Lord and do the best they can. If Austin converts, great. If he doesn’t, that’s fine too. He’s still a genuine person who loves the Lord

Christ never promised us that living the Christian life would be easy, but He did promise that it would be glorious. While I appreciate what Just A Thomist is saying I cannot agree with it insofar as placing limits on God's Grace. None of us have the power to do that. Whosoever will may come and salvation is not limited to one particular church, or to any church for that matter. Right. I imagine putting yourself out there for everyone to see and follow your journey has to come with extra baggage and pressure. Regardless of where we all are, we should strive to help Austin not by pulling him every which way, but provide him with answers and perspective to the questions he is asking, as well as offer him more though provoking questions to discern, and pray that the Holy Spirit guides him to all truth.

I totally understand you!!! As an ex evangelical pastor that was ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS to change and get over. But, It finally clicked and made sense one day. But was still hard to overcome for a long time. I felt I was doing something wrong venerating her for years. It takes time. What also did it for me was learning and knowing that the early church did this and I was tired of the corrupted man made evangelicalisms and constant changes and “non-divineness” I kept seeing more and more from them. I wanted so bad to follow what Paul and Peter followed and to know, serve and worship and experience God the way they did. I don’t think we are the only “real Christians”mentality. But we DO have the Fullness and complete picture and divine experience.

Only one....the 1992 catechism had JPII signing off on ALLOWING the death penalty. But just a few yers ago, Frank the crank made the catechism obsolete by DISALLOWING it for any reason whatsoever. So no Catholic can EVER know what the RCC teaches on the DP. Thus, the day when Catholics can agree on everything, THAT WILL BE THE DAY you have the right to criticize Protestant disagreements.

@@eucharistangel4662 Catholicism has many expressions of one faith. There are different “splinter groups,” yes. But they all should be under the Catholic umbrella of affirming the same doctrines. They may be more or less charismatic, for example… but they all will utilize the liturgy and worship in Mass. They will believe and affirm the same things about the sacraments and their nature. Things like that. It isn’t like my Baptist growing up experience, going to church with people who believed vastly different things about end times.

There have been heretics, corruption and many persecutions of the church yet she had survived for 2,000 plus years. The church is unity, the individual people are the ones who create problems.
