To be fair to the protesters I think SHY did a gravelly mistake by saying that the Palestinians have to suffer in silence and also the interview where he said that the AlAqsa should be shared. That provoked these protestors to do and say what they did. I think SHY should have done a panel discussion with the community to clear up his position and allow for fair and open discussion with his critics instead of letting it burst like this in a public speech. All Zaytuna’s panels and lectures even his discussion he held with Chris Hedges are held in a very controlled environment. The people of Zaytuna should really reconsider the over protection of the Sheikh and allow more elaborate and honest non patriarchal forums to be held within the community.. that if they really want to be true leaders of the Muslim rhetoric and community.

As a muslim and a black man i vehemently fusagree eith Sheik Hamza saying to suffer in silence . Thus enemies of Islam want us to remain silent and accept the fate of our brothers and sisters in Islam . I see many people defending him but we also need to understand that just because somene is a resoected scholar does not mean he is always right . This is only his opinion as others would have difference of opinion . The oppressor would love to sikence the oppressed and as muslims we have been given permission by Allah to fight thise who oppose us . I believe the scholars at this point should step up and kead the ummah in the ways of protecting ourselves ,fighting and responding to the enemies if Islam and mankind . Now is the time or else . I love and respect sheikh Hamza but if I could just deliver one message it’s this: it’s not what you said that’s the problem, it’s what you didn’t say. There’s no reason to hate on this sheikh. I respect his opinion, but if i saw him face to face I would explain my perspective to him The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever among you sees evil, let him change it with his hand. If he cannot do so, then with his tongue. If he cannot do so, then with his heart, which is the weakest level of faith.”

Uttered spontaneously, the phrase "We sometimes have to suffer in silence" can be prone to misunderstanding when taken out of context. It appears there's a determination to misconstrue Sheikh Hamza Yusuf's words, yet he transcends being a mere punching bag. What he likely intended was to convey the profound magnitude of our helplessness despite our earnest desire to assist. In the context of the ongoing genocide, the notion that sometimes we must endure suffering in silence reflects the shared experience of individuals grappling with anger and sorrow. It signifies a collective wish to contribute more than our current efforts permit, but alas, we find ourselves constrained. لا حول ولا قوة الا بالله و حسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل

That is not. First all he was being interviewed by a non Muslims journalist to a non Muslim, specifically an American audience. Americans barely know the reality of the situation and understand resolution through means of arbitration. See the American civil rights movement for example. So Shaykh Hamza was discussing it from that vantage point. And as an actually American he knows the audience.
