Hong Kong commuters struggled through traffic chaos on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, as protesters prevented MTR trains from leaving stations and disrupted other modes of transport during the morning rush hour.
The protesters were angered by Beijing's response to the Hong Kong extradition bill crisis.
On Monday, Chinese mainland officials voiced support for Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam and her government.

This is getting so out of hand. I hope Hong Kong people don’t support these type of protest. The more support they get they more they think what they doing is justifies. Violent and aggressiveness will never be the answer. Do they think Hong Kong government is that strong enough against China? The things that they’re doing it’s just pushing Hong Kong into China even more. When things starts escalate even more, China will take things into their own hands. I want democracy for hk but not in the way that they are trying to prove it. Harassing others and disrupting the public? You want to protest? Fine? Don’t lie, be aggressive and violent. I watched a video of a elderly man got angry at the protester and he hit the sign that one women was holding. He hit the sign. The women started screaming saying the guy was hitting her. a crowd of protester start harassing this man non stop and calling him names and trying to provoke him to hit them. I was going to cry. This old man so old and alone and the crowd just would not stop harassing him. It was a disgraced and disgusting to watch how hk people have turned out like that. They were also shouting that he’s communist supporter and from China. He was speaking English.

Android One Majority of Hong Kong supports the protest. Most Hong Kongers see themselves as Hong Kongers rather than Chinese according to several independent surveys. Regarding private information, that sounds like something China would do, rather than what Hong Kong would do (Hong Kong’s Government is led by China anyway). The people of Hong Kong have lost so much hope and are so fed up with Chinese intervention on their soil despite 2047 being so far away, and have resorted to violent methods in order to get what they want. Their much more peaceful and behaved Umbrella Movement last 2014 showed failed results and as such have fallen back on the path to civil dissent in their desire to maintain their freedoms. Hong Kongers have lost faith in both their Chief Executive (Carrie Lam is widely unpopular) and their police force (due to police brutality and their double standards). This is why police officers and the main government that is pro-China are being targeted by few of the protesters.

If such laws rules and regulations are non existent then I can only say the city administrators should be replaced immediately. I also found some of the passengers reactions laughable. "HOPE THEY GET WHAT THEY WANT". I want to add they deserved what they got.

I feel like this is quickly getting out of control. I support the protesters (or let’s say the ideal of the protesters) but they shouldn’t be holding up the train during rush hour for an hour! HK was crowded enough when running well when I visited a few days ago. There were many other peaceful examples of protesting (Lennon walls, banners) but all this is doing is dividing the country. Unless of course not all these protests are actual protesters and rather mainland or government lackeys simply acting to divide the country and make it implode and eventually decide this isn’t worth it (either with or without force) and give in to central control. And I guess you could say ‘well shouldn’t they? Lol there’s no point in fighting, we all know what’s inevitable’ but just take a look at Vox’s video ‘How China is erasing its border with Hong Kong’. Within it a government official from LegCo (I know) says that ‘for the record, we will not go without a fight’. And personally for me, I wouldn’t feel like just ‘giving up’ and rolling over when I’m told that the ideals of free democracy, economies and *media* especially are slowly but surely being taken away from me. They’re not saying they want to return to the Uk either, (besides, the UK is too afraid to intervene as they try to better sino-uk relations anyways with all of brexit and this new gov chaos-I’m British, first generation Chinese) all they want is to maintain these ideals. They’ve been away from China for almost two centuries, and the centuries prior to that Hk was nothing more than some rocky islands inhabitated by few people. Hong Kong is more Western than it is Chinese, but then again, it’s a bit of both. It can’t just be put into the category of either Chinese or British. I only hope that the beautiful city I visited isn’t destroyed, by either side, when I return.

These protesters are just too much. They should not disrupt the transportation schedule as a lot of ppl need to carry on with their daily lives unlike them being funded daily without having to earn their daily bread. The rest of the innocent ppl should not be supporting them anymore as their demand should have reached the Hkg Govt and Central Govt by now!

Really heart break to see this. These young people claim this is their Hong Kong and then they are like: begin to violently destroy their own home, while other brothers/sisters are trying their best to work hard and contribute to the prosperity of the family. You feel wordless and feeble when dealing this with family members. You can beat all intruders, but you can do nothing to ease family members if they've have a wrong set mind.

These young HK protestors abruptly disrupted the normal operation of MTR service but still blamed the others the responsibility. They deserve no forgiveness nor trust on this matter. On the one side, they seeked what they called "universal suffrage" and "human rights" from the government but ironically, they were acting exactly what they detested the mainland Chinese are doing. These malicious and malevolent individuals were seditiously by Jimmy Lai, who enjoyed the best foods and highest~quality services. HK must restore the stability and prosperity. They should be kicked out from HK, this such a great and safe city.

The people of Hong Kong still hold rights granted to them in the : “ English Bill of Rights of 1689 ? “ English Bill of Rights 1689 that are still in effect are: (1) That the pretended power of suspending the laws or the execution of laws by regal authority without consent of Parliament is illegal; (2) That the pretended power of dispensing with laws or the execution of laws by regal authority, as it hath been assumed and exercised of late, is illegal; (3) That the commission for erecting the late Court of Commissioners for Ecclesiastical Causes, and all other commissions and courts of like nature, are illegal and pernicious; (4) That levying money for or to the use of the Crown by pretence of prerogative, without grant of Parliament, for longer time, or in other manner than the same is or shall be granted, is illegal; (5) That it is the right of the subjects to petition the king, and all commitments and prosecutions for such petitioning are illegal; (6) That the raising or keeping a standing army within the kingdom in time of peace, unless it be with consent of Parliament, is against law; (7) That the subjects which are Protestants may have arms for their defence suitable to their conditions and as allowed by law; (8) That election of members of Parliament ought to be free; (9) That the freedom of speech and debates or proceedings in Parliament ought not to be impeached or questioned in any court or place out of Parliament; (10) That excessive bail ought not to be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted; (11) That jurors ought to be duly impanelled and returned, and jurors which pass upon men in trials for high treason ought to be freeholders; (12) That all grants and promises of fines and forfeitures of particular persons before conviction are illegal and void; (13) And that for redress of all grievances, and for the amending, strengthening and preserving of the laws, Parliaments ought to be held frequently. (14) And they do claim, demand and insist upon all and singular the premises as their undoubted rights and liberties, and that no declarations, judgments, doings or proceedings to the prejudice of the people in any of the said premises ought in any wise to be drawn hereafter into consequence or example; to which demand of their rights they are particularly encouraged by the declaration of his Highness the prince of Orange as being the only means for obtaining a full redress and remedy therein. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- From Wikipedia English Bill of Rights 1689 Legal status The Bill of Rights remains in statute and continues to be cited in legal proceedings in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms, particularly Article 9 on parliamentary freedom of speech.] Following the Perth Agreement in 2011, legislation amending the Bill of Rights and the Act of Settlement 1701 came into effect across the Commonwealth realms on 26 March 2015 which changed the laws of succession to the British throne. Part of the Bill of Rights remains in statute in the Republic of Ireland. Modern recognition Two special designs of commemorative two pound coins were issued in the United Kingdom in 1989 to celebrate the tercentenary of the Glorious Revolution. One referred to the Bill of Rights and the other to the Claim of Right. Both depict the Royal Cypher of William and Mary and the mace of the House of Commons, one also shows a representation of the St Edward's Crown and the other the Crown of Scotland. In May 2011, the Bill of Rights was inscribed in UNESCO's UK Memory of the World Register recognizing that: All the main principles of the Bill of Rights are still in force today, and the Bill of Rights continues to be cited in legal cases in the UK and in Commonwealth countries. It has a primary place in a wider national historical narrative of documents which established the rights of Parliament and set out universal civil liberties, starting with Magna Carta in 1215. It also has international significance, as it was a model for the US Bill of Rights 1789, and its influence can be seen in other documents which establish rights of human beings, such as the Declaration of the Rights of Man, the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights.[28] As part of the Parliament in the Making programme, the Bill of Rights was on display at the Houses of Parliament in February 2015 and at the British Library from March to September 2015
