Protesters clash with riot cops in Paris as France’s far-right on brink of power after election win

FRANCE'S far-right party could be on the brink of power after winning the first round of a snap parliamentary election.
Hundreds of left-wing protesters flooded the streets and clashed with cops in Paris as they set off fireworks and flares.
Incumbent president Emmanuel Macron's party and their allies have been left dragging behind in the polls as Marine Le Pen's National Rally scooped the first round of legislative elections on Sunday.
Le Pen crowed that Macron's alliance was "almost wiped out" during the first of two rounds.
Her party reached 33 per cent of the vote, while the left-wing New Popular Front came in second with 28 per cent.
Macron's centrist bloc trailed behind with just 20 per cent, the interior ministry said.
France's incumbent Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said the far right sit at the "gates of power".
He then called on voters to mobilise against them in the second round of voting on July 7.
The National Rally is aiming for an absolute majority - but the next round could lead to a hung parliament.

Why do Americans, USA owned media and Tories call everything lefty as an insult, that's only promoted to the world by the USA? Only the USA has a TV series for child trans. I think the media gets people to blame the left for what the USA and Tories cause, so Tories can keep our economy closely linked with New York banks, encouraging a society of greed, debt and war, and also a feudal system, where you have to feel like one of the upper classes, so if you haven't inherited a home, you have to take out a life long mortgage. Then people get all confused why when they vote for those who say they're against woke, what they dislike gets worse, as they don't look at reality to see that those politicians say things, knowing most people won't bother to look at reality. ONE of the things I don't like about the French is their position on democracy. It's the best thing in the world...until the people don't agree with you, then it's on to the streets with petrol we go. I have to accept a coming Labour government, as that's what the people want (unbelievably!), but accept it I will, and won't even raise an eyebrow...because that's democracy. You change peoples' views by explaining what would be best, not by riot and violence.
