Proton Satria Neo 1.6 CPS, 2010 | Fan Car | Genting Hill Climb | Nice To Drive | YS Khong Driving

It's been quite a while since I drove a Satria Neo, and since Vincent C, one of our viewers and fans invited me to have a go with his, it was too good to pass up, and so here we were at our favorite mountain road.
The car has a stock engine that has never been opened up, and a standard manual 5-speed gearbox. It has a set of coil overs, and 16-inch wheels, with standard brakes, but fitted with an after-market set of pads.
Prior to the drive, we sent it to our favorite tire shop in P Jaya for a wheel alignment to the specs I recommended, and also added a couple of PSI to the standard pressure.
It was a nice and cool morning and the road was generally dry - for the rest of the story, just watch the video, and see for yourself.

Yes, the handling was so good, the car was literally glued tp the road. Makes me want to go get one, but find another 50 horsepower to make it more fun.

lightweight?? no , neo chassis is quite heavy in its class...n yes neo should get at least 50hp more 😂 that why i convert it to mivec turbo engine ...

I had a short stint with a manual neo cps when my hair was still all black. I must say its bang for buck if one want to have fun. The handling is just sooo nice and neutral like how uncle said (his steering input in the video is clear evidence) and maintenance is cheap. It does not need to have an engine that produce millions of hp, super expensive suspension, etc. All it need is just a driver that can maximise everything.

The car is fun and that is the fact but it does really need a lil bit of power or torque to actually maximize it's stock performance.it does lagg alot for it's body weight.

Seems like u were chased man, in every car i drove in ur uploaded vids to genting, definitely this vid i think the most intense in terms the way u keep not to be overtaken by the car that chasing u all way up to hill, u nailed it man n u seem much faster in corner in that old neo (why i said its old because it seems the car had a hard time getting pickup, it seems the car are heavy)...n u proved it epicly, nicely, calmly without showing any careless n dangerous way of driving, u ar legend man...

Thanks, but fyi, the chase car was actually a friend with a camera in the car to shoot our car; his job was to capture a video from the back, and is under instruction never to overtake. It was never a race: I did my best to wring out every bit of performance out of the Neo though, because of the lack of power. To its credit, the car handled very well, tyres were good and the coilover suspension was great for handling. The car owner dit a good job, and I helped with the alignment set up.

nahh, just do it my dude, i brought my "older than me" satria up there, and the only issues i encounter was my pads was starting to smell. other than that it ran just fine .

Small cc car is da best lor genting road… I use jazz gk5 still stock enjin, touge with Ferrari Lambo M3 Impreza Evo6 carerra. Unfortunately stock jazz is 2nd place 🥰💨 btw all the drivers really cool & respect each other after the fun. Lovely

1 degree negative camber. Toe out the front and toe in the rear 1mm each

Campro engine is best to drive above 4000rpm to avoid the torque dip issue.

Agree. Anyway the short gearing was great for this hill. We were above 4,000 rpm most of the time. I was changing at about 6000

Megane surely can’t catch Satria Neo in the corner as it is using torsion beam. Proton should use slightly powerful engine on Neo. 180bhp should be the sweet spot.

Hahaha, a bit late for the Neo. It is no longer in production, but I do agree with you on the power. The Megane suspension was stock, compared to the sporty coilovers in the Neo.

Hello hi uncle YS Khong . Cuma nak minta pendapat . Every weekend i akan drive my neo cps dari mersing-kl-mersing . On highway from tol ayer hitam to tol sg besi tiada masalah. Cuma road along mersing to kluang akan melalui selekoh selekoh. Any advice on jenis tayar or brand tayar yang bagus untuk selekoh tapi pada masa yang sama kekalkan keselesaan dan kekalkan all suspension from factory setup. Tq in advice sifu 🙏🏻

If the engine feels good, it can do it. Make sure your brakes are good, and also suspension is in a good condition.

The only wasy to get a Suprima on the slopes is if someone lends us his or her car. Even then, a lot depends on the condition of the car: we do not drive ppor condition cars.
