Make your own seat covers! I started with the instruction manual, for a sewing machine, and a ton of material... I wasn't sure how this would turn out, but I am proud of the result! You can do this too!

I applaud you with your first attempt. Having done upholstery years ago. One pointer is having exact measurements of the seat and backrest. The old covers had stretched with years of use. It’s a learning process. Overall you accomplished what you set out to do. I’m interested in what type of needle and thread you used. Most home machines can handle a leather needle and heavy duty thread for strength. Again, hats off to you for going for it ! 👍🏻

I have just started learning auto upholstery and have sewn garments and accessories most of my life. That's IMPRESSIVE that you sewed vinyl with a domestic machine!! Most of my newer home machines wimp out on 2 layers of denim let alone vinyl inserts. Good work and I am glad you are enjoying your new seats!

@@JakeHarrington Well I am using a Consew 226 which is a walking foot industrial. It is possible to find one used and they run about 900 - 1200 or so, depending on your area. Really, any industrial walking foot machine will be good for heavy materials like vinyl and light leather. For a more versatile machine that can handle light to heavy kinds of projects, you can't go wrong with an older Pfaff or a Brother Exedra. I have had really good experience with both. I hope you are enjoying your sewing adventures!

Hey I work with leather as a professional I hand tool usually but you did a good job 👏 I’m about to redo my truck seats in real leather so it lasts longer

Looks good, and I’m very impressed by the pleats and the inserts. I’m starting the upholstery on my ‘26 Model T, and this explains a lot.

The seat look great. I am about to do the same for my 65 f250 bench seat. I thought about finding a nice king ranch bench but why not try and do what you did. Keep the content coming!

Thank you! This was a true challenge for me! Had to get a few birds nests in the sewing machine, before attempting anything! In the end, I am happy with it. Most definitely a skill I'm glad I attempted to learn!

I tried once to do a seat in a street rod. Turned out just ok. I can see why people charge big bucks to do it! I may have it done professionally again if it bothers me enough. Like you said it don't hurt to try

I used this product! amzn.to/3F04fUM I ordered 4 yards of blue, and 3 yards of white, and had plenty of material left over! It was pretty good quality material! Still looks like the day I made the cover!
