Larry Hagman was simply BORN to be J R. What genius casting. Same as Clarke Gable as Rhett Butler in Gone With the Wind. Lorne Green as Ben Cartwright. I’m sure there are many more examples of perfect casting. Sometimes, something just ‘works’.

Absolutely NO ONE could've play the roll of J.R. Ewing better than Larry Hagman. So much different than his role on "I Dream of Jeannie" as Major Tony Nelson. The role he played in "Dallas" was his masterpiece!

His Cliff Barnes lines were EPIC! Needed more scenes of the two of them comically getting into it. As the show progressed, their feud became a hoot. Like two crabby old men who needed medicating. LOL!

JR with that slick tongue of his. He was still a chauvinist pig but I loved his clap backs. He may not have wanted Cally, or many women to be strong and independent. BUT Sue Ellen was his soul mate and once he saw how strong and independent she had become, he had mad respect for that. They could’ve been a cold piece together had the writers written them as a power couple in the later years.
