Watch a full tutorial as a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee will have a new double din bluetooth radio installed. We will be installing this double din in the factory 1.5 din location with some slight modifications to the dash and bezel. We also will be retaining the factory Infinity amplified sound system and steering wheel volume controls with the new radio.
This video applies to Jeep Grand Cherokee models for years 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004. This video demonstrates factory radio removal, wiring, radio installation, and testing.

I got this same Dash kit, but a 7" radio is too wide for it. What radio did you use? Do you know the width of the radio? - What I mean is the kit width does not allow the front of the radio to fit in it.

@@treefellonya This kit works with any standard double din chassis, and works with double dins with 7" screens. If you bought an android based no-name brand radio, those have terrible fitment issues which may be the cause of your issues.

@@ProvoBeastAudio I think you are right. However, I did find a kit that does accommodate those "non standard" double din radios. But, since I wanted "android play" I am looking for another radio. There are some acceptable non standard radios that seem to have some pretty good reviews, and under 100 bux. The Jeep Dash adapter I have will accommodate those. Thanks for responding - your channel is very helpful for die hard Grand Cherokee fans :D

I noticed that you never mentioned the secondary harness needed I think the yellow with blue wire to work. But great video!

I have an '02 WJ Grand Cherokee (note that the wiring harnesses are different for 1999-2001 and 2002-2004 models, and you need an antenna adapter for 2002-2004 models as well), and I wish the double-DIN kit was available when I installed my single-DIN Kenwood when I bought the Jeep back in 2014 (I have a KDC-BT758HD, the highest-end NON-Excelon unit with the SiriusXM SXV-300 Tuner Kit). If I were keeping my Jeep (I'm likely selling it to upgrade to a newer Jeep), I'd be upgrading to a Double-DIN unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I AM, however, taking my SiriusXM Tuner Kit with me for use with a future radio, keeping my current Kenwood installed in the Jeep when I sell it.

When I bypassed the Ebrake on my 09 Equinox all I did was hook the ebrake wire to the ground.

Question about the steering wheel controls. In the OEM configuration, those two wired (red / yellow and red / black) under the steering column must have connected to the OEM radio, right? So why can't you connect to those two wires in the radio compartment of the dash? Why do you have to splice at the steering wheel?

I can see on the door panel that you have the Infinity Gold system. Was there anything special you had to do so that the factory amplifier is still used with the new radio?

As far as I remember, the infinity system on my old grand Cherokee I sold, it used the high level speaker outputs from the head unit and sent them straight to the amplifier to then get amplified even more so the only extra wires I remember removing was a extra remote wire heading to the rear amp that you can just wire up to the key on power wire that is yellow on the aftermarket connector

I see you still have your skim unit, that was the first item on my list to delete when i got my WJ! i didnt want to get stranded in bum fuk egypt because my key wouldnt work properly, so now no worries dont have to use a chipped key anymore👍

You gave a link to a different radio for Android and Apple Car Play... is the installation process the same or are the parts different. I want to use my Samsung phone on bluetooth..
