OMG!! Thank you. After extensive reading, watching, and even testing, I think I finally have a handle on proxies and optimized media differences and applications. Appreciate the informational insight. Definitely taught me something. I've been using both. I've seen that if I use one or the other, the playback is still choppy. But if I implement both, the playback is smooth. I shoot UHD4K Footage, 24fps, from a Sony A7c camera, and edit on a MacBook 16GB M1.

yo, this whole video is gold. Thank you so much! One question that I had was, does proxy media compress audio files as well? I am trying to send a timeline to a sound mixer with all the related footage and audio files. I am not sure if the sound mixing will require original files or will proxies effect the audio's quality?
