This is going to be my favourite in the next few years. I love forests and I love mixed species too. Another well presented video. Was this done recently or in December? Cheers

I'm going to create a forest from a field maples. I will do some airlayering from the tree we have in tha garden and also I'm going to collect some saplings. Thank you for the tips, I haven't realize that trees should have similar structure like the brunches on the single bonsai tree. This spring I'm going to get and prepare the material and the next year I will put it all together. I'm looking forward to it.

I love finding that one piece of knowledge that gives the "Aha!" moment. In this one, it is the careful placement of fertilizer. I have a very young (3 years from seed) trident forest that has size difference based solely on the initial size of the seedlings; that I fertilize with liquid fertilizer. I might have to add in some solids to the mix to more accurately select which tree grows faster. Oh, and the goat is a master touch!!

You showered the forest of your viewers with a lot of invaluable informations as regards making a bonsai forest. I got a thought that whenever we plan to repot the bonsai forest we would have to take a pic of this forest before doing the repotting so that we don't alter the position of specifically branched out plants of our bonsai forest. What do you say ?

The wound sealant Jelle shows is Kiyonal for anyone interested. Ideal for small to medium sized wounds. A bit too runny if the wound is vertically located in the trunk, for example. For large wounds I either use a solid putty or Karusmate, which I've seen being used in maples by Japanese bonsai artists with surprisingly effective and quick results.

Very interesting to follow your process! Any suggestion where to source training pots that big at a reasonable price (plastic/mica pots included if not preferred - as training pots)?

Great video, thank you. One comment I do have is - you are storing this forest right on the ground and assume do not have issues with rodents. I had at least 5 or 6 maple and redwood forests destroyed by small rodents when i also used to overwinter them on the ground. Be careful, rodents can quickly kill years of your hard work, specially younger trees.

Why thinner wire on thinner branches? Larger would work too?
