If I may, I learnt this method of improving production when we lived on 1 lot of land....50ft x 100ft. We were a large family. My mother would go out into our garden and snip off the tops of okra, tomatoes, amaranth and egg plants. She would clip off the young pumpkin vines and cook as spinach. She told me the pumpkin will send out new vines and produce more pumpkins and the tops that were snipped off produced branches so gave us more fruit off the 1 plant. Today after 70 years I still do that.

I've always planted pepper plants and always get tall plants that produce next to nothing until the late fall. Last year I pruned the plants just like this and ended up with over a dozen jars of pickled peppers in the pantry by mid-summer. I always wished I took some gardening classes to learn tips like this when I was younger.

Brady Neal parenting isn’t about always telling the child they’re doing or saying things wrong, it’s about encouraging these things in healthy and positive ways! It’s about sending them off into society as decent people who have a joy for life and can be independent. By constantly pointing out a child’s “flaws” as if they come as fully formed individuals is just a sign of emotional immaturity which usually stems from inadequate parental guidance during one’s own formative years. Parenting is to guide them in a gentle way (not to be confused with zero boundaries)! You’d be an excellent parent one day if you could let go of the “perfection and hast” part. There is no need for frustration over minor things that will correct themselves if there is encouragement, and according to psychology the child will pock up on proper language as they go, and there is no need to stop and make the child feel bad because their language isn’t “perfect”. A child is in dire need of being allowed to not know it all, and as adults we do them a disservice if we keep surveilling them in a negative way. Healthy support is what children’s brains are going to thrive from! We don’t only exist to know “double negative”, but most importantly we need healthy boundaries and kindness etc. a child isn’t there to compete with. Sure you can raise a child that will have a proper language from very early on, but how is that child in a social setting and how will that child feel about themselves when all it’s been told constantly is “that’s not how you do it, you do it wrong, how many times have I told you etc etc etc”. Do you think you would go to bed and sleep well if you knew how that tears a child down to have a negative and “perfectionist” parent who doesn’t mind their own narrative and who will mock the child. Children are in need of unconditional love not conditional love based on if they are deserving weather or not they got enough things right from day to day. *I’m sorry your guardian/s was/were too hard on you!* 💛 Ps. There are plenty of good books to read about child psychology and parenting!

This is a perfect video. I didn't understand where the new growth would come in after pruning. Now I do. Also I didn't know how many leaves that should be left behind nor where exactly is the budding of the top that should be cut. Actually there is so much more information than what I have recapped that you were able to put in such a short video. Your teaching style is simple and great. I'm amazed. It was nice that you showed a previously pruned plant for comparison. Thanks a lot! Nice father and son time too 🤗

One year I planted a half dozen Hungarian wax peppers in a small raised bed. Rabbits came in and chomped off the tops pretty close to the ground. I made chicken wire cylinders to provide protection. To my surprise, the plants responded by bushing out as described. Best crop of peppers I ever grew. Serendipity!

Your video shows good and necessary practices. Most garden plants need pruning to be optimally productive, pruning increases production and saves space. Most home gardeners do not realize that growing plants does not stop with just putting the plant in the ground and watering. Keep up the good work and spread the word. By the way the growing center of a plant stem is known as the meristem

I have had very good luck increasing my bell pepper harvest by pinching the stems. I pinch once I have 6-8 leaves and the plants get very sturdy and very full. Its amazing how soon they start to bloom after pinching. The stems become very thick and sturdy too. My best yield comes when I plant two bell pepper plants in a 5 gallon bucket as opposed to growing them in the ground. I have harvested as many as 15 nice sized peppers from one plant over the years depending on the warmth of the season.

I had to water the ground real well because it was so hard and full of wide cracks I couldn't get a shovel down in it. The earth is heating up down under the ground and the sun is burning from above. Gonna be hard to grow food without a lot of care. May God bless all of you with what you need and share if you have plenty.

Ahhh! I am growing my first big garden this year and heard the opposite about tomatoes and plucking off lower limbs so I had done that on my peppers. I’ll keep an eye on them and do what you said. Thank you so much!
