even though this video is 2 years old, still helped me out! I was noticing some print quality issues that I though was "z banding" but after disassembling the X carriage I found the X axis pulley was loose! Thank you!

You're welcome! I remember that issue being so puzzling, because my first thought wasn't a loose pulley as the culprit for my issues!

There is also a hole on top centered right next to the X axis motor that you can put a alan wrench into to tighten the set screw gear. Just move the X axis till the tool drops into the set screws. Same size as the Y axis set screw.

this video saved me! i had a broken x axis belt a couple weeks ago i couldn't explain and your video helped me remove and replace that, but problems with layer shifts, exactly like yours, remained. took her apart using your steps, pulley was totally loose, surprised it could print at all. got some threadlocker and reassembled. thanks so much for this video.

Already replaced my X-axis belt, prosess of which included watching your video on the subject. Now this too. I quess they should apply threadlock when making the machines.

Thanks a lot! I just received mine 2 days ago and it came with losen gear. Now it's printing brilliantly. However it seems louder than before disassembly, did you came across the same problem at all?

Great to hear! Does the noise sound belt tension related? Make sure the belt is not too tight! It could also be the alignment of the belt.

@@RevolutionX I'll get a closer look at the belt then, but it sounds a bit like the fan behind the heatblock has a little vibration as if it's not mount the same as it was before, even though it's pushed in as much as it could be. It's especially noticeable when it prints long perimeters

Hello, just got a new one but my x-axis test is failing. X-axis does not move all the way to left and get stuck during the test. The belt seems tight. Can you please tell me how to fix it. Thanks!

First things I'd check is to remove the belt, and see if the carriage moves smoothly across the x-axis to make sure there is no binding. If that is ok, then follow Prusa's recommendations in regards to setting the belt tension. I recommend reading through some of the threads at the Prusa Forums. forum.prusaprinters.org

Hi does thredlock come with the prusa? It says “tighten the pulley screws” but there is no Allen key that fits perfectly in the screws therefore mine is loose too and getting “x axis length” error code. Great vid plz help!

No it doesn't come with the printer. I use it for my R/C trucks.

@@RevolutionX Was working on it pretty much as I was writing that comment. This was a small issue that got worse over time until it was making prints unusable to send out to customers. Got it fixed now, thanks to your video for help. Have a great weekend, my friend!
