5ghz is fine 6ghz is not out on all devices, I don’t think the ps portal supports 6ghz or WiFi 6 not sure yet, but yes 5ghz connection will be very good for it. The reason I said separate the networks is due to some routers mixing WiFi 2.4ghz with 5ghz sometimes not giving u full strength of 5ghz and when you separate the access point to 5ghz u know u get the 5ghz speeds

@@JohnnyCanal oh okay yeah I got separate names for my 2.4ghz and 5ghz and 6ghz so im okay and yeah the portal and ps5 only do 5ghz so ill have to put that under the 5ghz.

Honestly just disconnect your HDMI cable from the PS5, the Portal will then run as you imagined it would of out the box

Have you tried changing resolution on ps5 to 1080p some reported that fixed it for them

I also had the problem with bad Portal Performance. The only solutions that fixed it for me were 1. connecting my ps5 via a cable to my router instead of wifi to reduce latency, 2. forcefully opening the TCP and UDP ports for my PS5 (port forwarding) that are needed for streaming in my router settings as this ports are normally closed by default. That fixed the issue completely for me and I can now fully enjoy my Portal. I still get some picture quality drops at certain times in the evening, but it's due to the fact that I live in a flat and when all my neighbors gradually return home and start using their wifi device (phones, Laptops, etc.) the wifi channels get more populated/clouded and that in return makes it harder for the portal to receive a stable signal. As my neighbors start to go to bed and using their devices less and less, my portal gradually returns to its full streaming glory. If you want to try this yourself, the ports you need to open are: (For the PS5) TCP: 80 443 3478 3479 3480 UDP: 3478 3479 49152 - 65535 (For the PS4) TCP: 465 983 1935 3478-3480 5223 10070-10080 UDP: 3478 3479 3658 10070 I opened all of them just to be safe. If you do not know how to do this, or you think it will take to long - you also can force your router to make the playstation an "exposed host" (I think it's called "DMZ Host" in America) in just one click. Just google how to do this. I personally would not recommend it because it puts your playstation before the firewall granting it full access to the internet. In reverse also everyone from the internet can see and ping your playstation. Theoretically, if someone hacks your playstation they also get full access to your network and your all your devices. It's very compromising. But there's also not even one known case of a playstation being hacked from outside. I prefer the first method but I also have two friends that have all their playstations marked as exposed hosts since the playstation 3 era and nothing did ever happen (cause they had problems with voice chat on the ps3 and that's how they resolved them).

You're welcome! 😁 I hope your Portal is working better now. That's the problem. The average user won't know about it and will just return the Portal because of incredible lag. To be fair, when I buy a 200$ device, I kinda expect it to work as advertised out of the box. If it doesn't - refund. In the case of mirroring/streaming devices the restrictions are commonly found in the users network itself. The ISP can't ship your router with all this ports open by default, as it's a huge security risk. You should activate port forwarding per each individual device, so that only this device can use these ports. Otherwise your network would be incredibly vulnerable. To be fair, some newer routers give you the option to let a device choose an open ports that it needs as it goes. This option is also commonly activated via one click and is not hard to find. BUT - my router has this option and it's not working at all. I tried it first - playstation did not Initiate even one forwarding rule. Even as I tried mirroring to the portal. Still had to do it manually. My only hope is that as mirroring and streaming becomes more mainstream, router manufacturing companies will probably feature some "gaming options" and maybe the router will be able to distinguish between a gaming console and a phone and let one set up forwarding rules automatically and the other not. We'll have to wait and see 😊

​@@glovedcop69Played on Asus 5 ghz regular router and on Verizon's 1gb 5 ghz. Played the entire day yesterday and today and had very few instances of lag. No audio issues whatsoever.

no mine is 900 down 20 up and it lags when playing online pvp but solo it's decent

That’s what I have and it worked decent via WiFi but I bought a Cat6 Ethernet cable for like $10 and it worked tremendously better.

Yeah the speed could be slowed due to 7 devices connected to your home network depending on their usages I think upload speed also had big factor as well as the PlayStation is somewhat uploading to the internet like a stream

@@JohnnyCanal Some things I've tried that you can share with people are using my phone as a 5G hotspot to connect my PS5 and Portal to at home instead of my wifi. You can also tell people to try using their phone or laptop as a wifi tether for their PS5 and Portal and try that as well. I've had various results with these tests. You could try some of these suggestions out and see if they work better or worse for your devices.

​@@JohnnyCanalI just found out if you unplug the HDMI from your PS5 while in rest mode and then connect your Portal up it works much better! You can also use the original Pulse headphones with the dongle attached to your PS5 to actually use wireless headphones too and those work extremely well!

Fairly, more devices more spread in your connection so yeah lessen the total of the devices or get better internet.

From my experience the portal will connect to the mobile hotspot, but I couldn’t connect to my ps5 away from home using mobile hotspot spot. Mobile hotspot spot data is not/was not strong enough (Tmobile carrier). I was pretty disappointed.

Your isp would have have to give u better upload, however connection should be fine for most part are u using a WiFi router that u purchased and not the isp one

This is true however most wifi 6 router have better speeds and processing its the better standard they are fairly cheap now

If you’re in your home with the ps5 you can’t use the WiFi alone…remote play is when the portal is near the ps5. So technically the ps5 would be using the WiFi 6 and the portal would vibe from the ps5 internet connection.

Really weird. Cause with me it play perfectly with only 300mbs wifi with 30 mbs upload. Portals play perfectly even on Returnal.

funny thing is the ps5 stream the signal via the internet to the portal not the wifi. If you turn on wifi but with no internet, you can't play the portal at all !
