OLED looks so much better. I wish they Sony hadnt changed screens cuz the Slim is better in every way except the screen

For all those people debating on the PSvita Slim's LCD screen, and the PSvita's OLED screen, go with the PSvita Slim. The LCD screen lasts longer and provides the longest lifespan and the quality of the screen never drops over time. The OLED screen doesn't last as long, and it's pixels get worse over the years and it drops in brightness too. So consider that.

OLED obviously much better

OLED has deeper blacks and the colors are more rich than the LCD. What it comes down to though is personal preference: Do you sacrifice screen quality for slightly better battery life, weight reduction and micro USB port or do you sacrifice the aforementioned for a better screen. All comes down to personal preference but by no means an easy choice.

Going for the Switch OLED after watching this, I play 80% handheld, so excited to see how good games look on a slighty bigger screen with vivid colours and darker blacks.

I was able to test both models while I was in Hong Kong last week... verdict? New PS Vita is cheaper, because it's been made cheaper... I'll take the OLED, thank you very much.

I appreciate you making this video. Seeing the difference between the screens on KZfaq is much different than in person, so it helped being able to hear your opinions on how they look.

The only thing that really bugs me about the 2000 is that frame around the screen. The 1000 has one uniform glass and plastic faceplate, whereas the face of the 2000 is segmented and has lots of crease lines.

Awesome screen comparison. I have the one 1000 and I prefer the OLED over the LCD, but I like the design of the 2000 more.

This really is the best comparison video I've seen to me shows the clear superiority of the OLED screen! it looks stunning! I wish I could believe in this technology its so clear the blacks are so inky black but we all know what they say about something thats too good to be true it usually is!! and in this instance its the short lifespan of the organic components that make up the OLED pixels!! the blue OLED pixels are a big problem and start to degrade after a fairly short time! I'd like to see another comparison video showing a fresh PS Vita 1000 and one after a few years of usage. its in the name! organic light emitting diode!! I don't see how organic components are ever going to last as long as silicon based LCD screens.

Why does the 2000 look like absolute washed out yellow shit in every other video but this one?

The battery life of the old Vita is already incredible. When I was frequently playing (2 hours a day) it lasted for about 3 days. So need to update for me :)

I just got my ps vita fat yesterday after watching many comparisons and it is awesome very happy with the oled screen!!!! graphics are sharp and clear no videos on here really do them justice. only problem im having is NAT issues cant remote play on my ps4 and im not 100% sure how to fix it.

OLED screens always look better then LCD when filmed. Its like all Sony phones people say the screens have poor viewing angles and yes they do if you want to look at your phone from a 90 degree angle lol Although back in real life usage the LCD screens look perfect straight on and any realistic angle you may use. What the fuck does it matter if the screen looks washed out at 90 degrees or when filmed by a video camera, you wont be using it under them conditions!

The colors on the oled screen are far better than the lcd's. The only downside to oled is the mura effect (seeing black dots and lines when viewing the system in a dark environment)

I will stick with my old PS vita that's the whole point of having a hand held game is the picture ,don't get my wrong, I like the improvements of the Vita slim but the best part about the Vita was the screen everybody talk about the battery life , I get a good 4 to 5hrs out of the old vita and most of the time I don't play it past 2 or 3hrs so the extra battery life is not a selling point for me, I love the beautiful screen of the old Vita and that's the best part of having a hand held device, now if you never had the 1st Vita you wouldn't mind the Vita slim but anybody who has own the old vita and going to the slim its a slight downgrade cause your eyes are used to that screen

A side by side splitscreen comparison like this shows off how much better and clearer the OLED is compared to the LCD. Makes my decision for finally buying Fat Vita that much easier.

The Slim Vita is wiped down. The microfiber cloth gave it a brushed off look, and my lighting highlighted it at a certain angle. It doesn't affect the results much at all.

Next time rather test them in the same light conditions. Even the actual PSVITA logo on the bottom of the Slim model looks washed out + the backgrounds behind the Vitas look different to each other. Brightness+Color. So the camera might be compensating to light differences causing the test to be inaccurate, but I do believe there are differences. It just is difficult to do a proper comparison.

I never liked xLED screens. Especially the partial contrast between grays. A lot less details on darker areas too. The temperature of the oled screen on ps vita is higher than it should be. LCD is way better.

Very true, I honestly should have put a disclaimer in this video. But yes, a camera pointing at an electronic screen is going to ghost over some visual oddities, like the horizontal lines. The LCD screen holds up very well, and looks quite good when judged on it's own. But the OLED on the current hardware just spoils us.

Sony screwed up this time; a new Vita model should be designed in order to SELL MORE UNITS. In that regard, it's a terrible idea to remove the thing people loved the most about the PS Vita; If the original OLED screen had some kind of issues, they should have just upgraded it and used that instead.

Inferior screen and cheaper overall build aside, I actually think the slim is aesthetically more pleasing than the original.

A lot of clowns were saying the LCD on the Slim was WASHED OUT. Well let me tell you guys something, I got the slim (borderlands 2 bundle) yesterday and guess what? They lied!!! I don't know if they even messed with the photos I saw from the review I was reading before I made the purchase. The LCD id beautiful, it's not over saturated and the new vita addressed quite a bit of the issues the older model had. I really was like, "WTH, is this the screen they said was bad?" (I compared it with that of my Xperia Z2 and it was still sharp and beautiful). Where people get the washed out idea from is beyond me

I'm thinking about buying a slim vita to replace my original one with a shattered screen, so when I started watching this video I said to myself "Well shit, maybe I should just buy another old version because the new screen looks like trash" but then I realized that I'm watching this video on a cheap lcd computer monitor. I enjoyed the deep colors you get on the OLED, but if I'm honest the was hardly "better" than a nice smartphone screen, and it only looks so epic compared to the new vita in this video because of the way it was recorded and represented on my monitor. I guess the only way to know for sure if I want to "downgrade" is by seeing them side by side in real life.

I have just recently bought the the vita slim 2000 with LCD which took me a long time to decide weather to go with the slim 2000 LCD or the Older OLED and i chose the newer version the vita slim 2000 with LCD and compared with my brothers older version, the screen is not overpoweringly bright and you tend to notice more detail as the brightness isn't overpowering the graphics, having said that, there is a Lighter look of washed colour on the Vita 2000 Slim. If you compare, then some clips of games look better for each handheld in different ways. I don't think that videos in general give the consoles justice as they give the screens a distorted look and do not show the full potential of the graphics. No matter which one you buy, i guarantee you'll be happy and i do recommend the Newer Vita Slim 2000 LCD screen. They are both roughly round about the same price range in the UK anyway so it made sense for me to get the up to date version to take advantage of the new style and features. I hope this helps you people who are just planning to buy a PS Vita as i understand what a struggle it is as it took me awhile to decide.

They should've kept the OLED model at 200 and put the LCD one at 150

I might sell my OLED Vita and buy the Borderlands 2 Bundle with the LCD Vita. The difference isn't huge, and the longer battery life (imo) is worth the difference.

I noticed the camera did no justice for the slim, I own both and once you're into a game there is little difference in screens. Lighter longer battery life and more comfortable to play for extended lengths of time. My only complaint is not being able to use all the accessories I have for the 1rst Vita, like the silicone grip and sound cradle other than that I haven't put the slim down since I got it.

I picked up my Vita model 1103 tonight.One way to look at it is I wouldn't have gotten such a good deal, if the retailer wasn't trying to shift stock by the boat full before LCD launch... Pack included Fifa 14 (which I'll probably trade for older version) & 10 game 8GB pack, then add that to the other 15 games I've accumulated within my first few months of PS+. Deal also included a 12 month PS+ sub, so by the end up that I'll probably have another 24+ games Overall I'm very happy with it.

Other videos show MASSIVE saturation differences, this one seems to be the same almost on saturation, just a lot better contrast on the OLED, better whites/blacks. Is the camera compensating for the saturation? Or did it look exactly like this when recording.

Found the original O-LED Vita with Killzone Mercenary+Jak and Daxter trilogy+8 gigs of memory card for just 200! It will be here tomorrow and i can't wait! I was thinking of waiting for the 2000 model but seeing as the screen is pretty much the same as the PSP's and it is unknown if i will find such a bargain again i am picking the original up.

The camera on the LCD was little blurry at times and didn’t focus. I just traded for a 2000 model! Modding time!

The thing that bothers me the most is on the LCD its more prone to seeing your fingerprints and streaks in game and can get in the way or be annoying.

Both graphics look fine to me, no matter what your still getting great games, although I do feel like there could've been an update for models with an LCD screen to accommodate to older games meant for an OLED screen.

im not really a fan of the old vita screen just because i have sensitive eyes. and the brightness hurt them. so i don't mind the down grade to a slightly darker screen.

The OLED screen has alot more vibrant colors where as in the LCD everything looks likes it interlaced and made eveything abit whiter which just looks bad. I can understand it was to cut costs and sell more but if you're like me and enoy seeing brighter and more indepth colors (see the into of persona 4 golden for more info) the 1000 is the better choice

So I know that the Vita 2000 (slim) is near enough the same size to fit most cases designed for the original Vita. With that, I bought a starter kit designed for the original Vita as they were clearanced priced. The kit also includes a set of screen protectors. I know the back touch screen is smaller and so the rear protector won't fit, but I'm honestly much more concerned about the front screen. Is the screen size so much the same that I could use a screen protector for the original or would I need to get one specifically for the slim model? Thanks.

Im so glad i got the OLED one now.

The original model's OLED display is much, much better. But the Vita 2000 is lighter, cheaper, thinner, has a longer battery life and is more attractive. It is also more comfortable, and the colorful parts are rubbery and gummy-like. I'd say if you love OLED color reproduction go with the original. But if you love the new design go ahead, I won't judge it. It's awful purdy.

The lowest brightness level on the oled is still super bright, I find the LCD model can be adjusted so its easier on the eyes. Its a deal breaker but I'm problaly gonna wind up getting both... And maybe the 3g model as well... Battle royale is awesome

As much as it's very difficult to tell off a camera recording, the LCD doesn't look so bad. Colour balance/temperature is a bit different but in reality 99% of people wouldn't notice unless literally viewig side by side. I'm surprised the LCD contrast ratio doesn't look so bad next to the OLED. Frankly if it's anything like a modern smartphone screen quality then there's no issue. I'd quite like to swap my VIta for the new one, mainly because it looks comfier to hold, more rounded edges and USB!

Everyone in the comments is raving about OLED, but it was really really bad for me. The OLED screen had this weird problem where each pixel was a slightly different color when trying to show the same color, giving the screen a permanently dirty look that isn't fixable. I've never had this problem on LCD screens.

Would be interesting to see the brightness/contrast specs for both, OLED should be the winner here, but I suppose there must be some justification (except for price) for the change to an LCD screen.....

Yeah don't worry bout those horizon lines. I looked closeley and saw em moving, indicating that it's the camera trying to focus onto it. A different screen, LCD, i guess doesn't come out in cameras as pretty as OLED does.

Whats funny is that most people talk about image quality they actually mean screen resolution so you still have sharp text as well as beautiful visuals. Both vitas have same damn resolution and graphics chip, i have the 2000 version and its just fine only difference is colors are natural on the slim where as on oled there improved much better other than that lcd is fine. Besides majority of people now days are too concerned of visuals rather than gameplay smh like back in the day lol

I have the original PS Vita 1000. I got it new back in the day and I've been playing it for a long time. The system and screen are still super good. In fact, I bought a Nintendo Switch recently and was really confused about why my old PS Vita looked better than the New Swtich. I googled for answers and learned that the OLED is the reason. In fact, the screen difference makes me not even like the switch. The experience really is lacking. It feels like looking at a shallow pool (LCD) vs looking into a deep ocean full of rich color (OLED). Playing Stadia games on my phone/laptop is better than the Switch, because of my OLED high PPI android screen.

It's good to own both, the 2000 is lighter and has greater battery life if you play extended sessions for a few hours a day before you clock into your shift at work. The 1000 is graphically superior though you will rely more on the ac adapter, as well as buy a controller grip if your like me and the weight hurts your hands after long hours.

i might buy a PS vita soon and i've been watching a lot of videos about ps vita slim's review and besides the overpriced memory chip, the next ball dropping for PS Vita was the LCD monitor. For me, i prefer the OLED one now. Image quality or the quality of the screen for me is the most vital thing. I just don't know if i could still find a brand new PS VITA 1000 anymore. Didn't liked buying on the internet so. well. story of my life.... :/

i usually get each model if i find them cheap enough, but wow what a step backward, next there going to be like the new v3 ps vita now with no screen! Also my biggest bitch is how account are tyed to cards and systems, i know its for piracy protection but for fucks sake cant it link with my PS3 to see my purchases are legit i bought LBP content between two account on PS3 and it was fine, not on vita and fuck content manager. Most unfriendly piece of shitware proprietary software since itunes. ok rant over. you guys can relax and hang up the phone.

psvita 2000 have the same problem in scren of psp 3000 the line in the screen hurt eyes and very bad quality .you can see that on UNCHARTED section very very bad screnn and very bad idea sony OLED VS LCD no lcd looooooooser

The OLED is blotched crap, LCD is superior to that. The OLED blacks are not true blacks and they are super uneven (=blotchy) if viewing mostly black content. I have the OLED model myself with maybe 5 play hours clocked in during 2 years... Still only few playable games and most of those games are available for PS3 also so Vita is just collecting dust in a closet.

Well the ps vita slim (pch-2000) is much better.because it is slimmer, lighter, extra battery life,and comfortable. Thats why I bought it . doesn't matter if its oled or Lcd.and more over the ps vita slim looks stylish.
