PS Waverley late this afternoon sailing back from Corrie towards Brodick, Isle of Arran, having gone past Brodick where it was scheduled to berth.
The vessel was coming back from a trip round Holy Isle and Pladda at the South of the island, but continued on to Corrie at 9.5 knots with a helicopter above it the whole way from Lamlash.
I could see this on the live AIS Marine Traffic app.
When I caught up with it near Corrie, they had just turned and were on their way back to Brodick after the detour.
I didn't know what the reason for going past Brodick to Corrie was, but it turned out it was to airlift a passenger to a hospital on the mainland.
This was announced on the tannoy at Brodick before departing the berth.
