@@fredericmarchiol8704 to be quite frank, I'm not sure it is. Haven't done a detailed analysis. But Bloodborne gives a strong, metal, heavy sound and that's quite enough for me.

Never ever really comment on anything…. My son got a new gaming monitor for his birthday and hooked up his his ps5. He uses a headset from his controller, but when friends come round they can’t hear. I decided to get him speakers…. The trouble I’ve had is unreal… Until seeing this video. I’m now gonna but this little dongle!! Thanks so much! I’ve been searching for days and days about how to overcome the problems I’ve been having. Also, your real good to listen to. Very chilled, to the point etc. Great channel!

Thank you for the video! I ended up using the same USB interface and it works great. The only small issue is that the PS5 recognises it as an headset and automatically mutes the controller speaker. Unless there's a way around it? cheers

Depends on the capability of the monitor, but you’ll typically have an aux out of some kind. It should work plugging it directly into your PS5, though.

The issue with this is that, most of the time, the audio jack cable makes interference noises.

You may need a ground loop isolator as well, if you’re getting static from interference.

I tried with a soundbar from sony the model is HT-CT 290. I've also bought that same adapter. And than connected a Aux to Optical cable. The PS5 sees the audio device but I don't get any sound on my soundbar. How could I fix it?

I have an XLR mic, so I use a GoXLR (amzn.to/3URdGg2). It’s not cheap, and does voice changing and all kinds of other things. I run the line out through a volume control knob, and then to the mic input of the adapter to get my XLR mic to work through my PS5, including voice changing and everything.

Unfortunately, my PS5 does not recognise my Yamaha USB speakers. They sound awesome, even when turned up super loud and they work perfectly with everything I've tried them on, Windows laptops, Apple Macs, Linux, BSD's and also my PS4 and PS4 Pro. But alas, not my PS5. I have no idea why though, since USB audio devices like this are generically supported, since they all appear the same or very similar from a USB audio driver perspective. Usually a USB audio device will work with the basics on *_ANY_* system and the only trouble you might have is with more specific and advanced features of that USB audio device. But not with the PS5! Does not work, at all. FFS So I'm going to need to get a USB or HDMI to optical converter, to use my speakers.

That’s a bummer. I actually use this HDMI switch/audio extractor: amzn.to/3vkBeiw to get optical audio to my GoXLR mixer. I have been happy with it. Plus, I can plug my PS5, XSX, and Nintendo Switch all into it, and just switch inputs when I switch consoles.

@@DocValentino Oh wow, that's interesting. Thanks for the heads up! I have a unit like that, packed away somewhere in my collection of nick-knacks, but I can't remember if it has optical audio out. If I find that it doesn't, I might grab one of those! Failing that, I was also considering the HDMI passthrough box with optical out sold by ASTRO (Gaming HDMI Adapter for PlayStation 5). Out of interest, would you happen to know if that unit you mentioned strips the copyright bit on the output of the S/PDIF optical audio out? Reason I ask, is that I like to mix game audio with music of my choice without needing to use Apple Music or Spotify streaming services on my PS5. I was previously doing this by passing my PS4 Pro optical audio out to an old Marantz network receiver I have (does Internet radio, local MP3's via USB, iPhone via USB, DAB+ FM, etc), the optical output of which was then passed to an old Apple Mac mini I have (running Linux). This then allowed me to listen to a mix of both my PS4 Pro gaming and MP3's of my choice. This was enabled by the fact that my Marantz network receiver stripped the copyright bit from the optical audio it received. If I merely plugged my PS4 Pro into my Mac mini in this fashion, without the Marantz, I would just hear silence from the PS4 Pro, because it sets the copyright bit on it's optical audio out and my Mac mini audio chipset then honours that and refuses to use it. The Marantz kindly strips that copyright bit and thus my Mac mini audio chipset then plays that audio. I was hoping that a much more economical (running costs) way of doing this might be a low power device like what you recommended.

I bought this at your rec and it arrived today. Its extremely quiet compared to using the controller output and has a high frequency buzz to it. Sounds like there's tons of interference going on and its just genuinely really bad. I don't imagine QC is fantastic on a $10 dongle like this. :/

You may need a ground loop isolator if you get buzzing. I don’t get buzzing from this setup, but I do with some other things, and that almost always fixes the buzzing.

Don't make it more than it is? Ohhh I got one for you. I have a leftover ps5 headset with that USB dongle to transmit audio from ps5 to the headset. I also have a behringer mixer that I'm tired of being tethered to. I'm wondering if I could get a 3.5mm to usb port adapter and plug it in the headphone jack on the mixer, then plug the usb dongle into that, and maybe magically the ps5 headset will pair back up to the dongle and I'll get the audio coming through the headphone jack?

I’m thinking the magic part won’t work when the dongle is plugged into the mixer, but it’s worth experimenting. I have a GOXLR. I’m set up so when I play on my PS5, I can get all of my audio from the mixer, use my XLR mic with voice effects from the mixer into my in game chat, and be completely wireless on my headset and controller. This requires some devices and cables to set up, but it’s great once set up. I’ll be doing a video on it when I get a chance, and hopefully it can help with the mixer you have as well. I started a new day job 8 months ago, and it’s been tough finding time to get videos put together, but I’m committed to grinding it out this year.

@@DocValentino interesting. I don't have a ps5 anymore, but I kept the headset. There doesn't seem to be much info on whether or not the dongle can work in those 3.5mm to usb port adapters. Most stuff is going the other way (plugging a usb device to output sound INTO the 3.5mm port). But I want it to just transmit like the dongle would normally. It would be the cheapest option since I'd only have to buy an adaptor cable, instead of an entire dedicated 2.4ghz transmitting system.

I gotcha… I’d be curious to know if it works. I think I have a PS Gold headset lying around somewhere that used a dongle for wireless. I have never even tried using in any other manner (it came with a bundle and I only even used it a couple times). As part of my set up, my headset has a base station transmitter, but there probably are a lot more people using a wireless headset that uses a dongle. Might be something I need to experiment with as well.

@@DocValentino well, I guess I could just find out. Would only be out the cost of the adapter. But might be an interesting video idea too.

Yeah.. I was just looking at the adapters on Amazon. They are cheap, but they all have less than desirable reviews. My guess is the dongle for the headset, which gets its power from the USB port, wont get the power it needs from the 3.5mm jack.

this didn’t work for me.. i did everything exactly like the video please help i’ve been crying about this for days i got my ps5 months ago and have never had sound
