there's something about pre-hardmode that just has a different feel..... the caves aint so chaotic, you are exploring areas unknown, finding treasure, and using tools such as rope and minecarts and hooks to traverse the place. post-WoF tho.... you just fly around the place, all the boss fights take place on the surface, you re-explore the same places you were already at to get the new ores, the treasure chests only have stuff that you dont need any more, and there are so many mobs you are fighting more than exploring.
