"Psalm 23" by Paul Basler performed live at First Baptist Church, Jackson, MS on June 17, 2008.
The Mississippi Baptist All-State Youth Choir was first organized in 1993 by the Church Music Department of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board under the leadership of Susan Clark Luttrell, youth minister consultant, and L. Graham Smith, department director.
This special choir and orchestra is made up of 9th-12th graders who are chosen thourgh a personal audition and interview process. Each member must be an active participant in the music ministry of their local church and recommended by their pastor, school teachers, and minister of music.
James Meaders, Mississippi College, Clinton, MS is the choral director. David Young, Instrumental Contract Consultant, Church Music Department, MBCB, is the choir's orchestra director.

Memories...My high school choir sang this at Ground Zero. That remains one of the greatest, most moving experiences of my life, only to be surpassed by the day I married my best friend and watching my daughter take her first breath. It truly was an unbelievable experience.

I remember when I sang this in my Concert Choir for state, which we got straight superiors, I could not stop crying. It reminded me my friend, Raelynn. (RIP) But The whole choir by the time we finished, along with the room, had tears in their eyes... It was so intense and ever since then I love this song..

When we sang this for State, which we got straight Superiors, There were not any dry eyes in the house. It was so beautiful and My friends and I in the Alto and Soprano sections were crying so bad... but we kept singing... We started to cry at around 1:25

Watch your vowel shapes and tone. It will make this sound thousands of times better. The kids in the video are capable of more tone. Watch that the singers don't stretch their voices beyond what sounds good. The choir has a good presence. OVerall an enjoyable performance:)

@Tan1723 But I'm just talkin' about choral enunciation. Then, we can dig it! I liked being able to determine who was making what sound by watching their tongues and mouths. It's just the director in me, lol.

Good blend, but the compound time section "thou preparest" is far too loud. It's supposed to be tender.

This was performed too slow when it was meant to be faster, and too quick when it was supposed to be slow, plus the conducter skimmed over major parts of the song - but it is a very young group, so a job well done

It's Mississippi - we're talking about the one state in the Union that only criminalized segregation because Washington told it to.

As a white (at the time Southern Baptist) member of this choir and Mississippian, I hate that there was never an opportunity to listen to the best of the best of the state gathered together, including the many many talented non-white singers in the state.
