He says something like "I can founder up in there like a dead carp laying in the sunshine for a week." Like he fell over and just stayed lying down for a long time because of how stunned he was.

Flounder (to struggle or stagger helplessly or clumsily in water or mud)

'Founder' is when animal, commonly horses, eats way too much & gets deadly ill. This can happen when a feed storage area or vehicle is left open and unattended animals can feed themselves to death.

@@rwbimbie5854 I just tried looking up "define Founder Horse" (when "Founder" didn't work. Dozens of articles talking about: "Founder (laminitis) in horses is a serious condition of the foot caused by the pedal bone rotating and pointing towards the horse’s sole" One "A foundering horse - that is, a disabled one - is likely to collapse to the ground." Guess either is appropriate.

So, you didnt call a feed store or vet to ask if a horse can Founder by getting into the feed shed & eating a crapload of grain. Do you think Kent talking about food was using a Hoof & Foot ailment to describe how good something tastes, or the ~Eating Til You Die~ saying to describe how good something tastes

Texans are known for colorful expressions or verbal exaggerations with a really heavy accent to 1) confound non-Texans and 2) make people laugh. It’s an art form.

Why outside? During the historical cowboy era, an important part of the duties of many cowboys was the cattle drive, i.e. walking the cattle over long distances (the “trail”) to take them to a favorable place to sell them. This was especially true of longhorn cattle raised in Texas. In any case, one of the most important people during these drives was the cook. This is the source of “cowboy cooking,” and so he emulates this by preparing outdoors but I personally doubt his particular outdoor kitchen would have been practical for trail cooking. The most famous piece of equipment after the Civil War was the Chuck wagon, originally a modified Civil War supply wagon.

Looks like they were branding the calf, they use a hot metal rod with a logo on it that way if it is stolen the owner can be identified.

To expand on the soy sauce from my german perspective: Steven is right, some companies sell a sort of soy sauce which is chemically processed and has added coloring. Kikkoman brand soy sauce is sold almost in every german supermarket and the go-to soy sauce if you want a naturally brewed sauce without wierd ingredients. I think Kikkoman has a factory in the netherlands too. Starting as a kid I liked a dash of soy sauce in chicken or vegetable soup instead of salt. And my mother used Kikkoman and honey as a glaze on roasted meats like duck or pork like 40 years ago. So the marketing "tastes great on meat" seemed to have worked very well :-)

I live relatively close to the Kikkoman factory in the Netherlands, which is located in Sappemeer. The factory is the one who supplies Europe with Kikkoman soy sauce. In the USA there is also a Kikkoman factory for North America.

Hi Steven and Peach, I'm a new subscriber. I liked the concept of some of the previous videos, where Peach spoke Japanese and Steven spoke English. I also recommend that you expand your reactions to other types of contents (movies, music videos, etc) 頑張ってください!

All of the ranches brand their calfs/small cows in case they get loose they know that they are theirs. That's what they were doing.

i think if he just used some garlic and didnt put the sauce on top it would be pretty great. the sauce looked fine after it was cooked and blended into the rice.

It’s weird. We’re watching a guy literally in the middle of nowhere… They are running cattle. And they want to know why his hands and nails are dirty? No manicure in the middle of this place.

In fairness to Ken, the butter appears to be used for sautéing the mushrooms. Edit, hmmm, on second thought he doesn’t appear to add anything else.

Peach, this might be odd, but I appreciate your reaction to the BLM joke. As a southerner, the little bit of empathy to the bad stereotypes was unexpected and sweet.
