During the college basketball game between Loyola Marymount and Gonzaga, LMU's Cam Shelton hit a tough layup with under 15 seconds left to give the Lions a 68-67 lead. Gonzaga was unable to score on their final possession and Loyola Marymount picked up one of the biggest upset victories of the season.

This was Loyola Marymount’s first win in Spokane since 1991. It was also the first time a WCC team not named BYU or St Mary’s has beaten Gonzaga since 2013. Unreal.

I really feel like the WCC is getting better every year. Records are pretty close between teams, and games are typically very close. I like that Gonzaga are facing tests in their conference now that aren't just from St. Mary's & BYU.

I don't know why you're saying that. What they have been able to do over the past 20+ years is impressive. Even this year they have 4 losses. Other than this one, they have losses to #3 Purdue, #21 Baylor, and #7 Texas as well as having wins against #4 Alabama, #8 Xavier, Michigan State, Kentucky, and like 4 other teams that are like 15-3 or 15-4. I don't know how you get a much better resume than that.

I've been saying that the Zags are overrated for years now and folks usually debate me on this, but what needs to be understood is just because I say they're overrated, it doesn't mean they aren't good, it only means they are placed (by polls and writers) in a spot nationally which their team isn't ready for. They definitely are a top 20 team, but not top 10!

It is one of those arguments because there's no real way to prove things either way! Here's something to watch for (my prediction). The Zags will obviously make the march madness tournament, but they will lose in the second round. Now over the last few years they have won more games than most teams (numbers don't lie, but they are misleading). By means of their record and winning percentage they are top 10 and I'm not sure who I would have over them, but this squad is weaker than the ones they've had in the last 5 years.

Some of it is bad fortune and timing as well. For example, I thought they should've beaten North Carolina in their first final appearance. In their second one when they went 30 and 0 going into the game, they ran into a buzz saw called Baylor and it was one-sided.

Game winner is winning the game. Buzzer beater is different. That’s the way I always understood it. I just think basketball fans assume game winner is the last few seconds but doesn’t have to be. Kyrie in the finals with the cavs is a perfect example.
