Hits of the past years man, that just became popular.

As a korean myself, i think he never truly recovered from the success he went through. It was true that he was already a certified hitmaker but ever since gangnamstyle blew up his songs try so hard to be trendy. And its not that he wasnt like a trendy dance guy cause he certainly was(besides his early days of course as a hardcore controversial rapper). But gangnamstyle was a curse in disguise. As a psy fan i can definitely confirm hes not a one hit wonder. But the success of gangnam style and his previous successes happened because of different reasons. The reason why psy was loved in the first place in south korea was despite his controversies(like weed charges and military issues) he always somewhat provided good shows that people from all ages can enjoy(not necessary means like all ages rating but like the shows are fun). He was also known by his work ethics related to shows that he give out to colleges and making sure that everybody had a good time. And psys song champion and the song celebrity from his 3rd and 4th albums had that power. Also his lyrics could be funny but also could be very serious like his songs its art from his 5th album and paradise from his 3rd album.So basically he portrays himself as only an entertainer yet he connected with the people when he gave outshows. But with gangnamstyle it was different. Honestly, psy didnt become viral in the u.s because he was somewhat respected of his artistry. He had none of that since the lyrics were missing his respected career was unknown and totally blank. So what made him famous is that as long as for foreigners he just popped out of nowhere by some korean guy or some asian guy sharing something with a fat guy doing weird dance moves that happened to have a lit bgm made by that guy that looks like kim jong un(which i think is very embsrassing to say but i think we koreans should admit gangnam style was just an industrially produced and more refined hd version of the viral numanuma video and nothing else). And the fact that redfoo of lmfao started all of this gangnamstyle craze back in the day kinda shows that. Redfoo does have great club jams but basically he went viral not just because of the single power for party rock anthem or the early lmfao days with im miami trick but because he was just a weird ass guy(with his brother) with panties that dance crazy along a lit bgm(also in a weird wsy very similar to numanuma guy with his shirts off and dancing to an unintelligible song that is lit). And psy was thinking like oh this music structure was a hit so that should work in later singles and they like the dances so lets make the dances(but as evidenced by soulja boy or silento, this could bring cringe unnecessarily) and lets make catchy hooks(its true these elements here are yes sure great analysis of success but would gangnamstyle go viral as it would if there were other videos like this? If there was like another chinese or japanese man who did the same job he wouldve never gone viral. And even if the song was bad as hell but memeworthy as fuck it goes viral too. Psy blew up because it was a stupid video that combined all these elements but surprisingly asian.) So i think psys brief failure of future singles in the market in foreign countries was showing that it was not because gangnam style was a perfect bop, it was just about time that people wanted something to laugh about things that it blew up. And hangover was a disaster because it was not clear what he tried to say. The videos were awesome in a way but like context was lost about why this is possible or why this had to happen. If psy tried to show his hardcore gangsta side in his early first and 2nd albums, snoop doggs featurings would not sound out of place like what his other featurings in pop songs were or how ludacriss rap were in justin biebers baby and it wouldve been a solid hiphop project. Instead its boring af, just the same old substance people are tired of(psy wanted the korean alcohol culture represented but like why now there could be seriously other things that can be represented) and snoop dogg is just having a very awkward tourist vacation for some reason. But the song here was doing something better for once i guess.Also i think the other songs listed in albums deserve a listen.

I can go with something meta about fishing for likes culture that has been plaguing ytb. However, I think I will just go with plain old honesty. You see, like most things that are popular and trending are usually silly things, look at Gangnam style or straight up the trending tab. Did I enjoy this song? Hell yeah, loved it, favorited and the whole schebang, it's a really good song with a fantastic message. It's so great that it makes me wonder why it hasn't received as much popularity. Something of this caliber needs to be shared with everyone because everyone needs to know, all you need is love. Not everything is related to ytb or views, but it is a good counter for how much exposure and how much talk a video is getting.
