i'm not sure if you noticed, but the car in this mv is the exact same model as the car yoongi used in "daechwita"! the scene right before yoongi jumped into frame and you said that's probably yoongi, it was psy from "gangnam style" even the outfit psy wore is the same outfit from "gangnam style". they're basically referencing how yoongi killed his "old self" is "daechwita", meaning psy killed his "old self" from "gangnam style" but obviously in a more comical way 😭

This song is so fun and energetic and Min Yoongi with Psy is just a whole mood. At first, when Yoongi first entered and walked up to Psy, I thought they were going to do the infamous cowboy stare down but they didn’t 😅 My first intro to KPop was with the group H.O.T and Yoo Seung-Jin back in the late 90s and early 00s.

My introduction to kpop was when PSY Gangnam style came out. I remember it being a family cook out all of my aunts, uncles and cousins where there and all of a sudden the song started playing in the speakers. All of us liked it and then we all huddled together watching the video 20 or more times because of how funny and stupid it was. Like everyone in my family was watching that video. Fast forward 4 years later in 2016 I discover BTS and now I have been an Army and kpop lover ever since.

I didn’t know Gangnam style was KPOP until I discovered BTS. I’m very thankful for BTS breakthrough in the west because I’m having the best time of my life as an old Army 😂

My first unknowing intro to Kpop was when my kids were in elementary school and they were doing Gangam Style at an after school function. Like you said, ALL the kids were doing it. I had to Google what the heck Gangnam Style was. I realized it was Korean, but didn't give it much thought and eventually it faded and the kids moved on. That was, what, 10 years ago? Fast forward to last summer and my 75 yr old parents introduced me to Kdramas. In one drama, Melting Me Softly, there is a scene that discusses BTS and how they were so big that no one can book them. I had never heard of BTS. Yes, I realize that they were already "everywhere," but I don't watch network TV and was only listening to my own Spotify playlists or podcasts. So I saw that this BTS was a "boy Kpop group" and I decided to watch a KZfaq documentary The Most Beautiful Life Goes On by Asian Theory. I was hooked. I had only heard the snippets of songs, but I wanted to hear more. I've been making my way through the rabbit hole ever since.

To BTS paved the way for kpop and for Korea to be known worldwide, psy did go global in 2012 but honestly many people did not even know he was Korean … when BTS came up people learned about Korea and embrace Korea 🧘🏻‍♀️

I believe the first experience with Kpop I had was SHINee, after that I listened to SS501, but the first artist I listened to fully aware it was kpop was BTS with DOPE. I love this collab so much, because it does feel like Psy, with his experience and talents in the music industry, he's highlighting these great artists and in a way passing down the torch to the next generation. He's doing many wonderful collabs in this comeback and he hand picked each artist which says a lot about them and about how Psy knows when someone has talent and high star quality. I love that Suga was able to shine, in something somewhat out of his element, with experimental sounds for his typical production style.

Finally I wanted to say I've been waiting for Psys comeback for ages and if it wasn't for him ba k in 2012 I would've not gotten into kpop. Secondly I love how he worked along with yoongi and got him not only produce but also to be in the MV but to also dance aswell. Yoongi id my all time fav rapper in the entire music industry and someone I can truly relate too. Thirdly I am in love with the cowboy concept and vibe of the MV and I have always loved the wild west vibe. The whole choreo is just like Psy (if you seen his earlier qork you will k ow what I mean) the beat is upbeat and just makes me want to get up and dance along and another thing "that that" chorus is just so catchy as it has been stuck In my head since I first heard it in the teasers. Psy said that there’s a difference between popularity of a song and popularity of person. He said Gangnam style was the popularity of a song and BTS is the popularity of a person or persons.

I first found out about Kpop at an appliances store because BoA was blasting on a flat screen tv but at that time I wasn't that much into it until a friend tagged me on a SNSD video in 2011 and I was hooked, but... only in 2017 I went really deep into kpop with shinee, exo and BTS and i'm still obsessed :)

I like the song!! Yoongi killed it and he looked so good!!! PSY did good too! My favorite parts I think are when it slows down then speeds up and Yoongi’s part. I loved Yoongi’s adlibs so much. Fun Fact: 1) Same car as Deawticha and PSY’s car in his famous song (can’t spell it; sorry) 2) When Yoongi starts, from a Korean (watched Korean react), said the way he spoke was really gangster like…(hopefully this makes sense) 3) Yoongi thought he was only going to produce it but he composed, featured, and in music video!!! 4) PSY and Yoongi actually became great friends. Lol. I imagine that he actually had a lot of fun being in the video. It is only like a minute long but I recommend watching their interview… Also Yoongi usually dances to get the job done, but he really got into it this time. He killed the dance!!! (He always been good at dancing but dancing isn’t his favorite thing, so he usually wasn’t as into it…) Yoongi looked like he has having so much fun. My first ever K-pop song was killing me by icon and I loved this song sooo much,to this very day it’s my favourite song.

My very first exposure to K-pop was actually the OG K-pop boy group out of SM entertainment "H.O.T" when I was in middle school with their song "CANDY". East Asian pop music was not really a "new" thing in my household as my sisters and I listened to a lot of Thai pop and Chinese pop music leading up to our introduction to H.O.T. And then when we were in college we listened to SNSD, SuJu, TVXQ, Big Bang, 2NE1, and other 2nd gen K-pop groups. And nowadays, I listen to a huge variety of Korean music (BTS being my gateway into K-pop as an adult).

For me PSY was my first impression on kpop and I didn’t know until years later. In the beginning of 2018 my friend had shown me bts and exo :> those 2 were my very first artists in kpop and “dope” and “kokobop” were my first offical kpop songs. Ever since then I’ve LOVED the kpop world and now I have a bunch of albums and merch and stuff ☺️and stan like 20+ groups🤣 Anyway, about the video. I just love how happy you look. You also seem very optimistic this video😸I heavily enjoyed this MV and I literally gasped when Yoongi hopped into frame lol what an entrance. His flow was immaculate and the chemistry between him and PSY was absolutely entertaining and they go well together musically. The first I heard of K-pop was an article about Super Junior in Entertainment Weekly. I didn’t go listen to any of it, but it left an impression. Psy was next. I didn’t love Gangnam Style, but I started clicking the suggested videos on KZfaq and the rest is history.

My intro into kpop was through kdramas. I watched Boys Over Flowers and searched out some of those songs but what really hooked me was when I watched Cinderella and the Four Knights and one of the songs (For You by BTOB) got stuck in my head and I had to find the name of the song and artist…that lead me to BTOB, Apink, and Pentagon…then my teenager brought BTS to me as well. I never actually heard Gangnam Style by Psy until recently but I did see a cover of it on Glee a few years ago, I had no idea it was Korean music…all I knew was it was a song from a foreign (not American) artist and it was pretty catchy but I didn’t really pay much attention as I was raising three daughters (two with autism), going to online school, and working full time.

Linton, did you see the press on this? Apparently, Psy wanted Suga to produce a song for him but said he would like to meet with him in person before they can proceed. They sent lyrics back and forth to each other. Over time; Psy talked him into being in the video. Now, they have this Bestie relationship going on where they are hangin' together. During the press interview after Psy explains the story, he does this maniacal laugh. It was classic!

My introduction to kpop was boa, shinee and super junior. I got into them all about the same time. I was obsessed with lucifer by shinee in 8th grade. That was like 2007/2008ish

I actually started watching k-dramas in like 2008 or 2009 after bridging the gap from anime to jdrama live action remakes of anime to the KDRAMA remake (Boys Over Flowers or hana yori dango in japan) but didn't get into k-pop til 2017 but I would say PSY was the first korean pop artist to end up on my playlist with gangnam style. Gotta laugh at the moments I recognized kdrama actors were actually 1st or 2nd gen idols for the first time as I learned more and more. Literally mind blown lol.
