I’m literally crying while watching this video. I feel guilty for feeling the way I do, but sometimes I really can’t take it anymore.

Being a carer for my elderly mother is ruining me,I'm praying for it to end

Yeah every time I think of my suffering I think my dad is going through it 50x worse, and that my care gets worse for him when I don’t feel good it’s a vicious cycle. I’ll pray for it to end too but I also pray that he lives as long as possible so I can have every moment with him and it hurts my soul

I took care of my wife with dementia for 8 years. She acquired dementia at the age of 52 and died just 3 months ago. The first 5 years were not too stressful, the next 2 were about medium stress and the last year was so stressful I thought it was going to kill me. I quit my job 3 years before she passed away to take full time care of her. The stress between work and home was just too much. The thing is, I would do it all over again just to have her back. RIP beloved wife and loving mother.

Ask for help.....nobody gives a damn. Who has time for a support group? Had to quit my job and family is too busy to help. 24/7 job with no pay.

Totally agree. Suddenly nobody is to found when help is needed. Can’t work, can’t do anything. Nobody will help and nobody cares. You really find out who is there for you when you’re in the worst situation possible. Hey, good luck to you ❤

They mean well with the tips, but the caretaker role is very different when the dependent person has a severe mental illness . It's not very easy to find a "substitute" care taker when the receiver of that care is at a danger to themselves when left alone or other people.

100%. When you've experienced the fear that you may be killed, you're hardly likely to ask that someone else to put themself in that situation...it's not like asking someone to sit with your elderly parent or a child whilst you get a break. Also a grown adult ( psychotic or not) would not respond well to a "babysitter" .

Im sorry to hear that. I didn’t realize how hard it was to get a good caregiver just in general.

Take care of yourself? What does that even mean? Ppl say that all the time to me. I barely have time to take a shower. My husband is completely wheelchair bound and can't change himself or care for himself at all. Most days I'm good but I have a lot of pain problems and diabetes myself. Today is just a bad day. We are in our sixties and have grown kids but they don't seem to have time to help. My daughter in law that has a disease that makes her just faint out of the blue wanted to come and stay but bring all the kids. We live on a fixed income and barely make it every month I don't need more mouths to feed plus if she has a episode then I'm stuck taking care of her and the kids. Now she won't even talk to me because it insulted her for me to what she called Nick picked at her help. Ugh God help me!

Every week things feel like they are falling apart , i feel guilty I'm not doing enough, i feel stuck , i wish I could get free from this stress, working a full time job from home as well... I just want some peace of mind that's all

@@PsychHub I'm not in America , in my country there is minimal support for such things. I AM ALONE.. i barely remember to brush or shave or work out anymore, i don't make any artwork anymore. It's just a daily realisation that there is no escape from this situation , and once it's over I'll have played my part then there's nothing else for me here.. I'm just a pawn in a game much larger than me , i feel sometimes I don't deserve to be happy.

Caregiver pro tip: if you're a burned out caregiver, just find a magical unicorn to take over your responsibilities with the pot of gold that you find at the end of the rainbow. What a fucking joke.

I didn't really watch the video. I cared for my wife with dementia for 8 years. She passed away just 3 months ago. I don't think there is any video that can really help or prepare you. I feel after 8 years of going through it I could offer much more good information than any video or organization.

I am a caregiver for my wife she has MS. I have not had a break in 6 years and the home care service here is a bad joke. I am in major distress. I have given up on my life and keep hoping that I just dont wake up in the morning. HELP

I am a caregiver for my mother who has MS as well as well as now for her husband who just had back surgery. I still have to work and take care of both of them. It is so difficult. If I don’t set boundaries with time and make sure my time to myself is respected then it’s even harder. Routine has been so key. Routine has been my life saver. Though most times I still feel like I’m going to break. I always eat last and it’s never hot it it’s heated up about 10 times. I’m working more and more on establishing a daily routine that’s conducive for every and making sure I have time to myself

Hang in there. I feel you. Distress is hard. And those feelings of giving up on life are common. Feel that too. If there is a way to take a break do it. I try, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Boundaries are good. Be physical. Do something active.
