the long term studies where done in one geographical region. They'd need to be in global or western to be representative.

yes. although it is a start. and (as he mentioned in the lecture) it is difficult to gather that much accurate data on people. in depth research like that is expensive and time consuming. although you're totally right about the selected sample should be representative of the entire population. otherwise the findings will only apply for a small subset of the population. and yes it is difficult to select a representative sample.

if you pay attention to the lecture, around 1:05:06 he *does* cover the topic of selecting a sample that is representative...

Hypothesis. Not theory. Theory is a hypothesis proven already through scientific methods and the like and turned into, theory. That's what theory is.

My parents didn't hurt me, and my sister didn't hurt me either. They had big space needs, and because of this I wanted to keep distance from them. Maybe I was afraid that they will hurt my future wife, because they seem to be so problematic people, I thought that maybe my wife will think that I'm doing extreme sports, because I was as burned out as my parents, but I'm not doing them for this reason. When I will get married, I would be okay if my parents would come over, but I don't want them to have such big space need, to come with those weird dishes. I avoided to let my friends close to my parents, because my parents had such weird space need.
