Really emotional song, a great one though, Rod Wave is a real artist! And you basically had the idea of the video. The kid was dealing with domestic assault from the father and he was deaf as well. The dad was painted to be sort of a dead beat while the mom works long hours and cares for the kid. The kid was walking home with his hands in his pockets and couldn’t hear the officers orders and since he wasn’t complying he was shot. Not all of his songs are this dark though, I’d definitely check out more!

The boy was a victim of mistaken identity and police brutality. It happens a *LOT* in low income neighbourhoods. I was charged with assault on an officer at 18 years old because a group of cops beat me senseless while screaming "Stop resisting!" They were called for a gun threat caused by twin brothers who I looked nothing alike. Life isn't easy in the hood but people try their best.

One day, after one of their fights interrupted their lunch, mom sends boy to the store to get soda and whatever food he was carrying in that plastic bag. On his way home cops try to stop Boy whatever reason. Boy gets shot for not complying. Turns out Boy was deaf and dumb. Lyrics; Rodwave became famous out of all his loved ones. All the responsibilities that come with being the one taking care of everyone and the FEDs and the police brutality at the time he wrote the song had him restless. One day he wondered if he could rest in peace if he died.

So the cops shot the little boy. The connotation behind the shooting was they assumed he stole the groceries he had. Since he was deaf he couldn’t hear the cop sirens or the cops telling him to stop. So they assumed he was resisting or something along those lines. To which they then shot and killed the little boy. Which was the whole misunderstanding they were trying to convey in this song I believe. Of course there is more I think the main point Rod wave tries to convey is not judging a book by it’s cover. As just like books we don’t know what’s lying underneath until we actually take the time to read them. Or get to know the person’s background, home life, mental state, etc Good review nonetheless I hope it helps you understand the song a little better. It’s honestly a beautiful song and makes me tear up.
