Do you have a load manual with Cheddite data with various components.wondering if the new Lyman has the data?
@shaunstayfree55517 ай бұрын
I like the BPI ballistic products intl manuals, they are pretty comprehensive and include several cheddite loads.

I've never used 700x . I'm curious how it works for you .

With the mold, could you make these out of brass.
@shaunstayfree55516 ай бұрын
Maybe, but keep in mind the almost double melting point of brass over lead
@aronkovacs13863 ай бұрын
You can make it from whatever you want, just mind the weight difference and the hardness

in 2024 with the costs that have gone up making a 3" OO 1450FPS cartridge even worth it? i can buy them for .90 cents each
@shaunstayfree55516 ай бұрын
Not really. But its a good hobby and gives greater access to ammo for future supply issues

Minus hull price on 3 -3.5. Reloading buck and slug will always be more value imo

How many grains of 700-x did you use?
@shaunstayfree5551 Жыл бұрын
22grs If I recall but refer to your own load data for whatever wad column and your own unique setup. The BPI slug manual and Lyman 12ga manual are critical. BPI publishes free load data sometimes on their website

I see you used pure lead to cast your slugs. But then why would you water drop them to make them harder? Shotgun slugs should be soft pure lead.
@shaunstayfree55513 ай бұрын
Either I was in a hurry to load them so they would cool quicker or I just wanted to test accuracy on this bunch water dropping as well. Thanks for watching.
@raysbudgetslowmoАй бұрын
Pure lead or close too, within about 2% can not be significantly water hardened. A temporary and short gain to 6-7 bhn before softening back to 5-6 bhn. A few % of antimony is required. Tin also works but to a much lesser degree. Mixing tin and antimony will give you the ability to cast really hard bullets in 20+ bhn. I've found with my lyman foster mold that I can cast slugs up to 12 bhn, and they still blow out to fill the bore. Never tried anything harder. These are my results and yours may vary.

Keep your cell phones away from your scales including walkie talkies and tablets and computers and wifi .they will cause interference with the load cell in the scale
